Thank you all for watching! If you're going to be setting up a tank, check out my turtle tank equipment recs! kit.co/the_TurtleGirl/aquatic-turtle-kit ALSO I JUST REALIZED THAT MY SUBSCRIBE ANIMATION AT THE BEGINNING GOT SCREWED UP BUT PLS FORGIVE ME AND STILL HIT THE SUBSCRIBE BUTTON 😂
I wanted a recommendation. I have 2 turtles in one tank. One is around 1 and half years old and the other is half an year old. But the bigger one tries to bite the smaller when he gets close. The both stay in the opposite corners My older turtle is kind of slow, and the younger is kind of fast. I don't know if he moving around a lot troubles him or I don't know. Please tell me what to do. And, I don't want to get a new tank EDIT: My tank is a 20 gallon HIGH
I need some advice I’m going to off to college in couple of month and I have no one to take care of my turtle Gary i won him at a fair......when I was (younger).😔
Do I have a turtle? No. Do I plan on getting a turtle? No. Do I really have any interest in turtles? Not really no. I am still watching this video instead of finishing school? Yes 100%
I was the same, untill one day, i just couldn't stop thinking about Hoku, and I just really wanted one...... few months later I have a cute little red-eared-slider!
@@kol6347 to answer ur question yes turtle source is a good website but shipping is 40 dollars unless u live in Florida and can just drive to the store but I suggest you look into it so you know what your getting:)
Yaayy so happy you included my tank (last one). I’ve already upgraded it to a 90 gallon and Kauai has new fish friends (neon tetras also work with her, as well as tiger barbs, red tail shark, platies and mollies). Keep up the great work! 🙌
Also, since I see lots of basking filters: For any filters that come with customized filter cartridges, just keep in mind that you CAN use other media in them. Anything you can fit in the media space can go in, and it's beneficial to try to include media that provides surface area for beneficial bacteria (such as ceramic media or bio balls).
This lady has honestly been all I watch these past few days . Just having a baby an having to be on daddy duty at night is hard but easier with this to keep me awake
i have 2 yellow belly sliders, 1 red eared slider, and one map turtle. the map turtle and one of the yellow belly silder is in a 20 gal. long because they are babies. and then the red eared slider and the other yellow belly slider in a 75 gal. breeder. u have honestly helped me so much with understanding them and helping my tank, so thank u
For those who have the reptofilters I definitely recommend souping them up with extra filter media. It has a great pump but comes with very little filter media and the cartridges are pretty useless. I packed the inside of mine with sponge and bags of ceramic rings. It works great in my 40 gallon tank. Right now it is half full and I have a 2 -3 inch turtle. Nitrates stay very low so the filter is working well. I will probably continue using it by raising it up in the water as I raise the water level when my turtle gets bigger. The filter itself is so decorative and like I said the pump really pushes the water through so with the right media inside it is awesome.
I recently adopted a neglected musk turtle. I just cleaned his tank today and let me tell you it was HORRIFIC. I dont know what this person was doing but oh my god. I didnt immediately clean it because i needed to wait for a new substrate to get here, the previous owner was using tiny fish pebbles that he would constantly try to eat when i first seen him. Idk how to tell if hes healthy or not, but his shell looks a little weird and the extreme neglect he went through should probably tell me hes not. Hes pretty happy as of now though, digging in some new sand and eating healthily :) He does have a 20 gallon tank though and this has been pretty useful to help me decide what to add/change in his tank. Love your content!
Man those tanks are cool I have only a 10 gallon tank with a baby western painted turtle but these tanks would be really big for him and he would have a lot of space but maybe I should enter my tank to the forums
You've gone through a lot girly, especially the past year or so, I Hope you're doing ok! I hope you know everyone cares for you! You've helped so many! An I understand it could be stressful dealing with life and keeping up with social media! You're strong! You got this 👌
I have a 4 inch and 3 inch in an 20 gallon tank. Both are roughly around one or two years old. I have a repto filter waterfall filter in the 20 gallon tank. And a good basking area that the 4 inch struggles to get on. I don’t have flooring ( sand, gravel, mossy covering etc ) Edit: if you have any suggestions please let me know.
I'm not sure if you'll ever read this but if you do. Why do you recommend to keep higher waterlevel for the musk turtle? I always recommend a lower water level due to the fact that they do live in a more of a swamp area with pretty shallow water, they're not a very good swimmer and that they are actually more likely to die from drowning. That's always what I've been taught and heard but what's your thoughts on it?
My other side hobby has been taking care of Yertle for 34 years. I've sometimes wondered how I could have created a channel around him or turtles in general. Looks like you have that figured out, good show!
Love these great idea. I got a hatchling Razorback Musk back on December 1st and put it on a 10 gallon plastic tub. But to my surprise, he grow so fast that it start to look so cramped in there even though he is only 1.3 inch SCL 🤣. Maybe i should just jump into 40+ gallon enclosure next, because i never expected a musk turtle can grow this quick 😅.
I would love to show the turtle girl what we built for our turtle. he has tile under the basking light and ceramic heater. An area for sand above tank. A 75 gallon aquarium. It is a custom build we did
Your channel is helpful you are the only one could help me with this turtle sickness, tanj ideas and about turtles!I subsscribe to ur channel cuz its helpful. My favourite turtle youtuber is The Turtle Girl.My fav animal is turtles.❤️🥰
After finding your channel via your comment on Greg’s video yesterday I’ve really enjoyed watching these enclosure react videos. It’s a very cool concept of keeping a personal level of engagement with your subscriber base. I would continue this series for sure. Really fascinating channel and I’m kinda shocked I’ve just now seen your content. Also... more decorations. 😂🤣🤣
When you try fish again i really recommend Tiger Barbs, they're beautiful, and have a lot of the same requirements for care as turtles, they are also fast/ semi- aggressive ( so they can swim away and hold their own). They also grow decently big, but not too big. They work nicely for me, my map turtle has learned to co-exist with them nicely. The only problem is they require 25+ gallons.
They are getting the Killer Turtle stickers from THE TURTLE SOURCE. A pretty common online seller of a lot of species of turtles and tortoises. I have to get one for my tank. 🙂👍🏼
@@TheTurtleGirl I also have an adult female common musk turtle and you should def. get one in the future. They are such entertaining little turtles to watch and you can keep one full grown adult in a 40 gallon breeder tank. 👍🏼🙂🐢
when I was three I had a red wheelbarrow and there was a board leaned up against it and my turtle walked up the board into the wheelbarrow and got trapped there and I had him ever since. when i caught him he was probobly 3 weeks old
I would love to fill my tank all the way but my basking area sits on rocks rather than suctions because when I try suctions my little musk can’t climb up
I’m getting a new turtle in 2 days (baby musk turtle about 8 months old), I have got the UVB/UVA heat lamp (as well as the water heater, basking area, water filter and large gravel), I was just wondering how far away I should keep the bulb from the basking area (it is a 50w bulb) is there any way for me to see what temperature it is? And I’ve learned so much from your channel so thank you for that :))
Need your help. I bought a 4" size African sideneck a few wks ago unexpectedly. Never had a turtle in my life. Bouth a 10 gallon tank but now feel he needs something larger. I know they get to be up to 12" in size but can't afford a 75 or 150 gallon till next yr. Would it be a mistake getting a 40 gallon for now? He's trying to get out from his basking area and caught him, so because I have a filter inside the tank I had to criss cross two covers for now with the UVB lamp and light. The water is filled 1/2 full and I bought a sand suction today to keep it cleaner. BTW what is that gunk in the filter that's beige in color and looks slimy? I just cleaned the filters keeping some of that in for the good bacteria, but still learning. :) Thanks for your help "Turtle Girl" and see that you recently moved. Hugs to you!
Hey Turtle Girl! I have a question about the aquarium heater by top fin. It’s for my red eared slider. Do I completely submerge the heater or keep the top portion above water?
Her: "I love musk turtles, if I ever got any more turtles, you can bet a musk turtle would be on the list." A few months later: "So I did a thing. . ."
I got 4 slider turtles the lady who sold them to us kept them in bowls and sold them to us in a plastic bag we have a hexagon high tanks for 4 I'm upgrading soon one of the turtles have a cold sadly but we are working on helping him
I see alot of videos for baby turtles or smaller turtles. I have a 20 gallon long tank with 2 red ear sliders. 1 turtle is about 4 inches and the other is about 6 inches. Im like a week or 2 away from upgrading my tank size. But I'm afraid I don't know what to do the bigger they get
We live full time in an RV and a 20 gallon long fits in our tank space. It's time for us to upgrade our tank. Our turtle, Whiskey, is 1 year old. The question is: at what estimated age can a yellowbellied slider live in a 20 gallon tank? And we plan to move him outdoors when he gets bigger, so we need suggestions on outdoor turtle environments. Thanks we love your videos.
Aw that's cool! I never thought it would be possible to keep a turtle in an rv! It's less dependent on age than it is size - generally, try to shoot for 10 gallons per inch of she'll.
my common musk turtle will much prefer to stay on the surface and burry herself rather than swimming around- I have tried filling it all the way up before but she got really stressed
Is it ok to fill a 20 long to the top with water for a hatchling razorback musk turtle? I plan on putting alot of decorations for him to rest on. So worried and I haven't even gotten him yet! Lol!
Hello turtle girl I have two 3 inch red ear sliders I have them in a 10 gallon tank I was wondering. If I should get them a 20 gallon tank or a bigger tank I have there basking area and heater lamp and the uvb light and heater .
Hi I love ur vids! I have a question.. so I just redid my turtle tank and my painted turtle, jelly, has been aggressively running against the wall. She used to do it sometimes but not as aggressively. Is it just because it’s a new place? Thanks!
I got a above tank basking area for Christmas. My 2 turtles sleep on that thing that hangs below it😊 I’m also getting a hatchling musk turtle for my birthday at the start of next month! Are tiger barbs ok to put with the lil nugget?
In my opinion, for hatchling i think it's best to get him/her alone in the tank. That way he/she can explore and get comfortable without any kind of distraction. Because some musk turtle is kinda shy / not aggressive when it comes to feeding, so fish movement could make it uncomfortable / startled.
I have a diamondback terrapin and he is on his basking area a lot. And he also seems bored sometimes. Is there a way that would make him more Interactive?
