One punch 75 and two Kicker comp 12 inch subs in a sealed box was the hot set up back in the early nineties.

man I remember running a whole system with that punch 75 , caps and chokes on the mids and highs and a 6.0 coil on the bass driver that was the good old days when you would use just one amp and it sounded great, fader what fader we don't need no stinking fader!!! lol

Thats all we could afford, run the sub bridged and the mids and tweets in stereo. We called it mixed mono. fat inductor on the sub, caps on the rest.

I remember when Rockford fosgate first came to my town in 91 and it blew out the competition. They're some of the best amps ever built back then. And still til this day are the best by far.

@@JaredElliott1 they were not all based $1 a watt. Like the power 1000/650/300 mosfet from the late 80s/90s. Even more expensive 😂. I guess where that high of power was hard to get back then. Prices have definitely changed but I still prefer the oldschool!!!
@JaredElliott1

@@thatonebrittanyYou definitely got what you paid for back then. I owned a cheap pyramid or something back in '91 or so and it was junk. Rated 100w but probably only 25 or so. I blew the chip out and replaced it myself, back in business. Then I encountered Orion, everything changed. 225 HCCA Digital Reference. I now have an Orion 2500.1 Dz @ 2971w.

Yeah boi ! Great video, audio, tutorials as always. Legit testing. Back in the day late 80's early 90's mini trucking & cruising chasing the ladies my system consisted of : Interstate 1,000 cold cranking amp battery, Harman Kardon CR151 pull out head unit with 3 sets of RCAs pre outs & 5-6 volts, Audio Art 3 way Xover, Rockford Fosgate Punch 30 driving Audio Art mids & tweets, Punch 75HD driving 2 RF 8" truck boxes & Hi Fonics Thor VII driving 2 10" SAS Bazookas.. High quality car audio companies that actually exceeded their hype. Awesome memories & nostalgia

This test was right on time for me. I just had a discussion with a friend. He was putting down Rockford Fosgate and kicker making a speech about how today's amplifiers are so much better than old school. I can't wait to forward this video of the 75 watt Rockford Fosgate amplifier killing it on the dyno, Showing proof. I only wish you added the "does it bump" part as usual. Oh well, we can have everything. This should work though.

Ur buddie know nothing..old school was about all 1 dollar per watt for real usa made..now days amp is not truly watts! It say 5k watts but do half watts! Back then it's Underrated, say 75watt but do 1500watts!
@Mr.Robert1
@Mr.Robert1 11 месяцев назад
@@bonthor7515 Part of it. Not only wattage. Better quality sound, did not get hot, lasted longer, much less distortion, drained less amperage from the electrical system. To this day to get good quality we must spend good money. There is always Middle Ground. Getting something that's a good value for the money.

Always great to see the videos you put out on the old school stuff. I like the quicker run down of the test rather then letting the video drag to long. Keep up the amazing work. Also for a suggestion, I have always been looking into buying old school stuff either online or through local tag sales or what not. Maybe you can do a video into what to look for and what to avoid. Or tips and tricks into old school audio. Again keep up the great work.

These take me back to my childhood! My older brother had a 150 on 4 cerwin Vegas 12"s and a 45 on the mids and highs... We laugh at it by today's standards, but that chevy nova used to dump that thump for those times😅! I've been waiting to see the db drive okur A72000.1 ran so I can get an idea whereas if I can run it daily at 1/2 ohm. I ran 1 ohm on 1 15" RE audio sx three years ago and could out beat 4 12"s. Today I have 3 15" RE audio sxx v2 with three db drive amplifiers waiting on install. Really wanting to see what that amp is capable of squeezing out.

This was when you bought a Rockford fosgate amp and get serious power for your money ....owned a punch 45 and punch 150 they were tough as nails and for the strong ....the plug was the only down side ....could be problematic at times if you didn't mount them away from the enclosure ....and if you mounted them on the enclosure you were just asking for trouble .....but that being said briged they made some serious power for the time....I ran a punch 150 in a extended cab 2000 s 10 with one 15 in JL audio w series 15 in a slot ported subzone enclosure and it would pound ....that was around 2005-2008 and people were amazed at the "thump" I was getting out of that small of an amp ( they were judging it by it size) and wasn't a basshead in the early 90s like I was either ......most had never even seen a Punch 150 ......it would launch a full 24 oz can of beer off the top of the cab of the truck no problem and I hate distorted bass and or music coming from a system .....this was clear brilliant deep bass .....and of course I had miss and highs (Alpine ) running off a punch 45 with a bass blocking crossover .....yes it was old school for the times but it would put newer way more expensive systems to shame .......so glad to have been a teenager in the 90s ......

The 75 then went on to run my mids and midbass and sounded damn good.

o.o i remember back before you had the dyno lol been so long since i had seen one of your videos tho i had forgot that i was even subbed but its awesome that you got one of the steve meade amp dynos :D keep up the good videos! i would like to ask tho do you know the RMS of a 1000 watt sony xplod from roughly 6 years ago? they claim 380 rms but i doubt that lol

Can you retest the punch 150HD with your amp dyno, because the numbers from the 75HD seem to put the 150 to shame a little bit, especially the 2 ohm mono test.

Test the old school sherwood amps..Back in 80's central Florida that's all we could get our hands on..the old sherwoods..

Those are on the list as I’m curious too. I recall them being great budget amps!

My friend swore by these small rf amps. I never cared for their sound in his setups. I was used to mtx sound and to me the were polar opposite

John Pleitz designed both the 1993 RF DSM amps and the 1994 MTX Thunder series amps. These are legendary 👌

I wasn't aware of that! Sounds like a real audio wiz that John pleitz. Gotta say your ability to gather the equipment necessary and organize these videos is top notch. Figuring out how to test what these wiz guys throw at you is impressive

Dereck you should start putting together graphs of the power output vs impedance at certified/uncertified/dynamic settings. I wouldnt mind helping you with that.. just need to get some time off work lol..
