I was 11 also born in 78 , but I remember also this game , I'm a browns fan but loved Barry Sanders .. u never see Barry fumble like that the rest of his career...
The Toledo War. Both teams have faced each other in the NFL Championship Game 4 times in the 1950s (Detroit is 3-1 against Cleveland in postseason play).
I was 29 years old living in Las Vegas near Charlestown and Interstate 15 in a fleabag apartment had less than a thousand bucks to my name I was at a dinner at Gambler I remember this game distinctly I had no action on it but I walked at The Palace Station the next year of 1990 I'm miraculously won a football handicapping contest at the Barbary Coast Casino and got a check for $25,000
I remember this classic, when rookie Barry Sanders was the only reason, I watched for 9 seasons. The game was called by Dick Enberg, and former SUPER BOWL HEAD COACH Bill Walsh, believe it or not.
I remember this game being blacked out, meaning fans in Detroit weren't able to watch it. The NFL always wanted sellouts for the home team for the fans at home to view it. This game was not a sellout. It was a common theme for Lions fans for many years.
They've got a good, exciting young team. If they have a good season this year, as most expect they will, they'll be on Thanksgiving next year probably.
9:32 I remember William White. I loved watching that team play. I own quite a few of his football cards. He was part of the 91 Lions that went to the playoffs and beat the Cowboys 38-6. You won't be forgotten. RIP #35 William White.
This was a significant upset at the time. The Browns were a perennial contender and the Lions a perennial last-place team. This would start a trend for the Lions under Fontes of catching fire on Thanksgiving and playing great in December. They did that almost every year he was the coach.
The good old days when games could end in a tie. I guarantee there won't be any tie games in 2021. Or rest of this decade. Tie games represent the past. The past is racist according to SJW Wokens. NFL panders to BLM now.
@@chrisuncleahmad I liked it better when NHL had ties. I hate shootouts. That is ok for youth leagues and high school games. But not the pros. Nor do I like seeing a team get an automatic point just for reaching overtime. Only thing more dumb is MLB putting an automatic runner on second base during extra innings.
