Accessorizing the new trailer with gear to secure my UTV and the trailer, including E-Track, locks, and more. I show how to install an E-Track, ensure load is balanced properly, and discuss some important safety & security considerations. If you're new to hauling UTVs, cars, or other equipment on a trailer, you'll like this video and hopefully learn some things that will keep you safe on the road while towing. Enjoy and thank you for watching.

Backing plates are available for your E-Trac as lag bolts will eventually fail. This is especially important if you are not tied to the frame with nuts and bolts. Wheel bonnets are fine, but I have found running a heavy ratchet strap across the floor is an ideal mean to tie down UTVs and golf carts placing a rag, or edge guard on corners will reduce wear. An axle strap on the rear, or incorporating the hitch in a locking mechanism works well. Instead of bonnets I have used wheel chocks for the front wheels with the drawback being other trailer uses are limited. As long as E- Trac straps are pulling straight they will last. Pulling at even as little as 45 degrees will lead to premature failure of the fabric tie. Your redundancy in straps is a good idea as is securing loose strap ends as required. Between trailer and UTV weight a brake controller is required. Just mount the controller where you can easily adjust, or test the brakes. As I drive roads and highways I often shudder to see how loads are improperly secured on all types of vehicles and give them a wide berth. In risk management failure is often predictable. Thanks for sharing and making the effort.

Thanks for all the great info. And I totally agree with you as I've learned a bit since creating this video. I'll do another in the future installing backer plates and new backup straps that connect to the frame rails of the trailer. I did install Ford's OEM electric brake controller and adjusted accordingly; an absolute must for towing anything over 1K lbs. It works great. Even saw a great tip on how to recover a trailer that starts to fishtail--manually engaging trailer brakes just before using truck brakes to slow down. I was in an accident as a teenager with my grandfather where he had overloaded trailer with green oak logs and the trailer wagged the truck before coming around and smashing into the side of us. Only God could have saved us from that mess and He did. Still have shoulder, neck, and back issues to this day from that. Anyway, thanks again for all the great tips. I've got a winch install video on the trailer coming up soon, and I'll be sure to incorporate yours tips into the next trailer video I do after that. Much appreciate your watching, commenting and Subscribing. Sincerely, T.

Very nice trailer you purchased, I just got a big Tex 14 foot single axle trailer for my UTV's I was going to install the E tracks like you did but changed my mind and just bought several E-tracks to do the entire length of the trailer. I used nuts, large washers and bolts to secure the E tracks to the wood on the front, middle and end of each each track section and then used lag bolts for the rest, but I didn't do every hole, I think that will keep the tracks secured to the wood decking. I went to the E tracks because I got tired of getting to the trails and missing some tiedown straps, or they were dragging behind the trailer.

Thanks for watching. Sounds like you have a good setup now. If you didn't already see, I had a follow-up video where I added backer plates -- ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c7otTFR_B6c.htmlsi=UZgczzJe7SPDZyzb )

Nice trailer . This trailer needs chain pockets welded to the front of bed and rub rails on 3 sides . A few chain spools added would also been nice .

where did you find the ball receiver lock you discuss at around the 2:45 minute mark? I have the same new design and would prefer to securely lock it once on the tow ball.

Bought that at Harbor Freight. I have one on the receiver (3/8") and this one (1/4") on the trailer. Have had them for several years and they've held up well. Thanks for watching. Have fantastic day.

Some at Harbor Freight and some at Amazon. Links and details to most all equipment and materials I show on my channel can be found on my website-- twc-projects.net/resources Thanks for watching and for your comments.

Do you happen to know the length from front tire to rear tire is? I'm wondering if I could fit it on my 12 foot trailer with a atv
@twc-projects
@twc-projects 2 года назад
I'd have to measure to be exact, but it's about 10ft from bullbar to tailgate. Easily fits in my 12ft deep pole barn with nearly 2ft to spare. You can definitely fit it on a 12ft trailer. It weighs about 1,200 lbs, so make sure your trailer is rated for more than that. A lot of the lawn mower trailers are only rated for 1,000 lbs. Thanks for your comments and for watching.

Oops! Just reread your question. I doubt you can fit both the T-Boss and and ATV on a 12ft trailer. I have a 16ft car hauler, and might be able to turn a mid sized ATV sideways to squeeze it on with the UTV.

Great video! We just bought a very similar (Big Tex) 12 foot trailer for our UTV. Now that you have had this setup for a while, how is it holding up? I bought the E track but specifically I am interested to know if it is working well with the lag bolts. A lot of videos show people using bolts and nuts and some even using heavy backing plates on the bottom side of the trailer floor. I think that is probably overkill but I want to be safe. Are your lag bolts holding up to secure your UTV?

Thanks for the props. Glad you liked it. The etrack has been great, but I'm glad you asked about mounting them, because I've had others comments about using backing plates too. My setup is plenty strong enough for 1,100lbs UTV, but since I suspect over time as the wood continues to dry or rot, the lags may not hold on so well. So I'm eventually going to get backing plates and go that route to be safe. So you may just want to go that route from the start. I also added a winch to the trailer, of which I never finished making a video for. It can be very handy when having to load a dead vehicle or heavy objects like logs. Thanks again for reaching out and for watching. Good luck with your new trailer. Hope everything works out really well for you.

That will tear that tarp up hauling it down the road long distances. I would just try to use it when it's sitting in the sun or rain. You don't wanna reduce the life of that tarp. I bet that's expensive.

Yes. Learned that the hard way. Only took about 10min on the highway to start shredding. Luckily it came free with the UTV, and free is what it's worth. It was so light weight; only good for keeping dust off, until the mice decided to make bedding of it. I never really used it anyway. Not worth the hassle of putting on since I use my UTV every weekend. Thanks for your comments and for watching.
