3 up and coming Directors cemented the names into the bigtime - Quentin Tarantino ( Pulp Fiction) , Frank Darabont ( The Shawshank Redemption) and Luc Besson ( Leon : The Professional). James Cameron was back with his favourite Arnold ( True Lies) , Keanu Reeves was proving to be an action Star ( Speed) and sadly the movie that was suppose to bring Brandon Lee into the bigtime ( The Crow) ended in tragedy with his untimely death on set.
Danny Boyle made his big screen Directorial debut with Shallow Grave and Kevin Smith also debuted his indie hit Clerks. Steven Seagal also tried his hand at directing also with ( On Deadly Ground). Oliver Stone brought out the controversial Natural Born Killers while Tom Hanks gave us a brief history of 1960s America in Forrest Gump.
Eddie Murphy returned as Axel Foley ( Beverly Hills Cop 3) and Harrison Ford returned as Jack Ryan in Clear and Present Danger.
Paul Newman was in The Hudsucker Proxy and Nobody's Fool, while his pal Robert Redford directed Quiz Show. England had a new pretty boy in the face of Hugh Grant ( Four Weddings & a funeral).
