Ronnie Lott and the Raiders take on Steve Young and the 49ers. It's his first game vs his former team in what turned out to be a low scoring, hard hitting affair!
This was a GREAT upload brother THANK YOU🙏🏼👍🏼..Only happened a handful of times per season but when we had 90k+ packed in the Coliseum for a big game it was special I don’t think there was a better atmosphere in the league at that time..beautiful thing☠️🏉🖤
It only happened four times in the 12 seasons in Los Angeles. 1984,1986, this game (1991) and in 1992. This was the only win for the Raiders in front of 90,000+ at home.
@@TheWakeup011 Haley was bipolar (had not been diagnosed at the time) and he was furious that the 49ers had let Lott, who was his best friend on the 49ers, go after the previous season. Seeing his BFF on the other side, and losing the game to a team they should have beaten, sent Haley over the edge and he started destroying the locker room afterwards.
@TheWakeup011 he was still angry and couldn't forgive George Seifert at the 1990 Pro Bowl when Seifert cut Ronnie Lott at the Pro Bowl his best friend mentor big brother figure and father figure that meant so much to Haley when they played together with the 49ers
I remember watching this game in its entirety, I was 11 yrs old, I was a diehard Jerry Rice fan and I remember him coming down on his head yikes, but it was weird seeing it after all these years
Back in the late 80s and early 90s, the Raiders didn't always win but they always won against the 49ers. (before the 1994 MNF Shellacking at Candlestick)
One of the darkest autumns in LA sports...Dodgers blew the NL West race in the final weekend, Rams went 3-13, Raiders went from 9-4 to 9-8 (counting playoffs), Magic announced he had HIV. Oyyyy
Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot you know it brother...What cracked me up was in Sep ‘92, the San Diego Union Tribune (the morning of SC’s game with SDSU) misprinted USC’s ‘91 record as 8-3 😂🤣
Ronnie Lott #42 of the Los Angeles Raiders Career Accomplishments 10× Pro Bowl selection 8× First-team All-Pro selection All-Pro selection at 3 different positions (cornerback, free safety and strong safety) 2× NFL interceptions leader 4× Super Bowl champion 1980's All-Decade Team Pro Football Hall of Fame selection Statistics 1,146 tackles 73 Interceptions with 730 return yards 16 forced fumbles 17 fumble recoveries 5 touchdowns
I just can’t get over how many different premiere-name running backs the Raiders had over a 5 year period that overlapped the late 1980s and early 1990s: Allen, Bo, Craig, Dickerson, the perennially underrated Greg Bell, to name just a few. They just never quite got any of them at a point where they could give you a 16 game season in their prime: over the hill, injuries, spats with Al Davis, or could only commit to half a season.
Most of that was because of the Allen-Davis feud. Allen was arguably the best player in the league and was a blocking back for Bo and then later third or fourth on the depth chart as they continually brought other guys in. Just unbelievable and looking back as an outsider sad that Allen had to endure this.
@@danieltilson4912 Oh STFU. Rebels don't cheer injuries. Stop it. Sick of you dummies thinking you can define fandom for other people. It was tacky. You don't cheer injuries.
That day, both the Raiders and Rams were home on CBS...and later that year, Raiders @ Denver was at the same time as KC @ Rams, both on NBC. It’s like the networks knew the Rams wouldn’t sellout - so there’d be no conflict over who to televise!! 😂
I wish they hadn't blocked your 2000 oakland raiders season vid, that thing was phenominsl. I know it's there somewhere, tried to trick yt into thinking I was in a diff country to access it, but it never worked, could see it's existence there though. Im not a Raider fan, but 2000 was cool to see them and Chucky take the next step....if not for the Ravens god mode defense that year, maybe we'd be talking sb champs. There's something sexy about the silver n black, I want you guys to be good, it's good for the nfl
@@joewanke6000 the 1990 Raiders at Lions game is on my twitter page (@NYRaider88). Type the game in the search bar on my page there and it should show up. If not, let me know so I can repost it.

This game on CBS with Pat and John was a field goal fest at the LA Coliseum. A young Steve Young at QB for SF. Final score was a 12-6 win for the Raiders. This was the only game that the Raiders won out of the 4 that drew 90,000+ in their 12 years in Los Angeles. The attendance that Sunday September 29, 1991 was 91,494. There were many Niner fans in attendance as well. The other three 90,000+ games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum were against Dallas in 1992, vs. Denver in 1984 and 1986. All those three were losses at home for the Raiders. They moved back to Oakland after the 1994 season.
@@RaiderClassics So true lol Thanks for posting. Brought back good memories of being there that day. We attended the Raiders team dinner after the game at the hotel across from USC on Figueroa. Saw Mr. Davis and met HOFs like Jim Otto which showed us his Super Bowl ring. Appreciate the post.
Would've made the NFC playoffs really really interesting. If the 49ers had won the Falcons game, they're 11-5 and the wild card. But instead of getting the Falcons spot, they actually get Chicago's spot and rematch the Bears after destroying them on Monday Night football (52-14) the week before. The Cowboys would actually have gone to New Orleans to play the Saints. And if they had won and the 49ers had won, Dallas would've gone to Washington and San Francisco would've gone to Detroit, who they had beaten 35-3 in the regular season. Those would've been two really really intriguing matchups.
If this game would have been week 2 or 3...even with the lack of sellouts in LA, I think TNT could have done their one and only Sunday Night game at the coliseum
The NFL refused to schedule night games at the Coliseum after 1985 - some thought it was because of the crime-ridden area surrounding it, others thought the NFL was punishing Al Davis by refusing to feature his team since they never wanted him to play the Raiders' home games in LA anyway. Either way the Raiders didn't play a night game at home from 1986-1995.
@@walterlv01 it was because of a lack of sellouts. Once they returned to Oakland, they started hosting night games. The area too dangerous? Is that why SC hosted at least one night game there every year back then? Even more now.
