Those numbers were overstated... they didn't leave the factories with that much hp. They were far advanced in tech at the time, however.

@@juliangeorge1722 I'd beg to differ I took out the little restrictor that is supposed to bring the car to 320 hp 315 lb ft of torque and my car on 11lbs if boost was making 235 wheel hp and 255 wheel torque I believe at the flywheel that's like 315 350 ish because of the awd dilution

Back in 1991 I was selling these cars the R/T twin turbo V6 24 valve was rated at 300 horsepower the non turbo version was rated 222 horsepower and in the ES model was also was available with NT V6 24 valve motor and Base model there was a 3.0 V6 12 valve motor that made 164 horsepower. Oh no by the way the Countach was never available with all-wheel drive you're thinking of the Diablos and newer Lamborghinis.

Thats faster that what a 350 hp Ford focus rs runs in the 1/4 mile🤭 dont sleep on those second gen Stealth tt/3000gt vr-4s

X Lets Im in Cali and picked my 95’ Dodge Stealth r/t in Los Angeles for only 1,000 dollars. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET A MANAUL TRANSMITTION. The autos in these cars were weak but the Manuals could go well over 200,000 miles and they have some power to them too. My NA Stealth is faster than my Friends Brz with full exhaust and intake. I only chopped off the big ass muffler i had and put a 2.5 inch straight pipe and i pull on his Brz easily. Also these NA models are a lot more reliable than the Twin Turbo models. These are funs cars man 👍🏽

I have a 92TT and two 92 NA cars... Love them!! The NA cars are still potent enough to embarrass lots of cars out there, and the TT... well, the big "TWIN TURBO" on the doors scares most off but those that take on the challenge, Mustangs n such, dont have an easy time at all!!

Another great video Lou. When I was in mechanic school I got to work on a white 1991 model. This was 2011 and it was the first Dodge Stleath R/T that I had seen before and I really enjoyed working on that car. The owner had owned it since brand new and the car overheated and cracked the block and just couldn't get rid of it. So he found another motor for us to put in it. I really enjoyed working on that car.

This gave me nostalgia from when I was younger going into a garage shop looking at the stealth and viper next to a Mercedes-Benz 190e. Those DOHC were such a big deal! ... Back when you could drive a car that really FELT unique and suped up! The feeling, at the time, of BEING around sports cars was so much different from today's cars that feel like boredom, unless they are actual supercars or track cars.

Oddly enough, I was just at a U Pick and Pull salvage yard in BI Il.3 weeks ago and they had 2 Stealths there which is pretty rare! The 1st was a 91 base model with the auto, was red but somebody painted it black. It was 90% there with some body trim damaged and a couple broken windows. The other was a 92 ES auto. GREAT interior, and trim. Even the wheels were still there, which are tough to find. That 1 was blk on blk. Somebody loved that car. New timing belt and w/p, new valve cover gaskets, a set of NOS side mirrors in the backseat, 2 NOS quarter glass panels in the trunk that had the Stealth ES lettering on them, ( should've bought those) all new brakes, several new frt end chassis parts installed, and it was untouched.. with keys! I remember seeing these cars brand new in Dodge dealers when my dad was looking at 91 and 92 Daytonas. I begged him to get an R/T turbo in the worst way, with a stick... He didn't. These were expensive cars! Years later while working for a local GoodYear, the alignment techs said they couldn't do the alignments on the AWD cars because their machine didn't list the car, nor the 3000 GT to give them specs. Several came in because they had the GoodYear tires on them as std equipment, but beyond replacing the tires, we couldn't help them. Neat cars, and way underrated, IMO .

WOW!!! At my first job, in 1992ish, I worked at a Mitsubishi dealership and my boss had a 1991 Dodge Stealth Indy Pace Car, loaded, like the one featured - it was a kind of like a REALLY light grey, almost white color, with color matched wheels and red pace car decals. I think that the car pictured should've had all wheel steering, too. I could be wrong... The irony was, I got a ride in a Dodge Stealth, once, but I got drive Mitsi 3000GT VR4s regularly! The blisters on the hood are probably there for pedestrian protection, adding a crucial inch or so air gap between the point of impact by an unlucky pedestrian and the “hard” strut top mount. This is a legal requirement and has prevented car designers creating really low bonnet lines...

The Official Pace Car for the 1991 Indy 500 was originally supposed to be the 91 Stealth Twin Turbo. After some complaints from the UAW about the use of an import to represent Dodge, the Official Pace Car duty was given instead to a 92 Dodge Viper (a pre-production car, as it was still in development at the time), not a Cadillac. It was driven by Carroll Shelby. The Stealth was redesignated as "Official Car," and was used as the backup pace car.

his son is right. the boomerang shaped spoiler mounted at the bottom of the hatchback glass is a poor look; as are the brake lights facing skyward. like a 2003 civic had later. only to differentiate it from 3000GT. someone told me that japanese vs american badged cars: as in: conquest Tsi/cordia the agreement was made to make one have faster acceleration, and the other: boast a higher top speed. little known fact here- the only 3000GT option unavailable to the stealths was electronically adjustable front windshield tint. there was a "VR4." i'm not aware of there being 4WD stealths. fit and finish always worse than mitsubishi. didn't hold value and often wrecked by punks who got 'em used for next to nothing. i didn't know there was ONE left, until today! thanx, LOU.

Lol electronically controlled windshield tint!?? What are you talking about? Both the 3000gt and stealth were built in Nagoya Japan and have the same fit and finish. The only differences are the bumpers, headlights, taillights, sail panels and spoilers.
@fuzz7boy
@fuzz7boy 3 года назад
Some corrections to this statement: - Stealth R/T Twin Turbos and 3000GT VR-4s have identical drivetrains. Same engine and transmission, same acceleration, same top speed. - Dodge Stealths were made on the same assembly line in Nagoya, Japan by the same people as the Mitsubishi 3000 GT (known as the GTO in the rest of the world). Absolutely no difference in quality. - The Mitsubishi 3000 GT was not sold in Canada, where this Dodge Stealth is from. - There was never an "electronically adjustable front windshield tint" offered on any Stealth or 3000 GT. - All Stealth Twin Turbos were All Wheel Drive (known as AWD, not 4WD), same as the VR-4. Non-turbo models for both makes were Front Wheel Drive. - The one item that differentiated the early year 3000GT VR-4 from the Stealth R/T Twin Turbo was the (standard, not optional) active aerodynamic spoilers. The Stealth had passive aerodynamics instead; air flowed behind the outer C-pillars and across the boomerang wing that you described as "a poor look." Beauty is subjective.

From what I remember, you couldn't get an R/T AWD in anything but a 5 speed, later 6 speed manual. If you wanted an auto, you topped out at an R/T with 222 hp. AWD and AWS was n/a with an auto. Though the body and interior were designed by Dodge, the Bloomington/Normal plant used Mistu running gear and electronics as part of the agreement by Chrysler, which was shared by the 3000. As large as these cars were overall, the interior space as fairly small except up frt. And these cars were really expensive! Though the cars could spank a Mustang GT or Camaro IROC all day in their higher opted forms, they couldn't touch sales. I remember seeing an R/T AWD in 1993 on the showroom floor at $40k.. That was more than a top Vette of the time.
