I love this Ford ranger it is super sick I am in the process of starting on one I have to pick it up a 1988 Ford ranger extended cab in a few days. So I am going to be starting a build series too mine's going to be a little different but I am excited to see more videos of this🤟🤟!
Thanks for your kind words. I will be posting another video about it. It’s just getting cold here already so will be putting it away soon for the winter. There fun little trucks. 👍🏼
Good morning. The upper is 2 pieces I made from different hoses you can see the 2 hose clamps in the middle. And the lower was a factory one from a ford Granada if I can remember right. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼 what are you building ?
In this video it has the Mustang II front suspension and I used 1965 ford mustang engine mounts. And made my own frame mounts for them. When it had the stock suspension. I used 1995 SN95 Mustang engine mounts reversed left for right. Thanks for watching
At first I used the 2001 V8 explorer one. Then switched to the aluminum one I got from eBay. The explorer one worked totally fine keeping it cool I just wanted to switch to the other one cause I hated the weird upper radiator hose.
Did you use the stock transmission mount ? I had a trans shop to work on mine but the ruin my motor and I never got my mount or radiator back didn't have truck long to check what it was.. I'm going 347 with c4
Hi sorry about your ordeal. Yes I used stock transmission crossmember but I cut the ends off and bolted it to the flat bottom of the frame so it doesn’t stick down so low like the stock set up.
Yes they did me dirty... took it in to rebuild trans I didn't have time to pull it out so i took the truck instead (lesson learned) so I get the call truck ready I get there one of the young boys did full burnouts in it and blew my motor you could see all the hits he made smh... oh and it's a full blown drag truck... boy I was hot
It no longer has power steering. I have a manual rack and pinion in it. I could have run a power rack but I wanted manual. What is your setup? Why can’t you fit power steering?
@@1953fords i got an 88 thunderbird turbo motor rn and the block sits too close to driver side so the power sterring dont fit, planning to run a 5.0 soon tho so i came here, thx for the help
@@GreenRanger090 I’ve had turbo coupes before but I’m kind of confused. What year ranger do you have? Cause they came with 2.3 engines with power steering. That’s how this truck was originally. I forget how the accessories are set up on the turbo coupes but you can just swap over to the factory ranger pump and bracket right? What’s making your motor offset to the driver side?
@@1953fordsi got a 1990 and when i got it the previouse owner stated that the bracket fir the power steering was clipping into the steering shaft so they cut it, we havnt found a replacement bracket to check for ourselves and since i plan to put a 5.0 in it we didnt bother checking the 2.3
Sorry for the late response. If you go back to my other videos I tell you what I get as I buy them. Most of the parts are modified to work for me. It’s not a direct kit.
What make/model/year fuel tank did you deploy at the rear? Looks a ton cheaper than a new cell and fit well! Also whos M2 f/e kit/Crossmember did you use? I have an 87 std/std build I’m in middle of. Last question, how much weight savings with M2 front end??
Hi thanks for watching. The fuel tank is actually a 1953 Ford mainline one. I had an extra. Mustang II crossmember I just ordered cheapest one I could find. It’s actually for a 1955-1959 Chevy pick up. I totally modified it to work for the ranger. Narrowed it about 4 inches. The frames on the rangers are little tough to put the mustang II crossmember in mainly because the frame kicks out around the steering box. Passenger side is straight so it’s easy. The other thing is the frame is tall. So took a lot of custom work and cutting to make it fit properly. The rack and pinion inner tie rod ends had to be cut shorter and threaded further back for the narrow width. I made my own bump steer kit. The upper A arms are speedway 7/8 narrower than stock arms. Lower arms are regular speedway motors arms. I go ahead of myself and didn’t weight the mustang II front parts like I did the original ranger parts. But I would say it’s probably a good 100 pounds lighter. I’ll have to have the truck weighed again. Before is was 2800 with me in it. But I actually just put it away for the winter. So spring time I’ll finish it up.
@@1953fords Thank You! Excellent data. I have been contemplating a kit from Street Rod Engineering but it uses extremely heavy material (and I don’t need more weight, I need less) and am afraid of not having a diagram/guide/cad sheet on the dimensions the M2 needs to make things fit myself. The crossmember location no issue, the upper mounts cut into the tall frame rail and maintaining the proper dimensions, that’s my concern. This would be my first M2 attempt.
@@mikeintn6360 it’s not as hard as it seems. The top hats all have to be same height as all the mustang II swaps. so easy to figure out like I said main problem is the driver side frame rail.
