This is just a quick run down of replacing a wheel cylinder on a one ton box van with floating axles. Simple to do just a bit harrowing if you have never pulled one apart.
A little advice adam. On the back side of the brake drum there should be a rubber plug about where your self adjuster is. Take the plug out and use a straight screw driver and adjust the brakes up. Do not go so tight the brakes drag but just a little resistance. You do that and when you bleed your brakes you will have a higher brake pedal.
This is the only video of a E-350 brake drum that I have found so far so thank you for making this. On the down side why didn't you show how how you got the cylinder out and how you got it back in? The back plate is not easily accessible to get the brake line off and difficult for me access the bolts on the back of the cylinder. Did you use a specialty tool? They say if the brake line is siezed like mine is to remove the 2 bolts and pull the cylinder out and just rotate the cylinder. This very difficult because of the weird angle the brake line goes in at. This is the information I really need. Apparently I am not the only one either. It's very frustrating to see someone come on here and make a video and say look how easy this is. Then I go out to my van and realize it's not an easy fix at all. To be honest I'm really stuck right now.
I definitely agree im at that point where i dont know how to get the cyclinder out...im stuck also and wish there would be a video on how to get the cyclinder off back plate.?????
I wish you would have went a little more in depth on how to take that E brake off and how to swing it up and out and how to crack that line open and get that cylinder out without tearing the shit out of the brake line. I may shoot a video of an overhaul im doing to my E350 and post up the Video. You are the only one ive found on you tube that that has posted a video on an E350-F350- 1TON Thank YOU for Sharing!
+alien4fish yea i agree especially since i just found out theres a nut in the back of it AFTER i beat the washer off and yanked out the spring behind it.. guess im junk yard hopping to find the parts
