We noticed our Maytag Dryer (Model YMED6630HC2) failed to dry laundry and had NO HOT AIR only 2 years after buying brand new. In this video I show you how to open up the dryer, diagnose and fix the problem (which usually is the heating element/coil and/or associated sensors). Fortunately you can buy parts online fairly cheap ($30-40) as they are used on numerous models of Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Inglis, and Magic Chef dryers.
Our heating element W11344457 is replaced by WP3387747 which you can find online and at many repair parts suppliers (OEM and clones, but not sure which is more reliable as I assume all suck)! Maytag advertises a 10 year warranty but it is really only 1 year, as warranty on years 2 to 10 covers only the Drum (Side Walls Only) and Drive Motor! So you are stuck fixing a heating issue yourself or paying a fortune for a professional appliance repair service. Hopefully with this video you will be able to fix it easily.
WARNING! If you are not comfortable with home repair leave it to a professional. Also, make sure things are UNPLUGGED before working on them. Even if you have nothing to fix, make it a habit to OPEN UP YOUR DRYER annually and remove all of the lint. Dryers are known to build up huge amounts of lint inside which collects everywhere. After a while it can possibly short out some electrical connections or even start a fire. Hopefully this video will help you learn how to confidently open up the dryer and clean it out.
