Just take me out back and shoot me Kaplan. This bike is my very first brand new Honda Elsinore. You're killing me Kaplan you're killing me I'm sitting here 71 years old with big baby tears in my eyes I can't watch another minute of this I got to go bye

@@donniebaker5984 Aww. I know. I wish he would pity my poor, overworked and broke self too. I raise my 2 kids- 9 and 14 years old son n daughter, there mom hasn't seen them in 7 years, I have some custody and raise them alone. It's almost impossible because I don't have 2 of me, they aren't old enough to stay home alone and there's just not enough hours in a day to help with homework, work 60 hours a week, cook, clean, and everything else I gotta do. I dream of having a 90's kdx 200 or yz,kx,Cr or rm 250. That's all. I wanna go hare scrambling again so badly. I grew up riding up until my adult years, and ended up getting my 2 bikes stolen right out of my garage 10 years ago. Pretty sure it was my old landlord. Someday I'll have a bike again- I just can't feasibly afford to go buy one all money goes to rent, and taking care of bills and kids-but I understand your tears friend.

I started Motocross racing when I was 16 in 1974. so my first bike was a yellow Yamaha 360 MX but they didn't tell me the very next year in 1975 that the mono shock was coming out or I would have waited till the next year but the bike you have there is what my riding partner had it was a very good bike he would out motor me in the straits but I could take him on the curves but that bike sure does bring a lot of memories back. The 360 MX that I had I bought new off the showroom floor at North end cycle in Elkhart Indiana where I live... I remember it was $995 out the door he had six of them left they were yellow with the metal tank had the most amazing expansion chamber on it .. beautiful sound

Kaplan reminds me of archangel in the TV series called airwolf where they had taken an old military streamlined helicopter and equipped it with jet engines on each side that would do supersonic speeds just like kaplan's obsession with 500cc machines today of the two-stroke flavor yes and it's a good time to be alive
@donniebaker5984
@donniebaker5984 2 года назад
And as a matter of fact when I was working in the Chicago railroad yards the local national guard would do their maneuvers and acrobats with their helicopters over the railroad yard in case they crashed and wouldn't go into the residential area.... And every night after work I would stop at Davern's tavern where the leader of the helicopter crew would stop in and sucked down his studs with me as I asked him how's the war today and he would start to spill everything there is that you shouldn't know about the same model helicopter they used in airwolf as he would do a backflip with the son of a b**** over our railroad yards.... Has one night after work he was telling me if the tips of the blades of the rotor was surpass the speed of sound the helicopter will fall out of the sky like a rock as a cavitates the air with no lift at all but the engines that are gas turbines have well beyond the horsepower to do that... The reason for the overkill horsepower is so you can overload that helicopter with men and casualties to get the hell out of the battlefield and escape with the chopper loaded beyond spec and still have the horsepower to get it off the ground

I had one of these in 1980.Pretty clean except po welded the countershft sprocket on.One of my well intentioned buddy's tore it down and it ended up in a dumpster.I ended up collecting dirtbikes in the 90s.I had a hundred or so.I had a 78 a 79 cr 250 but the 76 was pretty rare.Rm 500s too but I did have one.I like the big ones.No bullshit I was stopped at a light in Wilmington nc and looked down and found a good kz 420 cylinder just lying there.Good nikasil too.I had a 420 at the time.Crazy.

My first real dirt bike was a 1972 MX360 Yamaha two stroke .. It weighed about 220 lb ... Big bore Short stroke and It liked to kick back every now and then... Sometimes it would spring your ankle... Other times it was just flip the kick lever right up against the back of your leg and give you a nice big black bruise... And other times it would twist the kick starter gears sideways and then when it would start would throw those gears sideways bust the cases blow the gears out on the ground..... The boost porting was pretty darn radical.... The exhaust port was bigger than a 500... There was more holes in the cylinder of porting than there was metal.... I like to see one on kaplan's Dyno next to a modern day water cooled KTM 360 2-stroke .... I'd almost bet they would be really close within five horsepower or so ...a used to ride a KTM 360 it wasn't any more powerful....I once took the mx360 to the local 1/8th mile drag strip and pulled a wheelie the whole track turning low 8s topped out at 90 before I cut the lights at the end ...lots and lots of power ... But like you said there's one big huge difference trying to ride one of those old bikes as you had about 4 inches of wheel travel in the front about 3 in of wheel travel in the back now imagine all that horsepower of a KTM 36o 2 stroke strap to it.. and when I first started Motocross they didn't have a gate to drop they had a big bungee cord stretched across the the starting line sometimes get wrapped around your neck and draw up tight about when you're hitting third gear after launching in 2nd ...yeppers those old bikes were never boring as they never handled the same way twice ...you maybe headed to the moon or falling off a cliff like wile e coyote ....yaaaaaahoooooo splat

I don't know if it was this way everywhere back then but in my area in the Pacific Northwest there was a Honda dealer that sold brand new old bikes that were still in the crate. My Dad bought our first motorcycle that way about 1978 and it was a '76 XL75. Fast forward to mid 1981. I remember the year because a water cooled YZ125 was involved and I wanted one bad, and a guy a few years older than me in my neighborhood had one. Well he sold it pretty much right away. I thought it was weird to sell that awesome bike so soon and even weirder when I saw what he bought next. He sold his YZ125 and bought a '76 CR250 still brand new. That many years after '76! And not long after another guy in the area bought a brand new '78 CR125 in the crate. The dealer was Bob Lamphere and he sold lots of old/new crate bikes back then. I've always wondered if there were other shops that did that.

@@agoogleuser4248 yes as the last words stating no way to make motor scream anymore ⁉️ are you saying she's blowed ⁉️ which won't be a problem for me at all as I can make it go faster than it ever did as I was instructed in a Honda R&D School which my instructor's name was pop yoshimura and I still have all his tricks and secrets on that exact same Honda... And now at age 71 I can still twist a wick and enter the 60 plus class Motocross they still hold at Lincoln trail Motocross park just outside of Casey Illinois that's only about an hour's drive from where I live.... But don't believe I'm still the balls out rider I used to be.. As earlier this year I ran into one of my old pals Gary peak who must be about 80 years old today as he was top dog Nationwide in the 30 plus class in the '80s and I met him this past summer at our local Honda shop as he was buying cans of VP racing fuel headed to a Motocross somewhere across the Nation as looking in the back of his toy hauler he had five new Motocross machines covering all the classes that crazy bastard's still at it.. So all I hope to do is just get on the starting line of a 60 plus class which there's probably about four riders total through the season at our local Casey Illinois track.... And what set me off on your particular ride is the DG swing arm not that it matters but it's so cool and marzoki forks ⁉️ it's mine if I can get the money
