Wow, pot metal still being used in the late 70’s? Great that you got the old Collaro working again, I love the arm action and reliability of those changers. Better than average 8 track deck too, also a very good guess on the FM fault. I had the same fault in a Marantz tuner front end a few years ago and I ended up buying 10 high freq. transistors for a couple of bucks because it was cheaper, guess I’ve got spares now (hey you never know).

Great job on the diagnosis and record player repair. Funny how those vhf transistors can test good but not work. Happened to me on an rca table radio.

Guess Magnavox didn't go very far downhill , their stuff still sounds pretty nice

i found out a match for the transistor you replaced a 2n2222 will work too

I did but the turntable, but put the later type tonearm on it from a later turntable since the tonearm on it had a screw missing

I prefer the collaro myself they treat records much more gently

was the motor for the 8-track made in England some their cosoles had 8 track players with british-made motors

i found which transistor can replace that one a 2N3904 will work

radiotvphohnut found the same thing with a Magnavox console the transistor tested ok outside the unit but in the unit it leaked

i see one like this on ebay that i may still get in a month or so

i have that problem with one picking up two stations at once . i'd like to know which transistor you replaced i bet mine needs one replaced

that collaro looks suspiciously like a re-badged BSR
