As the AC compressor (naturally) leaks over time, the oils that leak out get blown into that front lower area of the engine and accumulate dirt and crud.
I had recharged the refrigerant, but also cleaning off the compressor and condenser should bring back some AC performance.
Cleaning the engine block and radiator might have some cooling benefit; it feels good to do anyway.
