Thanks for the tips dude . My XT1 is a few yrs old and i have taken very well care of it but the damn deck has been giving me a fit this season . I finally got it pretty close , i think my left side still needs to come up about 1/4 inch . Very frustrating , smh .
I have an xt1 Ann’s this a very good simple explanation. However, what I found is as you adjust one side to has the opposite effect on the other side by about 1/3 of the adjustment. Keeping this in mind will avoid chasing the adjustment from side to side
I just bought this mower and found this video while looking for something else, but this was helpful. While my yard looks fairly even/level to the eye, it is actually somewhat bumpy when mowing, so the fact that the level adjustment rods only have nuts on the top means that the deck bounces up and down constantly when I mow. I thought that couldn't be right as my last mower (Craftsman) didn't have this issue, but seeing how you lifted the deck to make adjusting the bolt easier, I see this is normal for these mowers. That is a bit of a relief knowing the mower is OK, but it means the deck is going to bounce up and down a lot b/c of the level rod freely moving up in it's tube/channel, because of how my yard is.
You still haven't addressed the two most important issues - 1* Spin the blades and remeasure in case you have a bent blade! Duh! 2* The lifting arms MUST be able to slide up and down through their clevis or they will hang up when the anti-scalp wheels raise the deck and cause the deck to be lop-sided. Use a light, general purpose oil. Lift the edge of the deck up on one side and apply the oil beneath the nuts so it slides down the rod. Jiggle the deck up and down a few times to make sure the oil is spread around the rod. Repeat on the other side.
But I never saw you check the level of the front-to-back deck pitch. How do you? I mean, do you use a level. or what? Also, in a two blade mower, isn't it possible for one blade to be at 3 1/2 inches, for example, and the other blade to be out of whack with that? Or if that's crazy (OK, then), also, if your measuring tool says 3" and your onboard cutting depth says 3 1/2", then where do you change that? Or fix that?
If you watch my full video on how to level your deck it will make a lot more sense. I go over all of those things: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KhQZRBT28Po.html
You should be able to adjust each side until you've raised the whole thing up. Then level it off. It should get higher than that. Also double check the air in your tires.
There is just a lock nut that holds it in place. It should be able to be moved upwards unless it is cross threaded or something like that. @@mikeharris2985
