great vid, by blocking the hose you stop the exaust gasses coming in, you gain better mileage, cleaner engine, and sometimes a warning light, but who cares it produces no side effect to the engine, on the contrary, it will last longer adding plates and other mods is not needed as the valve is already closed the green idea was to feed exhaust gasses back to the engine to reduce pollution, but it does not work well in practice, it chokes the engine, makes it run rough and dirty, uses more fuel and defeats the purpose it is like running a marathon and inhaling your farts to make your lungs more efficient :)))) lots of people in europe are disabling the valve and running the diesel engines cleaner and cheaper
I'm re-assembling a 1KZ-TE after putting a replacement head on it, because this same EGR delete was put on it and caused the cylinders to operate with higher exhaust gas temperatures while not having a better cooling system put in. Whoever the idiot was must have thought the same and just slapped in a stupid little piece of aluminum thinking it would be just fine then flicked it off to someone else. All the steel combustion chamber inserts are badly cracked and are blistering, and the third cylinder has a crack coming from the combustion chamber and another one across the water gallery between the inlet and exhaust valve which caused the coolant system to pressurize and eventually rupture one of the hoses. Part of the purpose of that EGR is to lower the combustion temperature to prevent the production of NOx and has the added effect of preventing the engine from being over stressed. Sure the EGR delete on it's own might give a little more power and mileage, but you'll be paying thousands of dollars for a new head and hundreds more in labor costs to get it replaced.
@@skala-c4r so if you run better cooling to keep egt’s low, you could still have the advantages of the block? Currently weighing up with a 120 otw this week
I have a Prado 120 2009 turbo diesel 1kz. I did the maintanance for the turbo, but it still continues liquefying oil in the intake pipe. So I would like to know if this kind of motor problem is related to de egr and what is shown on your video. There is not any kind of smoke at all, it is clear as air, the motor has good power, but diesel consumption is terrible. Any advice or recomendation is welcome.
Hey Steve, great vids keep up the good work. I have a 2005 Prado 120 1KZ-TE KZJ120R and was wondering if an EGR blanking plate could be used on it? Do I need one with a 7mm hole in it to avoid getting an ECU code? I can only find info for EGR plates on Prado's 2004 and earlier (like yours) or the later D4D but mine is in the middle! Do you know what options do I have to bypass the EGR? Cheers
@@chaggolies Thanks for the feedback Steve. The website www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au/010-egr-blanking-plate-toyota-landcruiser-hdj-4.2t threw me off as it implied the plate was not for my 2005 1KZ-TE but I think the date was referring to the D4D version of the 120 not ours. Anyway sounds like i'm good to go with a full plate! :) I'll be doing a full intake clean while I'm at it. Wish me luck! Do you recommend the catch can (for oil) as well as the blanking plate?
Brother need some information i have closed EGR valve in I kz diesel turbo engine and Black smoke from exhaust mufler has gone 80% and Diesel average has improved a lot ,pls guide me Closing the EGR valve will Harm any other Parts like Turbo or any Oil Seals leakege ETC pls Reply
Blocking the vaccum line doesn't work it caused my hilux to get to much negative pressure in the intake and would trip a bad reading on the map sensor and throw it into limp mode
Ahhh. Thought that might of been the case. Wasn't quite sure how long ago that had happened. I have same engine, 15 years old. Finally took the intercooler off last Sunday. Never been off, ever. Had gunk in & around the valve body, not as much as I thought I would. Next job is the EGR. Ran out of time. Still running original injectors & glow plugs. 2004 model, 233,000kms.
@@Napoleon_Blownapart Yes mate, I did & the injectors as well. The tips of the plugs were still in great shape. I was very careful in removing them, but yep, all good. Just ticked over 261,000 kms today. Car is running like a dream, 18th birthday coming up soon, April, 2004 model.
@@Napoleon_Blownapart Can confirm. I have one that has done 360,000 KMs and when the glow plugs were removed, one of them was cracked ready to break and one of them broke off and fell in as it was taken out! Currently planning on removing the head to get to it, we've tried everything else. For the want of $120 you're much better off just replacing the damn things earlier.
Hi There, Blocking the EGR stops the Soot build up in the throttle body and inlet manifold, i have noticed a huge difference in by economy, idling, and the car is more responsive and faster off the blocks.
