A collection of many of the adverts or commercials if you like for the Transformers toys that made all of us of a certain age in the UK want these amazing toys so much back in the 1980's! Enjoy!
UK 80s schoolboys watching the animated G1 series be like "Hang about, wotzis then? Who's that bloke with the cannon-arm? And why is Soundwave subordinate to him? Isn't he supposed to be the leader?"
I was one of those kids but I was never confused as I watched the beginning of the first season before I saw any toy adverts. Thankfully Hasbro decided marketing a toy hand gun wasn't that bad in the end and got with the actual plot. Thanks for watching!
My parents wouldn't stretch to the £18 for Optimus,Megatron. But I was allowed soundwave which I guess would be £12.Everyone wanted Megatron and I knew someone whose father got hold of shockwave in Japan...arguably THE must have.
Yep! I thought it was very strange myself as Megatron was the leader at the time. The only thing that makes any sense is that the UK advertising team behind the advert were clueless for some reason!
Megatron was never released in the UK because of his gun mode, which was controversial for UK toy laws. 😔 That's why Soundwave was advertised as the "leader of the Decepticons".
@@COMBOY Maybe Megatron was not released at that moment in time but he was after a while as I had the toy of him back in the 80's and yes he was very much a hand gun and a sniper rifle too! Thanks for watching!
I know! I guess the UK was not sure if they were okay with Megatron being a gun so they just made the whole Soundwave being the leader thing up to sell a few toys until they had made up their minds about marketing a kind of realistic looking hand gun to kids. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Thanks for watching! I found it on RU-vid. If you type in The Transformers G1 season 2 theme guitar cover you should find it then you will need to download it through something available out there!
@@supahcomix When the line first came to the UK the Advertisers were rushing to get the line out onto the market so they made a lot of mistakes until they corrected things in line with the US mythos Hasbro US had created. Oddly enough, in the UK Marvel weekly Transformers comic, Soundwave does indeed become Deception Leader by the year 2008 as seen in the story 'Space Pirates'.

@@TheMasterNo6 the He-Man mini comics that came with the toys didn’t match up with the (later) cartoon either! He-man was merely a Conan expy, the two power swords had to be combined to enter Greyskull & I’m not sure what the Sorceress was like!
