Edit; at 3:42.....20 x 28.5 = 570 micrometers which is 0.57mm. This is not an actual width of a cell. The numbers used are to illustrate how to use a graticule. A plant cell is no bigger than 100micrometers. Thank you to @Taufiqul Huque for spotting this mistake.

Hi, will an exam question ever ask us for the method on how to calibrate an eyepiece? Or how to use the microscope? Not exactly sure what things they could ask us. Thanks
@clarebiology2858
@clarebiology2858 5 месяцев назад
no probably not the method but they might ask you to calibrate an eyepiece using a picture 👍

Hi, do you know exactly what organelles we may have to draw in the exam? And which one do you think may come up this year? Thanks
@clarebiology2858
@clarebiology2858 4 месяца назад
I think they are more likely to give u a microscope image of a tissue and ask u to draw that. they might ask you about the ultra structure of a cell and link it to an hepatocyte or something else 👍

I don't understand how you are finding the eyepiece values from the objective lens? At 3:50 you show 2-5 number distance which = 20 eyepieces but how did you get this number?

Will you always be told the of the stage micrometer - will it always be 1 mm?

in the 1st example where did you get 20 eye pieces if the unit given on the graticule is in 1s?

if you are using mm unit for stage micrometer then for eyepiece which unit is used?
@clarebiology2858
@clarebiology2858 4 месяца назад
mm too, but you can change it um. have a look at what unit they want from the Q

20 x 28.5 micrometers equals 570 micrometers, which is 0.570 MILLImeters.

@@clarebiology2858 Thank you. That's a huge width for a cell, and the length must be ten times that. It's a plant cell, right? Which one, may I ask?
@clarebiology2858
@clarebiology2858 2 года назад
I’ve just used the numbers to illustrate how to use a graticule. A plant cell isn’t normally bigger than 100 micrometers.
@jeaverma3255
@jeaverma3255 Год назад
for the 1st cell shouldn't it be 2 eye pieces because the scales is in 1s?
@clarebiology2858

2 big ones, 20 small. you need to work out what 1 small eye piece is 👍
