Consistent! 10 mpg loaded or unloaded. So true. Same here. 1998 c3500 454 4:10 gear single rear wheel with 32 inch tall tires. Gibson exhaust and k&n drop in filter.

I have the same truck 2 years now. No plans on every selling it. Mint 2000 crew cab, 8 ft bed, 454(L29) fresh paint with ceramic coating. Been trying find 6inch lift no luck. 18 on 35's or 37's. Chuck Norris it out ! 💪🏽

Just picked up a 99 K3500 dually crew cab a couple weeks ago. I love it so far. Well almost everything. The 454 sure does like gas

Haven’t driven it enuff to tell yet. Maybe put 75 miles on it in a couple weeks. Still has a few bugs that need worked out yet. The oil pan has a pin hole in it somewhere. New pan will be here today

Thanks! yeah having no payment is huge, and what's really crazy is in this market I could sell the truck for more than I paid for it despite putting the 35k miles on it since owning it!

@@DaysofPainandVictory man I got a 08 2500hd with the 6.0 for 3500.00 I rebuild the rear end myself and put a 2015 bed on it the bed that was on it was damaged and like you said it's paid for truck prices are crazy

I absolutely LOVE my ‘98 GMC K3500 454 manual 1 ton long bed dually (4x4 obviously, hence the K in K3500 not the C3500) Mines black with the maroon interior, looks like yours except mine is an extended cab..but she’s only a 2 door though. The ext cab doesn’t open up. F**king work horse! She has 107,000 original miles and I am the second owner. My g-dad bought it brand new in 1998.

So I managed to change the oil pan without pulling the motor. I pulled the mount bolt holding the engine one the mounts, lifted the engine as much as I could without crushing anything. I had to remove the y- pipe because the oil pan wouldn’t come down out with it in place. It took me a lot longer than I wanted to because my gasket alignment skills (without the Fel-Pro snap ups) isn’t all that great. It would’ve been a lot easier with the snap ups. It’s definitely doable tho. Hope this helps! Edit: my fat thumbs misspell words

Love the truck! I'm looking at one at the moment, it's a 97 single cab dually with the 454. I'm trying to figure out the tow capacity for a fifth wheel. Can you help me out?? Thank you! Great job on the video!

I can do some digging on some real numbers next week, but with this truck I’ve pulled a 3000lb fifth wheel flatbed trailer with my 5000lb jeep on it. Comparable material loads. Also pulled a dump trailer bumper tow that weighed 16,000 loaded for multiple trips. No issues. Thanks for watching!

What RPM are you spinning at freeway speeds? I have your truck's Chevy twin, and I'm not convinced my transmission is actually hitting overdrive, or maybe the lockup converter isn't doing it's job. Also haven't crunched the numbers to see what I should be spinning, maybe that'd be a good first step for me lol.

I plan on getting a 1999 k3500 454 cclb srw, going to have my lance camper about 3k lbs and on occasion tow my 1985 4runner with 37s roll cage , some wood, gear, gas in the trailer you know camping offroading stuff, but im thinking with the rear air bags , rear sway bar , front disc brakes conversion im wondering how it would hold up , safety being most important im in the so cal area so mountains and hills are a thing , what would be you input i would appreciate it , not trying to go "fast" but safe and under control.

I think with bags and good brake controller/trailer brakes should be good to go. I live in the PNW, lots of winding mountain roads. I’ve pulled my full size jeep Cherokee on 3/4 ton axles/37s with camper all over no problem. Some grades I’ve had to pull at 35-40mph but that’s ok with me

Awsome thanks man , its clean not to pass up .. and i know before diesels blew up these 454s and fords 460s ruled the world and reliable, mpgs wont matter being a strict tow rig but what would you be getting when towing your jeep/camper

Is a 98 gmc 3500 454 worth getting for 3500 with 143k miles?

I think so, probably gonna have some leaks to take care of but if it was well maintained the motor should still be strong. Mine is gonna need a gasket set here before too long

The 454 vortec should be about 300hp with about 350ish ft lbs of torque.

I'm shocked that this only has a tow rating of 10,000 pounds, my Chevy avalanche will tow 8,000 pounds and it's not a heavy duty. What's going on here, did the towing capacity just significantly increase after the 2000s?

yeah is probably conservative, I've had 15000 behind it bumper tow with a dump trailer no problem.

My 98 k35 7.4 crew 1ton dully is running rich miss firing and sputters bad when I fill it up and when it’s cold then it will stop and run perfect then it will start running like dog shit.... I’m not that educated with vehicles I just know how to change parts.. if anyone can help that’ll be amazing!!

I feel the same as front tires, I own the 3500 99 half of the 99 was square body for 99 what I love but they do guzzle gas and I call mine cum guzzler or baby love this truck I have a 1 ton and I love it
