I have no beef in saying Art Monk was the best in Redskins history but there are a lot of guys who could have an argument made for them. Bobby Mitchell and Charley Taylor are Two that come to mind. Monk wasn’t even the teams best receiver for much of his career. There were seasons when Clark, Sanders, Garrett and Brown were more productive or stepped up big in Monks absence in the playoffs. The part that is consistent is that Monk was a top 1 or 2 receiver through out his Redskins career and stepped up big when others could not like in 84 and 85 in that time period between Brown and Clark. I would also give Santana Moss an honorable mention.
I remember this game watching at home snd saying to myself, we should have just signed Eric Dickerson and with Jim Everett upcoming, we should of won a couple of Super Bowls with Willie " Flipper" Anderson, Henry Ellard and a solid 3rd receiver. They had a solid defense already being.lead Kevin Green 1988-1990. But a bunch of what ifs. These games are still fun to watch than the ones Rams put up now. The running g game has always been a trademark of the Rams, but now the Rams have shy away from the running game and become pass happy.

He had a couple of good years with the Colts … we should’ve worked it out to keep Dickerson … Bell was good, but nothing compared to Eric Dickerson … even Jackie Slater was asked who was the best running back he said Dickerson with no hesitation Jim Everett with Dickinson In back field would’ve been something special
Wow, they were ragging on Monk hard all game. If not for his 2 touchdowns and big gainer then Redskins wouldn’t have been in a position to win in the first place. I would like to see any receiver on earth hall that last pass in. Williams overthrew him and Monk got cracked. Basically an impossible catch.

Another stupid decision by Joe Gibbs I really thought it was so stupid to bench Jay he was only 20 and 6 at this time and starting after Theismann went down I believe number 10 got the shaft and might have been the first victim for the woke crowd because man all he did was win for us after playing only one game of college football and three years of minor league baseball he just steps in takes us to NFC Championship Game 86 and was the primary factor for setting us up for a Super Bowl run this season ....also he was the third pick in the Major League Baseball draft!!!
Calling Joe Gibbs stupid proves you know 0 about football. Arguably the greatest coach of all time. An offensive genius who helmed probably the greatest team of all time (the ‘91 Redskins) and won three Super Bowls with 3 different starting qb’s (a feat which will never be equaled). Gibbs took a franchise that hadn’t won a league championship in 37 years and made it into a dynasty. Please stop embarrassing your self.
Jay wad a crybaby. He never recovered from the 1986 Championship game. LT made him hear footsteps!! Plus we got Jim Lachey from the Raiders who helped us win two Super Bowls.
@@robertrowe5349 Yup. Lachey was the best lineman in the league for for 2-3 years. He was a vital cog in the ‘91 goat Redskins. Jay was mediocre due to his mercurial accuracy.
I wouldn't ever call Gibbs stupid but I agree with you about Jay Schroeder. He is still being persecuted to this day. I never seen him act like a cry baby. He was a reserved guy but a good guy according to all his teammates except Doug Williams. The way Williams talked about a fellow teammate on that America's Game episode was shameful. From what I have heard, Jay was a good honest man and a Christian.
@@MaximusWolfe I agree with you on all of that but I also think that history could treat Jay a bit better. He won a lot of games for us and stepped up after Theismann got injured.
