Ahhh Jeff Ward , that takes me back, I remember when he started out on a factory backed Honda CR125 Elsinore back in the 70's. Good memories never repeated (I've just had a massive Stroke & should be dead)Trev New Zealand
Man, this whole thing is just a list of legends of the sport. I was 13 and I was there, but I only kinda remember the final. I clearly remember 70,000+ fans yelling "Whoo-ya!" in unison (KMET 94.7 legendary LA radio station battle cry).
Look how full that stadium is....good times. The announcers always kill me from back in the day.... I don’t think I hav ever seen a MX or Supercross race from the 80’s when they did not mention how physically demanding the sport is😂😂😂😂 it was a consistent part of the script for sure. Love it👍
I agree except the tracks were horribly built especially for those heavy old bikes there was no flow and it was hard for them to even really get too much speed but definitely took a lot more Grit and strength to ride those bikes and tracks for sure
Look at the stands! Packed full! Now they are.....what 20%? Back then you'd think "that could be me! A new bike is 2 weeks pay." Now a 250f is nearly 10k and needs 2-3k of motor work every season or sooner. The sport became out of reach for the average person.
