1997 Discovery 1 SD - Why Does Everyone Want This Land Rover?? 

I have a 1999 discovery 1 with 26k miles . It’s my baby.

- that D1 is my twin (minus the safari rack). Power steering lines stopped leaking due to the hot weather- already ordered power steering lines from Atlantic British to replace them before winter returns. 🙌

Before you upgrade brakes check the o ring on the booster, D1 brakes are really good, my 98 tdi with abs stops really well. 👍🏻

Believe we discovered that stereo is the one from my long gone white '97 SD--wish I could remember the code for him!

Discos and Range Rovers have THE BEST driving position of any vehicle! I’ve had an 87 RR and 04 D2 and miss them! I’m looking at a 95 with 212k . I’m a little wary of that mileage but by now the trans or the head gaskets would of already have been fixed/ replaced. Fingers crossed!

Mine was made in June of 98 and titled as a 99, but its a Disco 1. I've never had any issues with it, but its only got 160,000 miles on it, so its got a ways to go. It has the 4.0 V8i. I get a lot of comments on it for sure. If you do the work yourself on the rig, the repairs aren't bad, and the parts are easy to find. I had a hard time finding a winch bumper for it, but finally got one. Thanks for the vid

Just got my 2nd D1, a '96 White D1 w/170k in great condition. Just an hour south of you in VA. Paid a whopping $500!

If you call a LR dealership w the VIN, they will give you the code for the factory radio.

What year make and model defender caliper was put on there the D1 ? I have a 98 D1 Thanks

I never heard of running Defender calipers. I wonder if they would make a difference on my D2?
