This is the second of two videos doing a full walk around tour of this last winters (2014) rehab effort. This 1980 Triumph Spitfire was built Feb 1980 and quite literally dragged out of a barn Oct 2014. Just about every nut and bolt has been turned on this car over the last 4 months. TONS of new parts...spent way too much but the results are spectacular and had a blast as usual.
.update 3/24 ..destined for bringatrailer spring 2024 :-)

This is by far the best video I have seen on a summary of a Triumph Spitfire restoration. I will be referring to it often when I start the 76 US fed I have parked in my garage. I love the updates, mods, and conversions you made on this brown beauty. Lots of solid and logical improvements you made. I love everything you did on this car and hope to add many of these features to my own project. Seriously. Thank you very much for this video. Keep up the excellent work!

What a lovely looking car you've done a great job here buddy 👍 there's not many cars that can look that good in brown. The interior trim is superb. The style of the spitfire is timeless. You should feel proud

then you want one of my many other older Spits! :-) A very good friends of mine is the original owner of a 1979 Spit and looks just as new as this. It's the same Spit Hemmings used for it multi-page center fold Spit article a few years back.

Congrats, what a lovely Spitfire. I like your sensible mods. When a new Spitfire arrived at the dealership a spare set of keys were taped to the underside of the washer bottle. During the car's PDI, the mechanic was supposed to remove the spare keys & hand them to the salesman. But this rarely happened. So when we were 17, we'd all load up in my 1948 Austin 8 & drive to pubs looking for Spitfires. If we found one, flip open the bonnet, retrieve the keys and move the car across the car park, lock the car & replace the keys. Then we'd sit in my Austin 8 & giggle watching the confused owner come out of the pub looking for his Spitfire. On a good night we'd move 4 or 5 Heralds & Spitfires. Great fun for us 17 year olds. ☺

I always thought the Spitfire was a pretty car. When it's in nice clean condition like this, it is something to be admired. With today's cars, the only dues you have to pay to own one is the price. Cars like this come from a time when you had to put some effort into the ownership. Maintenance, ride, creature comfort, and lots of idiosyncrasies ruled out many of the non-enthusiasts. I had two Fiat X1/9s which I enjoyed immensely, but I always turned my head for these. Thanks for the enjoyable video.

thanks for the kudos.... Liberty is Spit number 12(?) (+2 GT6's and 3 Spit6's) I figured it was about time I went 'all new' without rebuilding all the little parts. I also used up alot of my 'good parts' I'd saved up over the years. (front and rear GT6 brakes etc). Yep spent way more than usual, but worth I think. Still could easily break even if it sells.

Nice work, looks great from vid. I use to work on spits back in the 70 & 80s. I am currently looking to buy one, however deciding on a miata as well. If I go with the miata, I will upgrade to a LSx v8. I also like the TR6. If I go with the Spit, I am favoring the 1970 round but any year is ok if no, no rust and original. That way it would be a good car to restore properly. Thanks for the vid. PS would consider a properly restore car as well.

AS the vid mentions, have an O/Ds (morethan one actually) sitting in the wings. if you're not on the highway for long stretches...it's not an issue. a V6 was a possible later mod, (again stated i nthe vid) so I didn't bother dropping in the o/d yet. :-)

2 years ago (see comments) I said $12K and i'd consider throwing in a HT. But I really have to rethink that considering what nice specimens of Spits/GT6's are going for these days. The F/R brake upgrades alone, overall condition and low mileage put it the upper range these days, i'd have to start at the mid to upper teens-K :-)
