I've had this car back on the road for just under a year. It was in a sorry state when I brought it home but I was lured in by the fact that the paint was in better than average shape and reasonable klms and service history. Brakes, suspension, plenty of oil leaks, drive shafts, tyres and windshield all needed attention to make the car roadworthy again. I have lowered the suspension and fitted an almost impossible to find European spec genuine front lip and deleted the rear spoiler. Other than a sports muffler and removal of part of the original intake, the car is mostly original and is a blast to drive, helped along by it being a manual transmission. The little 2.0 v6 engine is smooth, sounds beautiful and is almost rotary like in the way the power is delivered.

Unbelievable condition! Beautiful car. Cost nearly 40 K when new. Replaced the BG which was a good thing, particularly in 1.8i sedan spec.

Thanks for sharing, this was such a nice trip down memory lane. I was obsessed with the BA Astina and as soon as I could, I bought my first one in 2001 (red, 1996 1.8 4cyl) and then bought the V6 model, exactly the same as the one in your video. I still think they look amazing to this day. Do you still have this one? Watching your video I can remember mine like it was yesterday, and that unique sound of the frameless doors opening!

Thanks for your interest in it. It definitely was a lovely car to own. I sold It not long after the video was made around 2020. A couple from regional Victoria brought it that had wanted one when they were new. My goal is to find a bg astina! The previous model with pop up headlights. I'd like one in turquoise and preferably an sp model. They exist but not easy to find.

My mechanic at the time replaced it during the roadworthy inspection. The original muffler was worn out. I think he used someone on the Mornington peninsula.

Thanks, I enjoyed bringing this one back from almost being a total loss. I originally paid 400 Australian dollars for it and spent just under 2000 dollars on mechanical and cosmetic work to bring it back to the condition you see it in. I recently sold it on to a very appreciative new owner. I shal take a look at your channel.

Very well done :) We tried to save a V6 MX-3 with a friend as well. We bought it for cheap as it couldn't start due to a faulty ignition and very bad repair attempts by the previous owner (wrong distributor model, messed up fuse box that disconnected the fuel pump and headlights lol). We brought it home on a truck and it was a nightmare to find out what was actually wrong with it since we didn't have any history of it. After hours of datasheets reading and various tests and electronic measurements, we finally got it running. It still looks like shit compared to your 323, but at least it's back on the road!

@@RevoCHX I love that model, I still see plenty on the road here. Their called a Eunos 30x.
