Using the 2019 Kawasaki ZX-6R as the example. Same motorcycle, same year, same stock suspension, but riders with a 100 pound (45 kg) weight difference. No motorcycle's suspension off the showroom floor is setup correctly for any rider much less every rider.

BUT they should put a few generic setups for the riders cause m 125 pound guy so most of the bikes have a lot of bounce for me and i have to use less pressure than most of the people otherwise, tires get too hard for me.

@corail53

@@corail53 Not much point in "tuning it for you" unless you run the same track all the time, techy stuff I'm 3 clicks out of 10 on comp, 4/7 on rebound, jump lines I'm 6/10 on comp, 2/7 on rebound on forks for example, also run higher pressures tyre and shock + fork if I'm gonna do a full day of jumps. Setup depends on way too many variables to get a "perfect answer" so just use guidelines like mine, OR if you don't know what you're doing, or you're out on a mixed day, then manufacturers recommended is usually bang on for versatility, maybe a click either way depending on personal preferences.

Before attending Dave's tuning session in Thousand Oaks last week I had given up on finding a good balanced setup and was ready to buy an aftermarket shock and springs. But a few minutes under the DMT tent answering his questions then making adjustments put this motorcycle RIGHT. The front - rear balance he obtained with stock suspension is remarkable. Controlled and still compliant. More confidence, more fun, more chores getting put off because I wanna go riding!

I have a fairly new KTM Duke 125, which I can barely ride and I was just wandering if I should touch the default preload setting on the shock (the only setting there is), because I'm lighter than average, I think. As always great info, thanks! I also ride Bridgestone S22 since a month now, but i noticed that the tire pressure at maximum load increased to 42psi for the front tire. All my previous front tires where rated at 36psi as a standard from the manufacture, but now it has gone up 6 psi. Is something changed in the Bridgestone front tire technology? Since the rear tire remains the same as always (42psi)
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 3 года назад
The change is in the design and build of the carcass. For example, the Pirelli GT II I use more pressure in the front than the rear as the carcass is softer.
@rcbimolegbo7593
@rcbimolegbo7593 3 года назад
@@catalystreactionsbw Yes i know, some brands are stiffer/softer from carcass and needs indeed other pressures. But i meant for the same sort of tire in it's class (hyper/ supersport, touring). I ride 12 years on Bridgestone with the same bike, and always used the super/hypersport tire that was available at that time. And always was the rating 42psi rear and 36psi front. But now the markings on the front 'say' 42psi. And that makes me wonder what changed, if the tire performs indeed the same at 42psi but with less wear. (For street use) Many people here drop there tire pressure way off for street riding, they say that you have more grip/contact patch and the rating on the tire is way to high I find that hard to believe why such a huge brand as Bridgestone would advise a tire pressure that's to high at the cost of grip, especially because there goal is to sell tires, so in fact the opposite should make more sense.
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 3 года назад
@@rcbimolegbo7593 If the manufacturer increases pressure it is due to design changes in construction and carcass. A softer carcass needs higher pressure. As they designed the tire and recommend the pressure, there is a good reason to believe that grip is not reduced by higher pressure as per my testing with the Pirelli Angel GTII.

The RS10 is a very hard tire and with your light weight, 32psi front and rear cold for the street. You can also test 30/30psi cold to see which pressure gives a smoother ride. If you are very aggressive, the minimum pressure would be 34psi cold front and rear
