Regarding Scandinavia just back from Sweden. They are struggling with fire this summer. Saw many fire teams from different countries. Just be up to date with the fire zones. It's hot and dry - traveling or camping in heavy smoke is not so save.

William,great stuff. Are you riding again in Portugal.? You should try the Alentejo inland and Coastal and northern Portugal you would be surprised with the contrast in scenery, but better seasons would be spring or autumn, summer you will fry on the bike with the extreme heat. Can you share some info regarding the bike insurance when you do,these trips abroad. Keep up the great videos and enjoy the rides.

You should let people know your future itinerary. If I'd have known you were coming I wouldn't have baked a cake, but I could have met you at Heathrow and been company up to Scotland. As for Scotland, try and get the West side of the NC500 under your belt (Applecross side) up to JohnO, the East side route sux.

I assume your limited on time.. So thats why you fly the bike instead of shipping on boat.

About shipping... i d suggest to use a freight forwarder, they buy freight on planes at a way cheaper price than the average joe does (think less than half) they can assist with customs and the dangerous good process, you have a single entry point and in the end the price difference is likely not that big to justify the hassle of diy (even on canada-europe that is an easy transfer in terms of paperwork). There are some that are specialized in these kind of shipments (they are a bit more expensive working on business to consumer) but any decent freight forwarder is able to assist. I'd stay clear of the very big global ones though, in general they have strict SOPs and the last thing you want is their ops guy being anal about whatever piece if paper is required by his SOP. Get a middle sized company with a decent network and representative at destination you tell them what you want to do and they take care of the rest.

I lost 10 pounds in 7 days on a ride, never went hungry. I stopped at a grocery store and bought my favorite veggies . I ate them raw. When i got hungry i would stop at a scenic overview and eat. Easiest weight i ever lost.

Just curious why you got a mid-size 'adventure bike'/Af twin, instead of the 2018 Gold Wing bagger, considering you're doing lots of long-distance riding on highways and good pavement? Back in The Day, I rode from Fort McMurray to somewhere south of San Diego via Vancouver & PCH, and then back with a decent air-cooled 1100. But I would have been ecstatic with today's GW (one-up) if it had existed. Also lived in Europe for 10 years afterwards and owned a couple of cars there, but rarely ever even saw an unpaved public road. More recently I owned a 650 Thumper for kicking around mountain trails on, but that was squirrelly, underpowered and exhausting on the highway. And it nearly shook my fillings loose. So, why the Af Twin instead of new GW?
