Nope those were the hydraulic lifters, you could hear them quieting down at higher revs. The engine manual suggests fast idle for 10 mins or so to ensure they get fully pumped up before any quick revving. If not there's a chance they could be damaged and at £55 each can be an expensive repair.

@eppyz

@@Anarchy522XD wowza if that is a PCV valve making that much noise then it needs to be replaced. If that is what it was.. I figured since it was 33F in the garage was either noisy lifters or the injectors...

Might I recommend perhaps... an insulated garage door? lol. I just got my hands on a couple of EdenPure 120V IR heaters. These things are no joke. One of the little miniature units I got can easily heat 750 square feet. I plugged them in in my house and my power bill dropped $110/mo through this winter. They're fairly quiet, but boy do they work. There's also one model called the "Comfort Deluxe 1500", and it will efficiently heat 1000 square feet.
@TomsTurboGarage
@TomsTurboGarage 5 лет назад
Haha! Doing a DIY garage door is one of those jobs that seems simple but is quite the job, especially with the “giant bag of assorted fasteners” which is just the worst. I have planned to get a mini split setup, but it’s just so low on the priority list. I have thought about the type of heater you picked up, thank you for the first hand review!

Kei sports cars are humorously tiny for Americans, and make more sense when you are on the streets in Japan, but it is cool to see people get their hands on the "exotic" stuff. Ok..little tips on installing coilover... 1-get the spring pre-load adjustment collar to zero mm height (means the collar just touching the spring fully seated) 2-adjust ride height using the coilover body adjustment... 3-if it came with pillowball top mount at front, try rotating the top mount with correct holes to gain higher caster (if possible) will greatly improves handling and steering feedback

Over the years...I’ve tore apart my share of my personal GM, Toyota and Datsun’s. I’ve found the overall quality of fasteners (bolts) out of my Japanese cars was much higher than my GM cars. The Japanese bolts have a yellowish coating that seem to resist corrosion better. Since we here in Michigan receive copious amounts of road salt...corrosion resistance of any sort is a quite welcomed quality we can never get enough of.
@delukxy
@delukxy 5 лет назад
Yellow finish is yellow zinc plating. Slightly better corrosion resistant than clear/bluish zinc plating. Cheap to refurb all of your old nuts/bolts/brackets when doing a resto as they are done by weight. Just take in a bucket full. There will probably be a minimum charge and you might have to go back home and get some more to meet the weight.

I believe the yellow/gold colour is a chromate conversion coating of the zinc plated bolts called passivate which increases the resistance to corrosion... Passivated bolts are a lot better than standard zinc coated bolts.

I love the exhaust sound! It's similar to the one on my car (minus the rumble from unequal length headers). That deep drone without excessive raspiness or popping gives it a refined authority that seems to say, "I'm letting you know I'm here, but I'm not trying to show off." Of course the drone can be a bit monotonous on long highway trips, but the majority of the time it puts an evil grin on your face. It's hard to resist the temptation to drive around with the windows down all year long, including in the dead of winter.

Oh man, that Fujitsubo muffler looks BEAUTIFUL. I have a Fujitsubo rear muffler on my JDM twin turbo Subaru Legacy wagon, too; I got it basically brand new from UpGarage a couple years ago. It is SUCH a nice, high quality piece that looks and sounds great. The car has been through a lot of hard driving and abuse (no more winter driving for it though), and that muffler is still looking fresh as ever. Best part is, it was dirt cheap...before shipping, lol. I bought and installed an HKS mid-pipe to go with it, and will eventually do headers and downpipes to hopefully make it sound and perform even better!
