@@VicTheFigGuy your welcome. thank you for sharing! wow from cutting... how old is it? my oldest tree is a ficus was my first bonsai 8 or so years ago. it was a ginseng. i wanted just a normal ficus tho. hard to find here in NY even still. i took the top off and planted as a thumb thick cutting. it got a few big trunk chops since. really progressed with me and my skill level over the years.. portulacaria afra and ficus 2 of my favs
@@mikec3820This tree is not that old at all. Rooted cutting started in 2019. It was grown out in a large pot. Then an ice storm damaged it. Only about 6" above the ground was alive. But all of the back budding helped swell up the trunk. I gradually up-pot it until it was grown in a large barrel-sized pot with roots escaping into the ground. Most of what you see of the tree base is just exposed roots. I got a video of me digging it out of the pot. Ficus microcarpa ginseng is hard to bonsai but can make great material for a sumo-like style. It does involve cutting a portion of the bulbous root off which can sometimes result in rot. Glad you also like Ficus. It is a great genus. I got a few ports and really enjoy them as well.
