I love seeing this, I just picked a 97 prelude with 97k on it without a single spec of rust and I love it. Finding certain parts have been difficult but this thing is beautiful and this definitely makes me want to put the money into mine!

These year honda prelude are amazing sports cars. The SH models are amazingly fun and the technology is ahead of times even still.

Back in 2000, I purchased a 97 Prelude, automatic. Did a few minor upgrades, exhaust and AEM, 18’ wheels. After realizing the potential of this car, I changed the transmission to 5 speed stick, added headers and ACT clutch. Unfortunately I threw a rod about two weeks later, shit happens right? lol. After this, I put my Prelude in Frankenstein mode... went all out. Turbonetics t3/t4 hybrid, eagle pistons and rods... , did a swap to a Jspec h22, best decision I ever made for my Prelude. At 8lbs boost, it was hitting 300+ to the wheels. Lots of other cosmetic upgrades as well, the car ended up being more for show than the track, but I took it all up and down the east coast, with my trailer and on the highway... definitely had my fun with her

The Hood is Heavy 🤨😂?! I also have a Modified BB6 Prelude Type SH. The hood is as Normally Heavy as Any other cars Hood. It's the Oil leaking, Ide bog, Vtec solenoid issues, And Lack of Torque That I don't like lol

Clean homie, keep it up! I have a BB1 (4th gen 94 h22a1 Vtec), been sending it too and agree that’s it a total package and the lines are sweet. Honda didn’t do it much better IMO. Civics and integras are a dime a dozen, part of the sheep heard, quite boring now and days actually. But, Preludes... well, they are there own breed and unique. Were hot way before Acura even existed. Yeah, I said it. Rock on ninja! 😎🤙🏻

Definitely the black sheep, the Integra type R was the same price, the S2000 was only a little bit more for a pure sports car, and the Civic Si/SiR was a heck of a lot cheaper but still had VTEC

I still look back on this video perfect example what a Prelude should be. A lot of those parts are really expensive.

That lude is nice bruh, cleanest lude I've seen so far , aside from the bay which still didnt look dirty in the least , a shaved and tucked bay will compliment the exterior immensely, clean ass build bro very nice oh and go supercharged .

Save the ludes!!! Dope black lude. Wish mine was! I daily my white 99 base with a bluetop H23A, all exterior restored to stock- dericed it from previous owner.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the poor turning radius on these Prelude. My only gripe about it, so hard to do U turns in my BB6 lol.

The design of these cars is totally overlooked. The low hood line is to improve handling and dates back to the 1st gen. This also has double wishbone independent suspension and a better power to weight when stock to the Civics and even GSR’s. Handling is amazing and although heavier than the Civics of the time the H22 makes up for it and by todays standards it is not a heavy car at all. I have a VW GLi and it’s slower than my Prelude was stock. Also, the aftermarket support is pretty great. Not as good as Civics but still good

I like the Prelude, they're rare in America but I see them all over Spain still for sale. The only thing that I personnaly don't like are the Prelude's headlights, I'd prefer flipups.

I think "the blacksheep" of the Honda family is the ep3. People tend to hate the ep3's but I love mine.

Having owned a prelude for 10 years. The car was not setup for track use from the factory. The suspension has a ton of body roll but it's controllable. You can even snap over steer with it. The car is heavy for the motor but the motors are strong. Coilovers dramatically change the character of the car and handles very good with good coils and decent tires. The rest seats are basically useless so just gut them out along with the trunk. I got my prelude to 2640lbs which is roughly the same weight to a dc2. It still has the stock steering wheel,PS and AC. Add a 230 wheel hp cam'd F20b swap in my 4th gen and it's beating a lot of cars I probably shouldn't even be beating. Easily a 13 sec NA prelude on street tires. I beat a low 13 sec h22a4 bolt on civic coupe on slicks. I have the videos.

I've always loved preludes. I owned a 90 si 4ws at one time and it was a fun car Those decals on the windshield would really bother me while driving but besides that man,very nice car

Preludes really aren't even that heavy a car. They are a whole 350 lbs more than an integra. If anyone is really worried about the weight, there are always things you can do to make the car significantly lighter. They handle really well too, especially if they have the right mods done to the suspension/tire combination.

That is a super clean example of a 5thgen Honda Prelude, I wouldn't change a thing aesthetically speaking. I own a '99 Base model in Nordic Mist that came from the factory with a 5speed manual shift transmission and the original owner opted for the factory wing, black leather interior, carbon fiber accents and it actually has the tether strap anchors on the rear deck for baby seats. This is my second 5thgen, the first '99 I owned had the sport shift A/T. My first 5thgen was a fun ride but sprung a trans fluid leak, common issue with the Automatic Transmission. Anyway keep up the good work with your '97 5thgen!!

Why the hell do I like and want everything that you can’t find tons of goodies for. New to Honda but I have ALWAYS loved this generation of Prelude. I was wondering why you can’t find shit for it like all the other Honda’s. Sad as fuck cause these are beautiful cars. Same for the 1st gen CR-V’s.

Still have my 98 sh, h22a euro r engine, skunk2 manifold, throttle body and full catback exhaust, megan headers running p28 chipped and tuned. It's a great little car. My only complaint is storage. Is why I still have my v6 6sp altima as well lol

Its a great car but the 5th gen cost more than an integra or civic and weighed 300lbs more. Civic hatches had more of a smaller go kart feeling to them do to their smaller footprint. The Teg and Civic ended up being more popular for tuners, but the prelude was just as fun stock vs sttock for those who just dailied them. The H22 had weak ringlands on the pistons which easily broke the pistons under boosted applications. The Cylinders had FRM coating on them which meant you had to use special piston coatings or sleeve it. The coatings back in the day though didn't work reliably so pistons would melt to the cylinder walls
