No Toyota engine is or ever has been a joke ...For the time and what this car was meant to be the engine was perfect .It was meant to be a sporty daily driver period ..
Missing my 86.5 Supra, my 82 celica GT w/ trunk, and my 86.5 celica GT. The 86.5 is the year celica and supra became different cars and both were 2 tone bronze. As a set at the same time would be a dream. Those cars got me from homeless drop out to college grad. Aways affordable, dependable and just slow enough to stay out of trouble, yet fun.
I thought they were awesome when I was a kid in the 80s, and I still think they are awesome now! Unique, clean, sporty styling. Supras were probably the most stylish Toyotas ever built.
This was my first car. 450$. So mine wasn’t so nice. Would hardly do 70mph but it really had some low end torque. I fishtailed around every corner. Drifted like a mother. 5 speed manual and rear wheel drive. Baby! That’s some real fun.
Beautiful. I had two of them. An Black 83, and a purple 84. Except for that updated radio , the originals had graphic equalizers slide controls. This brings back good memories.
my father had 3 of these back in the 80-90 , white , black and a red one, I was still a child but I can still remember that one of them had the digital tacho , it looked very impressive to me at the time
Man that looks clean. Very very nice. We have The 83 Supra terracotta red with 56 thousand original but the paint job and the interior doesn't look anywhere near yours. The engine purrs like a kitten though. AC works great and everything.
That fuel gauge was incredibly pessimistic. It wasn't empty when the light was on. It wasn't empty when you hit E, it wasn't empty once the hand was left of the marking, and it wasn't even empty when the hand moved LEFT of the gas warning light. I never actually ran out of gas so I don't know how far it would go.
