We took our 22 year old bay boat (with a new suzuki motor) 330 miles to Islamorada in the Florida Keys. We navigated the West coast of Florida from our home in Hernando Beach to our houseboat in the Florida Keys. Leslie and I stayed the night at Naples Bay Resort & Marina and we were very impressed with the facilities. Special Thank you to Waves Marina store for your help and guidance.

Man, those Florida skies! When I was home this past weekend, I was out at Salt Springs resort area, just floating around looking at the skies. In South Carolina and Georgia. The skies look nothing like that anymore. They are all covered with a layer of cover cloud really high up. And then some other clouds in it just does not even look normal.

Wow this is hilarious that they couldn’t believe you drove your 22 foot boat all the way down there! Now coming from Salt Springs, this wouldn’t be a possibility for us. but you do have my wheels turning. We could probably drive the boat down from Salt Springs To someplace above Key West. Then go ahead and head down and stay in a marina hotel down there. Or maybe we could even do it from our side as well? Using the same concept!

Doing some research on 20-22ft center consoles and ran across your repower vid, which was extremely insightful (thank you). Came over to this vid from your mention of the trip and loved the short chronology of your and Leslie's journey. So inspiring for YOLO! Peace and love.

What did that cost's in fuel? I'm looking to repower my Sea Pro with a suzuki and take it from Crystal River, Fl to the keys. Thanks

I'm just south of you in Hernando Beach! REC 90 was about $5 a gallon on average. I was getting 3.2 miles per gallon. I used 105 gallons total in the trip to Islamorada. If you want any info from my trip, feel free to contact me through Facebook or my website....I'll be happy to pass on what we did and experienced if it will help you plan your trip.

Would you trust that boat in moderately rough waters ? I mean you never know what your going to run into out there so if conditions got bad do you trust a 20 ft boat to handle it ?
@saltybushwacker2023
@saltybushwacker2023 Год назад
absolutely....In our 330 mike run we hit rough seas about 3 times. The worst was in Tampa Bay, and we encountered 3 - 4 ft seas for about 6 miles until we reached the ICW in Bradenton. The boat did fine. I had no worries. We had to go slow obviously, but there was no worries.

@@saltybushwacker2023good to hear, I’m on the market for a bay boat that can go out to the oil rigs from the orange beach area without being dangerous. Can’t seem to find a good used boat like you did tho.
@saltybushwacker2023
@saltybushwacker2023 Год назад
they can be hard to find, but if your ready with cash and search sites like craigslist and market place, one will pop up. I even drive my area all the time while I have my morning coffee before work looking for a hidden gem.....lol
@jesseo355

@@saltybushwacker2023 I’ve considered looking at aluminum bay boats. Some have 28in side depth which ought to keep water out on decent days. I’ll be more likely to go over waves instead of cutting through them like a glass rig but if the price is right I’ll take it.
@saltybushwacker2023
@saltybushwacker2023 Год назад
@Jesse O I prefer glass boats. Be patient and don't settle for something you will want to replace 2 years later. Even if you spend a bit more $$$$ than you want to now. Take you time....do your research...even rent or go with friends or guides with boats similar to what you think you want....
