1:38:10. The moment. THE! MOMENT! Arrowhead Stadium became “ARROWHEAD”! I watched this as a 13 year old and remember getting goosebumps and my hair sticking up the back of my neck. Getting that feeling again right now.
I was at this game. I was sitting on 45 yard line with the row behind me being the parking lot. I remember I could see everything. What I remember about this game was the flea flickerr, the noise controversy, the missed extra point although I thought it was the chiefs th a t missed it and the 4th down touchdown that won the game. Also remember this game for the guy sitting on the billboard.
Yes Walsh was excellent in the booth. He was later asked why he left it and he said he couldn’t take the interns talking to him in his earpiece constantly telling him what to do 😂
I remember this game. I was in third grade, my first year as a fan, watching on TV, when I learned what a "flea flicker" was by seeing my Broncos get toasted by that DeBerg to Paige gem. The Broncos' safeties in that era (Atwater and Dennis Smith) were excellent in run support, as Chiefs fans of all ages are well aware (see Atwater/Okoye MNF encounter!). This was a good thing most of the time, but every once in a while, it resulted in the Broncos' secondary being made to look silly by a well-timed flea flicker or a deep ball off play action.
That was a hell of a flea flicker! Broncos defenses were really good in the 90s but it’s crazy how everybody in the AFC West had excellent defenses in this era. This is when the AFC West was at its best.
I can appreciate Elway a lot more now that we have Mahomes. KC wasn’t a cursed team, they just never had the two most important pieces in place at the same time QB and HC
Marty had Dave Krieg, Steve Deberg, Joe Montana, Steve Bono, Rich Gannon, and Elvis Grbac ,now with Montana and bono and Gannon the chiefs had pretty good regular season but in the playoffs all those great teams lead by Schottenheimer Couldn’t win and make it to the afc championship game,I believe in 1995 and 1996 the chiefs had the best regular season record in the afc but they couldn’t get past the divisional playoff round game. And I believe the reason why? Marty ball he played to safe with a vanilla Play calling, he never took any chances by playing not to lose , you always lose.he took that same playbook to San Diego chargers and lost twice in the afc championship games, his coaching sucked!
@@Blackman19498 What are you talking about? He lost to Denver multiple times. Then in San Diego he had the best teams and lost because of crazy situations he even tried coaching for. Marty is one of the greatest coaches of all time. Go back and watch those playoff games. They were thrilling and close calls.
This is when the rivalries in the AFC West were real. Broncos/Chiefs, Chiefs/Raiders, and the Chiefs always played classic games with the Chargers and Seahawks. Broncos/Raiders was a bitter rivalry too. This game was the first time the Chiefs beat the Broncos, and it took Marty Schotthemeir 7 tries to beat Dan Reeves. I was 10 years old in 1990. Broncos used to beat the Chiefs like the Chiefs have beat the Broncos for the past year. But one thing for sure, Chiefs won’t take the Broncos for granted anymore. Bad team or not from now on they got to come ready to play against this team. Throw out the 16-1 record.
Funny thing is, if the Chiefs hadn’t blown that home game against Seattle, they would have been division champs with a first round bye and probably playing the Bills in the AFC Championship game.
Bill Walsh @25:20 . Even as a Bears fan back in 1990, I could agree with that statement after week 14. The 49ers were the reigning champs and they looked tough they squeaked a win out on the Giants in week 13. Of course the Giants won the rematch in another defensive battle in the NFC Championship. Going into week 14, the Bears and Giants were a game behind the 49ers at 10-2. The Bears went up on the Redskins 9-0 but with no more offense, it wasn’t enough. That was Bears problem going into December and into the playoffs.
Dt’s sack list up in the stands. 2 dt sacks in this game prompts the tv cameras to show it. I was part of the Atchison Ks foundry gang there that made the sack list and the elway dummy. 29 minutes in (first sack) and 2:25 in for second sack. True story: security made us move the elway dummy off the railing because of people down below being scared of it falling on them. And when the game was over, we dragged the elway dummy out of the stadium behind us. Fans came up n kicked and picked on it. Even spit on it. Time we reached the exit of arrowhead there was no dummy left😅
So, this is the one… The game where Elway was being a baby back bitch about the noise in the stadium. 33 years later, and nothing has changed; the #RedKingdom is, has been and always will be #LoudAndProud!🎉
I believe so. Reeves wore suits sometimes when he became the Giants HC and that was the mid-90's.Head coaches today are prohibited by the NFL to wear suits during games.
