Yeah I would have been super confused if you would have told me as a kid that the Seahawks first SB win would have come against the Broncos. I still miss the AFC West it took me a decade plus to get used to the NFC West.
I was there with my dad. First Seahawks playoff game. Loudest game ever, except maybe the Beastquake game that I attended with my son. Curt Warner, Kenny Easley, Steve Largent what a great team that was!
7° in SEATTLE? Or are you talking about in Denver or some other place? Cause Seattle rarely gets below 32° in the middle of Winter, much less down to single digits!
I thought it was cool to see the Seahawks win in this clip, being their very first playoff game in franchise history!! Only 3 seasons ago ('80 season), I remember the Seahawks had started at 4-3, but finished at a terrible 4-12 record that season. Now, in the '83 season, they not only made the playoffs for the the first in franchise's history but they get their first playoff win as well, against the Denver Broncos in this AFC wildcard game in this game (31-7) @ Seattle. Also, it gets even better they upset the Miami Dolphins the week after this game (the Seahawks beat the Dolphins, 27-20, @ Miami). But too bad the Seahawks lost to the '83 Season Super Bowl Champs, the LA Raiders, 30 -14, (the next week, the AFC Championship Playoff Round @ LA. What's amazing is that the Seahawks actually beat the Raiders twice in the same '83 regular season). Even though the Seahawks finished only 9-7 in this '83 season, in my opinion, I believe this is at least the one of the best Seahawks' season (particularly the years with Chuck Knox as head coach in the nutshell).
Even better when the Hawks started 4-0 on the road last year I had to go back and double check. They actually did start 4-0 on the road, meaning they went 0-8 at the Dome the year before they drafted Kenny Easley
I still remember that this game was actually very close to being blacked out in the Seattle area. KING-TV and several ther businesses had to guarantee a sellout so KING 5 could show the game.
That I think had to do with the Seahawks not knowing they would be hosting a playoff game AND it being on Christmas Eve. Cowboys had a similar problem is Dallas where their wild card game against the Rams at Texas Stadium ALSO was nearly blacked out two days later (though in fairness, that was one of the coldest Christmas periods ever with frigid conditions even in Dallas where it was 27 degrees for that game as opposed to 67 two weeks earlier for their game with the Redskins while much of the northeast was below zero).
@@MontviewBlvdBabiez aint slowing with me watched em since i could remember..the hawks werent great for first few years till 83,but they were exciting during those times.
NFC Seahawks: We have 167 regular season wins, 13 playoff appearances, 14 playoff wins, 3 Super Bowl appearances and 1 Super Bowl victory. AFC Seahawks: Steve Largent sure was nice.
