Love the original Devastator commercial(with the original song). My favorite part is after he says "Devastator's attacking!" Then he raises the figure during the "More than meets the eye" part. Their best Transformers commercial(and they were all great).👍
I love how Optimus Prime stops in the middle of an intense firefight to casually peer into a microscope. "Hmm... Yes, this piece of shrapnel that came off of the purple-colored flying robot that attacked us has a tiny Decepticon symbol on it that cannot be seen with the naked eye! I never would have known he was a Decepticon otherwise!"
A few things to point out about Jetfire. The Autobots didn't create Jetfire. He switched sides from the Decepticons, who discovered him when he was lost on Earth. And he was called Skyfire and given a slightly different look.
Garth Davis Exactly. And also the Transformers were licensed from several Japanese toy companies, then repackaged. That’s one of the main reason for the inconsistencies in the toy/story relationships. Plus they were in a hurry to get those toys sold, so continuity took a backseat.
@Garth Davis - That's the story from the cartoon - which had wild discrepancies and bloopers! It was Skyfire who was a Decepticon scientist who switched allegiances to the Autobots! The Jetfire toy was a Macross Valkyrie that was manufactured by Japanese toymaker Bandai. Hasbro didn't realize that the license for Jetfire wasn't included in the deal they made for Takara's Diaclone and Micro Change toylines. Thus Sunbow Productions had to change the look of Jetfire in the animated series and changed his name to Skyfire to avoid a lawsuit. Technically they're the same character, but the commercial for Jetfire was an advertisement for the toy - which was a Macross Valkyrie! There was no toy for his Skyfire incarnation!
In the G1 comics, the story was quite different, although it does have the same ingredient of the character changing sides. Because it was printed media and not broadcast media, Marvel were able to get away with using the Jetfire name and not change it to 'Sky Fire,' without a lawsuit, but they still had to use the enormously different character model as seen in the cartoons. In the storyline, this incarnation was an invention of Shockwave, who had captured Optimus Prime and forced him to use the Creation Matrix to give life to a new force of Decepticons. Prime had already been forced to give life to the Constructicons, and Jetfire was the next in line. But the Constructicons had used up all the Matrix power Prime had left; he had secretly transferred most of it to Buster Witwicky. Shockwave therefore sent Jetfire to attack Bumblebee and Bluestreak, but as a mindless drone. When they fought Jetfire, the two Autobots found it had no reactions and no power of decision-making, and realised it wasn't really alive. Therefore they got Buster to use the Matrix power to take control of it. From there, Jetfire was given life as an Autobot.
It sure was a great time to grow up during the original Transformers cartoon and toy line, I was obsessed with them. I'd collect the toys and basically have them on a display shelf. Thought they were the coolest thing then, they were way ahead of their time. I still think they're better than any toys today. When they killed off all the main original characters in the movie it was the biggest mistake they could've made. I'm still pissed about it after all these years.

I love how they present Perceptor as a suitable answer to tripplechangers - ya boi didn't get to be a bad ass sniper until idw days. G1 Percy was never much of a challenge to tripplechangers lol.
Transformers G1 is amazing and i watched these commercials when i was 9 and i have 8step change Grimlock which he's from "Robots in Disguise" collection and i like this battle.
Well... Maybe not Ravage and Laserbeak since both are pretty fast. But Frenzy and Rumble? Yeah, there's no way they would beat Grimlock head on. The only way those two would stand a chance is if they use their Earthquake ability. Then again, Swoop's pretty fast too and can fly.
Since everything is rebooted anyway, I'd love to see a continuity where there pre-movie characters not killed off in the movie appear with the new guys. For example, we see Sunstreaker and Sideswipe have fun beating up some Sharkticons...
NO! Sucessful show don't need reboots, they need continuations. Besides we had that war for cybertron garbage trilogy with bad voice acting, bad story, and awful CGI where the characters looked like toys and made the aged 90's Beast Wars cgi look far better in comparison.

I love the G1 toys, my dad bought a G1 Soundwave in Toysrus back in 2006 when it was in the classics line, came with Lazerbeak and Ravage, and then he gave it to me, haven’t bought a new Soundwave figure since. One holy grail G1 Transformer toy I have always wanted is Shockwave.
@@MrGojira95 Shockwave! That was a good toy. The sound is a bit noisy, but I think it is very well made, even if you look at it as a gun toy. I would love to see a G1 reprint, but I guess Japanese fans are not that interested in Transformers Encore, and Takara Tomy is reluctant to reprint G1 toys, so I hope Hasbro will do it.
I bought my son a new OP from earthspark last year. He can't transform it. Everything's too tight on that thing. No which toys do you think he like better? G1 OP and Magnus and PM Prime😄 After all these years, those toys still hold their own and get a six year old to play with them! And while I like the new renditions of the old characters, what bothers me is the lost art of fast transforming You needed like 15 sec to transform the old ones, now it's like 15 minutes😂 It's OK for the collector but you can't play like we used to do, it totally interrupts the flow
AMAZING! Damn, USA adverts definitely had the star factor - especially in the 80's. Constructicons / Devastator were not available in the UK market. Neither were Shockwave or Swoop. Never mind, Jazz and Soundwave were my favourite toys ( and my favourite characters ) by far.
When i was a kid i bugged my Grand Pa to buy me Optimus prime and dinobot Snarl.it hurts me to this day that i never had them 2 Transformers as a kid.now that i am all grown up.i don't play with toys anymore and have any interest for them anymore.if i did get back into interest of my 2 favorite Transformers.i would have to go to a toy fair and buy them $35 and up!life is so cruel.it took awhile.gives me obstacles.the time it took,the price.it does not mean i will give up Transformers.i still like to watch them on videos.
Idk why but as i watched these commercials I wonder how many of these kids in them went to prison and did a long time. Because that one guy looked like a mug shot I seen not to long ago
FUN FACT: the jetfire toy didn't look anything like the one from the cartoon but the toy was based on skull leader 1 in robotech, another 80s cartoon & second isn't that the guy who plays the father n Webster??

I'm annoyed that the first commercial didn't name Optimus Prime and Megatron. They should've come up with names for them BEFORE airing the commercial......
