That 70s sound… sound of my grandma and I washing clothes on a early sunrise Saturday morning, on a wooden porch…in the Mississippi delta. #preciousmemories
I just picked up an 80 series Kenmore washer from 1999. Any washing machine made after 2010 is complete garbage and won't last long. Now that it's 2019 is your beautiful washer still working? Please let me know :)
This video and some of the comments proves I haven’t lost it. 😊 Thanks for taking the time to record this. There must be some womb sounds that are close to this....tho it’s been quite some time since I heard those.....but this may seriously be my white noise go-to-sleep sound from now on. I love my 2002 Whirlpool 80 series and snatched an older Frigidaire at an estate sale for backup. The Kenmore...Going to replace the clutch today and she should be good for a long time still. Oh how I love the older things!
Not a very good suspension like all GE washers. That was one thing GE lacked even on the Filter Flo. The Filter Flo got replaced with the knock off direct drives I guess. The suspension on the new Whirlpools are a joke.
Wait they still sold pumps for filter flos in 2017?, I thought they were long discontinued also that brake is bad and you can’t replace it. You will have to get a new machine which don’t have brakes either, instead they have a lid lock.
Most of the GE washers I saw from the 70s-90s all had the ramp agitators in them. Only saw 1 when I was a teen in the early 80s that had this agitator at a friend's home. I prefer the wash action of straight vained agitators.
@@patcola7335 I LOVE how the straight vane ACTIVATOR'S look. I've seen and experienced live action of the straight 8 vane and the spiral ramp. I would love to have this one.
@@Tyler_Owen23 I thought it was funny when you said that you had this growing up, only to reveal that you grew up in the 2000's. Most people that grew up with that particular Filter Flo washer most likely are in their 50's now... like myself or even older. But your story is a testament to how long washers and dryers lasted back in the day, compared to the junk that's out there these days.
Nice to see someone else rinse out the cap from detergent. You can’t beat the older machines they clean much better than the new ones!! Nothing runs like a Kenmore!!
@@caseyoliver4718 thanks. I was being sarcastic. I wouldn’t buy a GE or any other brand. Im Only a Kenmore person here. My mother got a free refrigerator from Sears because she carried the protection agreements they. I just got a free floor furnace 2 yrs ago because still had the Sears protection agreement on the appliances. 👍🏻. That why nothing but kenmore!!
@@thehotone12 I see I understand that and Kenmore washing machine were better back in the day especially the direct drive one's where a lot better than the New one's these days but I understand what you're saying.
@@thehotone12my mom had a lady Kenmore washingmachine back in the day. That machine lasted for 25 somewhat years. Then bought a whirlpool washer back in 83 when our machine was beyond repair. Kenmore and whirlpool had the same features and motor but different outer body.
@@abcsd1254 my nanna and my mum one when I was really small remember sitting next to them to get warm when they were on as a kid hahah weird I know but it send me into a weird trance, asleep but still awake.
They used this design from the 1950s to 1995. Very good machines! I love old GE washers. Was replaced with the Profile in 1996. The Profiles weren't so bad, it's just that they did not have the durability of the Filter Flo models.
@@lionman9621 well true. Their were some better washers that had better types of spin drains with out splashing the water on the washer door and splashing water on the upper sides (which made some of those areas rust)
This washing machine is AWESOME!!!!!! !What a beast. We have a new Maytag top load and it truly sucks. You can't just start it and walk away cause of the HE water function. Half the time it doesn't fill with enough water. I wish they still made'em like this now. All the newer machines have literally all plastic parts.
My grandma had one when I was a kid. They were OK machines, the tramamission went after 10 years or so. Not as good as my current Whirlpool direct drive from 2000, 25 years and still going strong, but still tons better than today's stuff.
Jenna Black it’s the filter to pick up lint. These machines were amazing. They pick up lint as they wash. The wash action was thorough, clothes came out clean. My mom had one but the agitator was different. It was swirly looking lol
Luis Alvarez wow ok, I never saw one of these before, I love it! Soooo true, I recently had to purchase a new washer and what a journey!! I almost bought the Speed Queen but wasn't sure about the new agitator on it. So I ended up with an Lg (Kenmore)bf front loader, I should have done more research though because I'm missing a couple features that I realize I want. I bought a Maytag top loader but returned it. The clothes were not going under the water. If something is working then my goodness just leave it alone!
Hello ABCSD......are you still there?? I hope all is well...its been 2 years since weve heard another sweet sounding washer. Anyway.... peace, love, and thank you.
@@abcsd1254 but....I am certainly happy you replied!!!!!! I notice alot of people commenting if your around...now they can read this and know that you are well.!!!! ( sad but...I still watch your other washing machine video EVERY day! Lol) Hava super day!!!!!
May I please request some videos, could you make a full WASH, RINSE and SPIN of a 'maximum capacity' wash load where the water level is *SUPER* extra large (water covering the high vanes)...a video of how many bath towels can fit and be washed load...a largest comforter wash...whites and mixed laundry load videos. It will also be cool to see how the Activator 4 washes at different water levels---MEDIUM and SMALL load size washes when you can look down into the washtub, so you can see the TURNOVER of the smaller loads.
Excellent washing action!! Everything stays completely under the water for great cleaning! Excellent agitator!! Today the wash action is too slow and they don't clean!
AWESOME video, really appreciate them but, ah yeah where is the rest of it (lghh) we wasn't able to see the ACTIVATOR 4 in action during the rinsing cycle as well. There aren't any videos with this GE straight 4-vane agitator in action. This agitator is powerful and turns the load over fast. FYI, the spinning speed is faster and the brake works much quicker than this. You should post this video on automaticwasher.org. to let all of the GE washer fans see how awesome this agitator is.
The brake is broken. It does not work at all. I am afraid that the transmission on this machine is not long for this world. The belt is brand new and tight and the motor is fine. She's just a bit tired these days. I will try switching the filter to the other part. My assumption was that people would like to see the filter since it is a filterflo but alas, perhaps not!
Yes. It is not working now for some reason although the transmission locks into gear at the start of the agitate cycles so I am not sure what's going on at both parts are integrated into the transmission. I suppose just wait until it has fully stopped now haha
PG I have one old dryer, a 1975 Kenmore in avocado. The motor is from a newer machine, though, because after the thermostat failed the original owner left it in a moist environment and it seized.
It’s in the garage above the machine; other people wanted to see it work without the filter pan. The lid says to put the dry clothes to the top of the basket which I did and I followed the manufacturers instructions on the soap so what I did was what General Electric and P&G said to do.
It's true but, washer lovers love to see the agitator in ACTION---along with the filter flo too but, ending the videos with the ACTIVATOR--4 really tops it off. This agitator is really great, I mean the wash action is so much better than I thought it would be. I like the way the ACTIVATOR 8-vane looks but this one washes so much better. Viewers also like the see videos of the agitator washing ALL size loads...from (SUPER) Extra Large which is maximum water level...where the water basically covers the high-vanes...large, MEDIUM and SMALL loads to see how well or just how the Activator 4 'turnover' the loads. Also, they like to see the agitator in action looking down into the tub having a complete OVERVIEW of the wash, rinse and spin action. Other great videos are maximum capacity wash loads to see how much or big a load the agitator could handle...example, how many bath towels, sheets, jeans---comforter the Activator 4 can power wash. I'm absolutely sure you can get a donated GE TRANSMISSION and BRAKE component from ( automaticwasher.org) club. Someone would be happy to help you get 'her' runner her BEST from the club. Open a thread on the site and you'll see.
scrubflex I have been a member for white some time. They saw the machine when I first saved it from the haul away pile at Menards back two winters ago. There used to be a post that John L made about a FilterFlo he knew of that had a defective brake since it was new and it worked for a decade so I'll just let it be. It's not worth putting a new trans in since it does work.
