The socket and electrical tape idea is a great hack. I've done that a few times when I'm in a time crunch. 10mm fits perfect for Honda B-Series lol

Adding to the already mentioned story of the names: the companies are both quite old and the names come from "three diamonds" as for Mitsubishi (the -bishi/hishi part also readable as "water chestnut" or "caltrop" too according to kanji), and Mitsuboshi comes from "three stars". Both directly shown on their respective logos. Mitsubishi was quite big until the formation of Mitsuboshi around the 30s, but disbanded on WWII. The distinction is enough for there not to be confusion for them, say like if there was a "Heck Tool shop" and another, unrelated one named "Jack Tool Shop", not like you're ripping one off, even tho Mitsubishi and Mitsuboshi sound similar to us

heck, there's even confectionery store named mitsuboshi but they use different 3 star logo and deal with things that are not car parts related so it's okay

I was quite sure that it was "3 diamonds" not tree, as mitsu is one of the many counter words in Japanese meaning 'three'.

It's about time, waiting for parts is the worst! Edit: kudos for keeping this car in original and correctly improved configuration. They are far to rare to be cut up and modified. Bolt- ons are the way to go!

That newspaper part just made me laugh so hard😆 Hay fever prevention, inheritance, patent registration, hair foundation, healthy beans with garlic egg yolk with clams and oyster..... It really shows that only old people would still buy newspapers in Japan nowadays. I have been a subscriber since I saw the AZ-1 project. Please let me know if there is any help or support you might want from Japan.

I know an engine swap on the AZ-1 is not feasible, but I would love to see that little turbo engine REALLY goosed up, making another 50 or so hp. Thanks for the video Tom, always enjoy watching! And thanks for the Zebronkey!

No doubt, it would LOVE the extra power I'm sure. The limitation is engine management. A full standalone is required at this point unfortunately to do any sort of big power mods. By big I mean greater than 10-15hp for this little creature. 😀 Glad you you enjoyed the Zebronkey!

It's very important to use the right size spark plugs or the engine won't fit in the car. In fact it's lucky you keep it super clean since any dust particle might take up too much room in the engine bay area.

Yeah. He better wipe everything down with break cleaner before he shims it back in, or the tolerances will be off.

Fun fact: Mitsuboshi has been making belts for Y E A R S. I don't know if they've been around as long as Mitsubishi, but probably pretty close. I'm sure Google could tell us.

Nice, another vid :) ... this thing reminds me of working on my 88 Fiero GT in high-school, I remember the cam lobes rounded out and resulted in my first R&R of an engine in a much much smaller garage than than this, gah that was a baptism by fire

Its impossible to appreciate how small this car is until you've seen one in person! I just saw one at the Lane Motor Museum, ITS SO SMALL! The hand completely covering the clutch was as good as you can get in a video to describe JUST HOW SMALL!!!

Now thats the tuning this car deserves... the new exhaust and the coilovers to give yu more confident at corners and to make yu go fast at turns... Here's a suggestion from a random subscriber who subscribed just after watching that az 1 , make a target of why do yu tune this car for... the midnight club from japan tune their car to go faster in wangan street.. the drag car tune their car to accelerate quicker in straight line and yu tune your car to go fast in in turns and corners.., to go fast on dragon tail road....

Mitsu means three in Japanese and I’m pretty sure both Mitsubishi and Mitsuboshi are family names. Both logos are likely based on their respective family emblems which probably are related to a three pointed shape.

yeah Mitsu is three and Bishi means Ruby and Boshi means Star. Mitsubishi means "3 Ruby" and Mitsuboshi means "3 star"

Came to make the comment that Andre made he is exactly correct. Mitsu is the way you say 3 when counting something. Not just the number "san" or 3. If you were to ask for water at a restaurant you would ask for "mitsu" not "san". Enjoy the day everyone !!
