It still blows me away that Jimmy Barnes / Cold Chisel are practically unknown outside of Australia and NZ! Cold Chisel is one of the greatest bands of all time and Jimmy is an icon!

@@playitagainsue Cold Chisel - When the War is Over (live 2003) is a great one to whet your appetite. They’re a diverse band, loosely branded “pub rock”. Plenty of classics.

Wild thing with cold chisel last stand version When in band early years In his 50s look these up Jimmy barnes and Joe bonamassa Stone cold amazing vocals and two amazing guitar solo's Jimmy barnes Joe bonamassa lazy amazing band music and Jimmy cherry on top it like their jamming Aussie rock ledgen and so is John Farnham these 2 owned the charts here for decades they do each other's songs and sing some together enjoy learning many other talented Aussie sings and bands Cheers 🦘🇦🇺👍

Jimmy has one of greatest rock voices of All time, I would go down rabbit 🐇 hole of Cold Chisel - when the war is over and bow river live 03. Ian moss is the other lead singer of cold chisel one of rare bands with 2 front men

Another fun fact - one of John Farnham's backing singers - Vanetta Fields was an Ikette for Ike and Tina. She moved to Australia in the 80's and has lived here ever since. She is currently retired but gives singing lessons and lives in Queensland. Jimmy released an album in 2014 called 30:30 Hindsight where he rerecorded many of his hit song from his 30 year career as a solo artist after leaving Cold Chisel in the 80's. The track that most people watch from this album is "Stone Cold" with Joe Bonamassa - well worth checking out to see an older Jimmy still able to hit those emotional high screams.

This collaboration came about for a promotion for the NRL (National Rugby League) Australia in the 90`s.They performed this song live at the 93 Grand Final. And fittingly it has been announced that after 30 years the Australian production of Tina: The Musical are going to perform at this years NRL Grand Final on October 1 as a tribute to Tina Turner. Jimmy was also recently quoted as saying that he grew up idolizing Tina & was nervous going into the recording of this song because he said he couldn`t dance. Tina joking said to him "Don`t worry honey I`ll make you look good". I think the video says it all. You can see they both had a lot of fun making it & yes they sound amazing together. Sue I know you wanted suggestions for Jimmy singing on his own. But another duet you should check out is Jimmy Barnes & Sam Moore singing "Soothe Me" The song was recorded last year when Sam was 86 years old. And yes I`m still here enjoying your videos Sue, especially the 80`s ones.👍😊

Jimmy does rock, blues, and a bit of soul mainly. As others have suggested “When Something is Wrong With My Baby” duo with John Farnham is a good starting point. Others worth mentioning imo include Wild Thing by Cold Chisel live at the last stand(Jimmy was lead singer), a recent version of an older song of his “Lay Down Your Guns” and a recent redo of “Flame Trees”. And that’s just a start. Jimmy has had a long career now and he is a very interesting case study for how one’s voice changes over time and how you can adapt to keep delivering the goods.

I don't know why Tina's singing style reminds me of the late, great Janis Joplin. Something about their soul laced voices. This song always takes me back to a good time and place.

Jimmy Barnes is amazing. His most recent single was also a duet he did with Sam Moore - Soothe Me, the old hit from Sam and Dave, updated with Sam and Jimmy. It is also wonderful to see Barnes and Farnham duets, however if you want to see the Raw Jimmy Barnes roots, you gotta see him and Cold Chisel doing Wild Thing. He really can be a wild wild man.

@@playitagainsue That duet with Sam Moore has old clips of the early Jimmy in the background, blended with clips of the band playing Soothe Me, and aged to blend with the real old footage. Of course the legendary Sam Moore at 86 still has a voice made of velvet, and Jimmy sounds great with him.

Jimmy said in a recent interview after Tina’s death that NRL National Rugby League fully funded this recording to use as a promotional song . Jimmy said that he would’ve done it for free because it was Tina . Tina Turner’s manager was Australian so throughout the 80s and 90’s Australia was Tina’s second home . Firstly in after hearing John Farnham’s rearrangement of the Beatles classic hit Help , Tina covered John’s version for 1984 Private Dancer . Then in 1985 Tina landed her role in Australian post apocalyptic movie Mad Max Beyond ThunderDome that featured the hit song We Don’t Need Another Hero . The late 80’s Tina became the face of Ruby League football in Australia using some of her songs including The Best as promotional songs .

In the video clip the guitar soloist is Jimmy Barnes brother in law, Jonny Diesel. Diesel in his own right a very good solo performer.

I just discovered your channel two days ago (and subscribed) when you featured my favorite rock hero Steve Marriott. Now, here you go again !! Jimmy Barnes is another one of my favorite performers, and of course Tina is - well, TINA .One of my all time favorite female singers for decades. Together they are fire. I can tell you are going to become one of my favorite reation channels. I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE. When Tina passed, I sent a link to this video to my other favorite reactor. Jimmy has large catalog of music from his band Cold Chisel, solo work, and duets with other performers. He is a national hero in Australia. My favorite performance is "STONE COLD" featuring the wonderful blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. If you like to read rock biographies (as I do), I highly recommend the two part memoirs Jimmy wrote: "Working Class Boy" and Working Class Man", which document his amazing life story.His harsh/violent poverty stricken chilhood in Glascow Scotland, and his family's struggles to make a new life in Australia is very powerful and difficult for us, growing up in middle class America to even imagine. Yet he overcame it all and is a true inspiration. Another of my rock heroes.

Tina was the best female singer of all time. To me, Jimmy is the best male singer, and if you want to hear the best of Jimmy, check out his version of Wild Thing with his band Cold Chisel. You'll be glad you did.

If someone hasn’t mentioned it about Jimmy, he’s been singing here in Australia since about aged 16 - jimmy is now 67 and still belting them out - so there’s a few years of music to choose from lol. And singing with his children - and you can tell his grandchildren have music ability as well. And we can’t forget his beautiful wife Jane, they’ve been married over 40 years I think. I call them (jokingly) The Aussie Von Trapp family lol. The Barnes family is a beautiful close knit fun and loving family. Jimmy has a Facebook page, singing, gardening, cooking with his wife and family from their home. Not scripted at all, just as it comes and lots of fun.

One of my favs Jimmy songs is Stone Cold with brilliant American guitarist Joe Bonamassa and younger days when he was on drugs and drinking, how he lived to tell his story I’ll never know - is with band Cold Chisel, song ‘Bow River’. Jimmy’s written 3 books about his past, the drugs etc, it’s no secret.

And Johnny Diesel playing guitar is worth a mention as well! Another Aussie legend in his own right. Started with his own band, Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. He started playing quite a bit with Jimmy when Jimmy went solo and now the two of them are brothers in law - they married sisters. Definitely worth checking him out as well. You'll see Jimmy, John and Johnny in "When Something is Wrong With My Baby"
