I dive into another 1v1 match with the legend himself, Vulcan, in an exciting league style match on Haroshaje with the 78th Sturm and 3rd Mechanized! Music credit to bensound.com
I’ve not gotten my game skill to a point where I have the courage to play multi player. This video convinces me that is a good decision. I feel your pain ATKPwr. A post game analysis of how Vulcan supported his Sherman’s would be interesting. Thanks, fm
I actually disagree, I am the same but found that when playing multiplayer matches from SD discord tournaments actually improved my game. The AI acts predictably and doesn't reflect human players. Also, you get to practice with other divisions since the meta ones normally gets banned. The SD discord community is great if you want to find someone to play with. Look me up on discord if you fancy a game and just general chit chat during play.
Witch doctor has the right idea. While losing is frustrating, you will improve much more rapidly by playing multiplayer. The sd2 discord communities are very helpful
I think competitive games are good for everyone. If you want to push yourself 1v1 is the way imo. In team games or single player it tends to be more relaxes. It depends on why you wish to play the game in the first place really. Getting your first 1v1 win is a nice feeling though and even losing in a close match is really great fun where you and your opponent are on roughly the same level.
Same here. Talked my two brothers into the game with the recent huge sale and we play co-op on small maps on breakthrough until they're comfortable enough to do the bigger maps and other game modes. Tons of fun.
Enjoyed this- Vulcan seems very formidable, but I thought you had a good crack at it-maybe needed more AT when setting up, well done though - thanks, very entertaining - more of these please
The way he used Sherman's by forcing your Stugs up close really hurt you. This is one weakness of the Sturm. It'd be really nice if they had something like Panzer 4s.
Great game guys, was fun to see both sides. Vulcans micro in this game was some of the best I have seen from him. A lot of points have already been given but my main points are that the new season is 30min time limit so aggressive divisions in van and mav are the way to go. Most games are to be decided in first 10mins.
Shermans are just one of those tanks I never have any luck using. I see videos like this and it makes me want to use them but they never work out like that.
A friend got me into the game 2-3 years ago... We've played often, but I've only won a few times - like max twice a year... It's just such a steep learning curve...! But I still enjoy it, and try to get better at it! So keep your head up ^^
It is a game where if you don’t play for a week or two you get worse quickly - so it seems for me anyway. Sometimes a break can help too from time to time.
That is a bit my problem with the game (I still love it, but it is a tough love) - you have a huge area with 2-3 fronts (points where things are happening) and yet you need to micro heavly... I play quite frequently, but after 1-2 games I'm exhausted... SD44 was better in that way - the scale was much smaller and you could micro 2-3 units. You could control most of the battlefield from general screen and here you have 3 separate battlefields on one map.
Some leaders would have helped prevent surrenders. The surrenders were brutal! Vulcan rally took control and dictated where the fight was going to be. With hindsight a flank push (in the usual spot) by you could have distracted him … anyway, fun to watch from both perspectives. Stugs for me are better mediums but in cqc nothing really beats Shermans (well … except x2 Turans ;))
Gotta use mortar smoke in those city fights due to wonky LoS. It will also prevent his shermans from popping out and getting a shot with their superior aim speed.
Sturmschutzen always seem to underperform, especially if they have no veterancy. The Schutzen with no veterancy was being suppressed by Gvardia with veterancy. The lack of Panzershreks in the town early meant he knew he could play around with the Shermans. Could of had some Nashorns or Stugs further back or the flanks, rather than Paks, to provide oversight. If he tries to push a ATG forward the 2x MG42 Shutzen would make it suppressed quick.
Doubled vetted in A they do serious work … but sometimes it is hard to get them into then right positions with the right kind of support. Mortars are the enemy of all elite units in this game.
sorry one more question, I am new to the game and you are much better than me, so I am confused. Vulcan clearly had the town. Why did you send the majority of your forces to a town that was his strong point and send weaker forces to the forests in the flank that were weaker defended? From my point of view you were matching his strength (albeit in a weaker way) piece by piece and getting punished for it. Why didn't you give him the centre town and make a serious push on the sides?
Problem was if I didn’t get back into town I was definitely going to lose. From there he can attack any part of the map and I was never going to be able to cap enough flags to counter that loss
I think your key problem was that Shermans excel in towns and Stugs are weak in towns, and you had no panzershreks in A to level the playing field. After losing most of the town you were forced to attack constantly, which ground your forces down and prevented you from ever achieving enough mass at any point to get in a winning position. I'm fairly sure you traded positively after A phase, but just not enough to recover from the stomping the Shermans administered in A.
