Thankyou so very much for this!!! This was my first ever everton game as a 5 year old, with my dad and brother sitting in the upper bullens. My uncle is roy mcfarland at the time he was derbys assistant manager, after the game he took us on the pitch and in to meet the derby players, even though we had all our everton gear on! Thanks again.
I travelled from Derby for that game, I remember having a a great day, parked at Anfield and walked over the park. Had a few beers in the pubs around the ground, the spellows ?. Shame about the result, but Derby did have chances, just didn't take them, Everton were a good team back then
Shilton at the painful end of career here. Horrendous mistake for the opener, and then telling his players to push right up before kicking it straight to Heath…. Remarkable that Robson kept faith with him all the way to the 90 World Cup, where he cost England as equably badly as he did Derby in this game.
We were short a Gascoigne and Daly to make us genuine challengers again. Nothing against Cottee, but we needed pace in midfield and a genuine ball playing midfielder alongside Reid. We already had Inchy, Sharp and Clark up front.
