Thanks for the video. I just made this swap in my 93 today and I can't tell you how helpful this was. I'm not a car guy at all so I referenced this vid through the entire process.

Folks this guy did a decent illustration but like every other video they leave important details out it's just like stepping on a booby trap. #1) Completely disconnect your battery these trucks from 91 to 1993 have some really queer cheap wiring behind the dash in for the HVAC actuators/servos and if you do like I did leave a raw wire on metal I almost burnt my truck up. Also make sure the shifter is in 1st gear it helps to get the dash out... A dash removal is lengthy real nightmare because it is so time consuming. Last the front seats on these trucks are so simple to remove this type of project goes so smoothly if you make a little room in a corner of the garage or shed and take the seats out man I made some time while taking apart the donor truck. I always go to these U-Pull it yards and take the donor truck apart first. If you're gonna make a fuck up let it be on the donor truck not yours. And nine chances out of ten that salvage truck will still be apart in the U-Pull it yard should you discover you need something else it's right there all apart in front of ya... No time wasted... When I do a project like this I look for trucks all ready pulled apart and look for what I need. I'll pull all the actuators especially if they look like they've been replaced.

It's much harder than what this gentleman shows. Just did mine it's time consuming. Thanks for the video tho

Awesome upload. It's hard finding any footage on the 93 full size blazer. I need to redo my whole dash but that's a lot of friggin work. I'll just try patching and painting it somehow.

Thanks for the video. I have mine out now before someone supplied a link to this video.My old one wasn't too bad to get out because it was crispy like a taco shell. This will help when I go back together with one I found at a salvage yard.

is there a way to just leave the bulky part above the instrumental gauges and such out but still have a nice looking dash, or is there an aftermarket dash for a 1993 chevy c3500?

I just did this job this morning. To save time, you don't need to remove the steering wheel or the right AC vent. I had the dash out and the heater box removed and disassembled in 2 1/4 hrs. The hardest part of the job is getting the screws out of the back of the dash that hold the wiring harness and the screws that hold the inner molded duct work that blocks the wiring harness. This job is definitely a PITA.

Hi: Scotty, this was pretty extensive. The fuse box is where I have a 25 Amp burnt wire. I located it and want to replace it. With the dash out, now all of the wires clearly exposed in the wiring harness there in your video. Thanks. Now, Scotty, do you have any info on matching the color coded wire(s) diagram for each of the fuses to the panel box? The fuses range from highest 30 Amp to 5 Amps. This all I will require to ensure the the damaged wire(s) are replaced by tracing them all to ensure again any damaged ones in my truck in the wiring harness from the fuse panel under the steering column are identified, replaced or repaired. Thank you for this video creation.

I’m no one to bash someone who took the time to make this video for others to see but he is missing a lot more. I took on this challenge after taking the time to view this demo. There’s a lot more to it involved that I wish I had know. I was I’ll prepared and wished I had know more. 1.) that center Xmas tree in the center ac vent is a mother!!!!! 2.) the plastic dash is riveted to center metal support. You will require to bust out rivers if you want to remove it w out it 3) there’s wiring clipped on difficult to remove easily I’d go on and on but it’s too much I appreciate the time someone took but not when it’s completely truthful or complete.

I actually just did this to my 94 Silverado. I swapped out the blue for the grey. All I did was 1st drop the steering wheel. unscrewed the screws along the windshield and the 2 main nuts on the right and left door sides. The whole Dash just swung down away from the windshield (pivoting on the 2 bolts on the left and right bottom door sides.) Un-did the wiring and pulled it right out. Much easier than undoing all those little screws.

I took the whole dash out part by part and recolored it black on my 94 and inside of the roof i changed it to a custom black :) my truck has a nice bronze/carrot looking color and it looks amazing! Still need to do the carpet and seats which are very comfortable 10/10 feels like a bed no joke :) but nice video btw

Great video! How would you go about getting the parking break release handle out? There are two tabs for the parking break release behind the dash, but no amount of squeezing those will get them out. Any ideas?

I did this once in my 94 obs... lots of work!

how did chevy not make the dash core in 2 halfs if the top breaks near window easy replace.

disconnect the battery. remove your steering wheel. this is crucial for a smooth experience but does not require it to actually be removed. be warned. the job will be insanely more difficult if you do not remove the steering wheel. remove your instrument cluster. remove the top 5 screws (1 behind the left speaker, 1 behind the right speaker - 3 above/in the window defroster vent) / remove the two bolts under the dash located at each corner of the cab. one on the driver side and one of the passenger side. these are somewhat hidden but are right on the edge of the dash. remove your hood latch release and any other accessories located next to it. remove the single screw holding the bracket down that is housing/holding the radio thing. this is located next to the floor vent on the left side. i don't know what its called. all i know is the radio connects to it. you will also need to remove this radio junction box thing. now, push the tabs on the fuse box and push it back. do the same for the instrument cluster connector. dont forget to pop the parking brake lever cable off. the dash should now slide/TILT forward. don't let it tilt all the way. let it tilt forward and now unbolt and release all the wires. your dash is now free. it's a lot easier than it seems and takes about an hour.

He leaves out one important part ! when you take out the dash cluster there is a plug behind it , getting that plug out is nearly impossible & getting it back in can be even harder , but If your just looking for the way to take out the heater A/C box to replace the cores & blower motor all you need to do is unbolt the side dash mount bolts and the top of dash bolts and unplug some of the wires by the glove box and pull the dash out and down then hang the right side of the dash up by the sun visor mount to get the dash out of the way then work on the box to remove the box , just watch the wires . take pictures as you go so u can back track if you need help to reassemble it , It's not that hard just remember to take your time and remember what you've done !

@ScottysDetailing....The dash and door panels was changed in 95, but yes most of the other trim was unchanged.

Where are you getting these bolts size. There are no bolts that are 18mm

Have to do this on my 94 sierra to replace the air distribution duct previous owner removed and didnt put back would love a pic of rear of the dash after removal if you have one.

Any tips on just repairing the top part of the dash where the defrost vents crack all to hell? I am half-prepared to take the dash out but concerned the thing will fall apart leaving me with a bunch of puzzle pieces... Light switch and instrument panel dash trim are one piece.

same thing happened to my 93 i just ran new speaker wires and it works fine now.

Wow! How do you get to the "wiring harness" bolts behind the dash, behind the instrument cluster 2x10mm? I have also found, that one has to remove the trim strips (R&L) where the bottom 15mm bolts hold the dash to the chassis. Looks like the gauge cluster wiring harness might be a bear to thread back into place. I appreciate the video. Thanks.

@ScottysDetailing This is a great video but the only thing is i got a 1999 gmc sonoma i redoing my whole interior from a beige colour to a jet black and im also smoothing it out but my problem is idk how hard it is to remove the airbag out on the passenger side in order to remove the dash if you could help me out id greatly appreciate it

Hey how did you take out th (P)brake plastic and cable off the dashboard? we took out a dash but we cut the cable for the realese of the break to be able to take the dashboar but now we are going to put it on our 1992 chevy pickup 1500 but we don't want to cut it since this is our truck...the other truck was parting out so it wasn't a problem to cut that cable.

I wanted to see exactly how you took the glove box door off. I know this was not your point, but it would have been nice to see that part because i'm told you have to take a vent out to properly remove or install it without breaking the pins. You called a vent a switch and never made any comments on the removal process

Old post I know, but, can anyone tell me where the Tan with White Stripe wire connects to the box at the driver's side firewall (inside cabin). I accidentally disconnected it (long story) and can't find where to connect it. It is a VERY important wire. I have already tried searching for hours online. 93 1500 forgot to remove neg battery before removeing a lot of the dash .I got to the instrument cluster an pulled it out a little an at the bottom it has like a little slinky type cord thatgot pulled on.im wondering if i set off a kill switch or something an the truck wont start when im thru.as well im wondering in my truck the factory radio thats over the cooling controls seems like its soldered in once you remove the cover icant get the dash hood off. i dont want to cut the wires an resolder

Hey i installed a new battery and now my radio/deck now longer has power!?! Its set up in the space in the middle below the vents like yours. I checked for blown fuses but found none. Any ideas? thank you.

This video didn't address alot of things. What do you do about the big harness that goes to the cluster, how do you get the bracket off from under the deck with the main harness runs through, all the little plugs and connecters under the driver's side, how the hell do you get the glove box light socket out

I want to add to my previous comments about this video. At the 9:10 mark when he miraculously just lifts the dash out. That's bs. He hadn't disconnected the dome light wires on the sides of the dash, and the the speedo cluster plug that was sticking through just disappears. It is connected to the wiring harness that has two bolts holding them to the dash, and then the harness is up inbetween the blower vents. You almost have to at the least get behind the vent and take out the screws from behind to be able to pull that wiring harness out of there. He already had that dash out before he took it out again for the video. They put the wiring harness on the dash at the factory before they put the dash in and then connected all of the wires. All of these videos and comments are bs.

Great video but for anyone about to attempt this just know that he doesn't show how to disconnect any wiring and behind the cluster is a big pain but very doable goodluck 👍

I have a 94 and a 95. Can these dashes be interchanged? I want to put the 95 into the 94. No air bags involved in either truck.

Does anyone know if all the dashes from different years of these trucks are compadible and fit each other ven tho they could be a year older or younger will they fit?

Will the wiring harness from a 91 hook up to a 97 dash.

I have an issue of cold air coming into the cab from the right side. The truck was in a front end collision before I bought it and I found gaps in the heater box, which I bonded closed. However, cold air seems to come in at highway speed above the heater box in the right side. Is there a seal in the cold air inlet that may have been displaced? Is the cold air inlet beneath the cowl on the right side? This is a real problem in northern minnesota when it gets below zero. The heater can't keep up. Thanks for the help.

I have too much slack on shifter wire Indicator after connecting it back to the instrument cluster to the steering column and I know it wraps around the side of it so that when you shift down it pulls it over but I have an inch or 2 when everything is in correct possition

What they didnt show is that you have to unbolt the heater it runs through the firewall and connects to the dash otherwise its not coming out. Also their are two bolts behind gauge panel the are actually behind thr dash itself they must be removed as well
