1999-2013 Chevy or GMC tail light issues 

Were the tail lights not working, but the reverse lights, brake lights, turn signals, and license plate lights all fine? Because that's what happened to me.

I need to know what color of the wiring harness goes to what color on my taillights I cut the connector off my harness and the one that goes to my taillights

On my 2016 chevy Colorado

I have a orange wire a yellow wire black wire and a Grey wire those are the wiring for my taillights the colors from my wiring harness are black,darkgreen,lightgreenangrey and purple together I need to know what colors from the harness goes to what colors on my taillight wiring I cut the connectors off

Live in the south u will need new bolts and a cutting touch tried it

FYI the tabs was rusted that is why it had to be pried off the screw was broken that it lifts up off of.

Just bought 11 avalanche rear taillights won’t come on. Brake light turn signal functional. No lights I hope you fixed your issue by now help me….

What ended up being the problem with the tail light? Currently having the same issue

Yes, it can be done that way. It also depends on the model it the same plate, similar location on GM products

Check the y-harness that goes to license plate items common for getting corroded and going bad

Under the hood there’s a fuse for your running lights. There is 2 of them. One for the left and another for the right.

I dont think so. My 3rd light is the only one working correct still. I think it's on a separate harness.

Check you wiring at the taillights and ground those are also very common problems with gmc chevy trucks

Check your ground for that side each side has its own ground

@@Precision.automotive tried a brand new doorman switch and a genuine GM and redone all my grounds. All 10 of them

Tail light Junction Block

For my wife's 2006 GMC Yukon Denali I replaced the old board with a new Dorman 923-012 Tail Light Circuit Board from Amazon and things worked for several months. There was some green corrossion on the connections of the old board and plugs. I cleaned up the plugs and replaced the board. When she bought it the previous owner had installed some LEDs which I think might be part of the problems we have at night.

10mm sockets are a figment of your imagination. Every time I look for mine it's not there.

Does your running lights stay on ? Having the same issue. My running tailight stays on but when I press the brake my left tailight won’t work

My problem is that my left tailight and license plate light don't turn on. My right side works. I've changed the circuit board, lights, and left/right harness. Checked fuses and nothing. Wondering if it's the harness that come from the front to the back that gives it power.

where is the fuse for the plate lights ? I’m having the same issue. I have a brand new harness, thinking it’s a fuse if not then it might be the circuit board

@@BernieM2819 i checked all fuse locations under the dash/hood and on either side of the doors (dash). Im thinking too it could be the circuit board.

@@arvinjessee-zx4mc I took it all apart, put it back together and now it’s working. Guess I just didn’t have it connected properly

Well, I found my junction block in good shape, just full of dirt... Brushed it out, but still had trouble. Went back to the brake switch, because I realized when I took it off, it was positioned a particular way. So I adjusted it, and the brake lights worked, but wouldn't shut off. After watching another video, (sorry, but I wanted to cover all the bases), I took apart both new and old switch and found the new switch pins in the wrong order. So after an hour or so of tryin to get them set right, I finally got the switch back in and the brake lights, as well as all other lights, working properly again. Thanks for your video, fixing cars yourself is always a process, just takes patience.

Nope, have the same problem. I already changed the circuit board, the bulb, even the whole wiring harness. I honesty have no idea what it can be at this point. Ima keep investigating tho

@@jltaco85 yup a stupid fuse. I had checked them before but I guess I didn’t check the right one cause I went back and checked them all with a test light and sure enough a fuse was broken. Replaced it and my taillights have been working great ever since
