An intelligent, well researched, courteous interview. Tom really allows Cliff to expand and tell the whole story without butting in, only stepping in to offer considered observations or ask thoughtful questions. Cliff's energy and mental acuity is simply astonishing. I always liked Cliff's voice and singing skills not to mention that some of his songs have been absolute gems.
I live in America, and Cliff Richard is my favorite singer! I have seen celebrities in public, and don’t go crazy, but if I ever saw Cliff here I would have a hard time not wanting to say hello! I am not the kind to bother someone, but he would have to know how he helped me when my hubby had a stroke...his music got me through many hard hours!
@@mrgingerminge1 Adore him, and have done tons of research! Cliff Richard is most admired by people who worked with him. ..his reputation is sterling with his friends! One of the best Christian men anywhere...some don’t like Cliff because of that, and they make up things, but Cliff is doing quite well after he sued BBC and won millions! Cliff is happy! 😊
America's loss. He is famous and adored enough all over the rest of the world. Keep on keeping on Cliff, you are and always will be the best of the best 😘
A fantastic interview. Sir Cliff is an obedient son, where he listened to his father to give his best. That encourages me to give my best in all I do. His songs are delightful and uplifting. I listen to ' Let me be the one' ,which causes me to look to the future with hope. Sir Cliff, you are the best and will always be. Tks for sharing and God bless.
Great interview Tom, well done. Some old fans are still around , waiting to see Cliff again next year, would love to have met him so you are very lucky. I started loving his music when I was 6 years old (according to my mum) watching him on our black and white TV, I am now 61 and will never stop loving his music. The trolls on here who have nothing better to do but make nasty untruthful coments should be sued for defamation of character. there are thousands of fans out there wwho will always stand by this great man. Be safe, kind and charitable.
Not someold fans but we/re still million all over the world, the trolls they've nothing to say but those nasty comments, lies, they who have nothing to do but say dirty lies, Jesus would tell them " those who have not sinned, throw the 1st stone.", then they'll just disappear.
Sir Cliff, saw him live in Brisbane Australia many years ago. I will never forget that concert, what a professional showman. He is just as good today. Looking good Sir Cliff, love you to bits. You are an absolute legend xx
Sir Cliff Richard is the coolest superstar, coolest personality, and with the greatest voice ever. There is only one word to describe him...EVERGREEN !!!
Cliff it was your voice and the emotions in it was what held me all these years and i sure others too. Why your recording were not available to us here, but sometime we hear you over the radio. Thanks for hanging in. You stood the times and lasted and got better along the way. Radios are not played the way now as when you first started. To many other noise around. Keep singing as long as you can.
@@shebuckley260 Cliff has always spoken eloquently in interviews throughout his career. Elvis on the other hand, sadly, didn't always deliver a good interview and neither did he give many interviews.
My name is Aung Myo from Myanmar @ Burma very close border nation of India where our Rock& Roll legend was born. We have been crazy about his music and style as well, since the first time we heard his song on radio in early 60, from Move It, Summer Holiday, Vision, All My Love to present time. In my life I prayed God to buy Cliff's album in London. Fortunately I had been to Singapore in August1989, and coincidentally Cliff arrived in Singapore for fund raising and stayed at Metro Politan Hotel, I think. I collected the Strait Times with Cliff's photo on the first page. I bought a lot of cliff's album on tape including "Stronger" sorry we had no Cd player in 1989. As the time passed by my wish was fulfilled again, I had been to London in 1999, I can't find any words to say how I got happy for short stay in london. I bought Cds and video tapes of Cliff's movies Young Ones and Summer Holiday, I remember Cliff performed on stage as Heathcliff in Ballard at the time I had been in London I have never been tired to talk about Cliff and sing his songs playing my guitar. However extremelly I want to see him, I failed to shake hand with him, during his short visit to Burma couple of years ago. Let me copy some words in the lyric of his hit ' "Constantly" Though we may be far apart, you're constantly deep in my heart"
Cliff Richard and The Shadows will be remembered as The greatest combination of music talent thats ever played Great interview Sir Cliff honest as ever Thank you snd The Shadows for tge memories im 74 And still listen ti move it living dholl apache and so on
Well my late mother was Rock N Roll in Iowa. So went through records and found one Cliff Richard 45 record and play all time back 1975 and later my school days. Later got broke with my curl iron. Glad buy his cd . And film movies. Fun watch. My late mother die in heart attack in sept 2020 been three years now. I am oldest child following her foot steps. Most people do. Follow parents or others . Enjoy his music. Great music artist. Thank you. Great video of interview. Fans enjoyed. Thanks
A wonderful interview with Sir Cliff and an excellent interviewer . So interesting, honest and profound, something all performing artists, especially the younger singers of today should listen to and take heed.
Cliff is my favourite artist, he deserves more credit than people give him, there will never be someone like him again, try to listen to some songs from his albums stuff you won't be familiar with, you won't be disappointed , you may be surprised. I can't wait to hear new recordings from him. I hope Cliff is around for a very long time to come. I love his music so so much. Thank you Sir Cliff
Love Cliff Richard & his awesome voice..& dance moves. This interview is great & informative..now we know more re his story 🙂. I'm American..but hav always loved all things (& people) British..as I hav English/Irish,/Scottish heritage..& proud of it 🙂🙂☮☮✌✌✌💕💕
Great interview! Love Sir Cliff, he is such a normal, nice guy, with a fantastic singing as well as speaking voice. He is so modest, he can play the guitar and has written some really good songs as well, though he says he is not a writer . The interviewer did a great job too !
My great granddaughter comes running when she hears you (she is 20 months old now.) So yo have at least one young fan that is listening to you. She loves eyes of a child, she climbs up in my lap gets real quite and when it ends she wants more. Claps and try to sing with you when you sing gospel. Which I love to watch because she is just starting to talk clearly, but she sings in her way with emotions that has feeling you can see in her.
I too live in usa..and until the movie summer holiday hit the states we wern't aware of who cliff was. I saw that movie 5 times when it was released..1963...have loved him ever since..I had to buy the soundtrack vinyl and wore it out many years ago..he was the prelude to the British invasion..love you cliff
Sir Cliff Richard is 79 years young. You are owesome sir. God bless you with abundance of good health and youthfulness, you look so young. LOVE LOVE LOVE TO YOU AND BIG HUG
What a wonderful interview. There are many more great songs in Cliff's catalogue that are never heard: 'Cant take the hurt anymore' for example, a beautiful ballad from the 1978 album 'Green Light'. Best albums if you're just discovering Cliff: 'Something's Going On' (2004), 'Cliff Richard The Album' (1993), 'Real As I Wanna Be' (1998) and there are so many more...
I agree these are all great albums, but HeathCliff 'Live' is definitely the best album for songs and performances, though it's nowhere Near as good as the HeathCliff and The Making of HeathCliff DVD's. My signed 'HeathCliff the Rock Opera musical DVD signed personally in December 2018, has to be 1 of my definite favourites out of over 90 autographs by Cliff that I have.
I first heard Cliff Richard sing a song for a Billy Graham movie. Was amazed, didn’t know who he was or how to find his music in the states, life marched on and rediscovered him about two years ago on RU-vid. Listened to as many of his concerts as I could find on RU-vid. I don’t know why we never heard him again.i never cared about the Beetles, Cliff Richards could sing circles around those guys and so much more handsome. Wish he had been promoted in the US, he was and is the best. Only an opinion from KC, USA.
What a fantastic interview 💙l really enjoyed watching it. I love the way Sir Cliff talks about his parents❤️❤️One day I stopped to get food at Burger King and We don’t talk anymore was playing so l got so happy and asked what station they told it was Spotify playing. If I see you in the USA 🇺🇸 you will make my dreams come true again 💗😘💗
Really great cliff I love hearing you talk about your life you are so humble and grateful, but you deserve every good thing that has happened to you. Some old LP tracks could make great singles these days mixed in with your new stuff which is brilliant. You are the greatest always have been. God bless Irene 💙👍⭐
Having grown up with Cliff and The Shads music in the late 50’s and early 60’s at school you realise why he was successful. Not only was he a great rock n’roll singer in that era, plus he was very fortunate to have people like Ian Samwell in his early band the Drifters writing brilliant rock music (Move It) that captured the public’s attention, then add into the mix that he later had the best guitar band in history - The Shadows, you then have a combo that was the best around. There were other good singers in Britain at the time but there was nothing to compare with Cliff and the Shads, there was an aura about them that has remained to this day, basically they were and still are very very good. The Beatles came along with a newer and fresher music in ‘63 and changed the pop and rock world forever. Then Cliff sang a lot of dross in the late 60’s and early 70’s, but because he had that early fame and the fact he was able to adapt to new and better rock music with the help of Bruce Welch with the I’m Nearly Famous album, he’s never looked back. Even his mates the Shadows went on to write and record brilliant albums until the early 2000’s. I think Cliff under estimates himself and certainly the music industry does. You don’t survive that long unless you are good.
Geoff T, 🙌🙌🙌 💯”you don’t survive that long unless you’re good, unless you’re really, truly good!” 👍👍👍. I also admire his humility & an impeccable personality! 🥰
To me and lots of you fans, YOU'RE THE BEST AND ONLY BEST 'Rock and Roll STAR EVER. Your kindness, humility, great attitude and more makes you #1 in many aspect of life. WE ALL LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!
Cliff you are more than very cool. You have survived the crowds, the record companies, the media and without a blemish. No one has been able to do that and achieve what you have done. The only squeeky clean rock star EVER. You my friend are Very cool indeed.
It's like the song of Sir Cliff..ITS WONDERFUL TO KNOW ...him ,his only humble person and do lovable. What we can say is always care himself with family. GOD BLESS(Phil's)
Wonderful. Both guys. Cliff looks 30 yrs younger. Tim admirably clued up, allowing us to hear Cliff's fascinatingly open take on the music world. Lots of stuff l hadn't realised. Love it that John Lennon recognised Cliff as cool ✔️
Sir you're truly very caring and God gifted and very kind to needy, you think of others, very kind hearted. Wish i could meet you. I can't stop loving you.
Great interview, ithis hour with you helps to know you better. I love your sense of humor. I wish we could get an hour on UTube for Sunday Mass, the church Mgmt said they could not get it even though we pay for it. Love you. God bless❤❤❤
Love Cliff Richard. He's honest with the answers. Tommy Steele was the first british rock 'n' roller and teenage idol and had some good records. Cliff a couple of years later had a great first hit with Move It and a succession of hits and extremely popular. He's like a good wine, he improved with age.
What a fantastic interview! All so interesting and entertaining and very educational at the same time! Loved hearing the bits about the music industry history and changes over the years. Sir Cliff is so talented and has surely seen it all over his long career! I’ve been a huge fan..and I’m from the US! There are Americans that love Cliff!
It's a shame Cliff is not more well known in the USA. I live here now and am constantly amazed that people say "who" when I mention him. On the TV there are radio channels and I always listen to the Golden Oldies one but I have yet to hear a Cliff song. The channel features lots of British groups and singers but never Cliff. Don't know why but have never found out who to contact about this. I've followed his career for years and love his music. I can't say I'm a fan in the true sense of the word (like I am a fan of Elvis) but he is the one constant still around from my childhood and I've come to appreciate him more and more over the years. He is interesting to listen to, has an amazing memory for the pop culture he has lived through and I eagerly await his new book that comes out at the end of October. BTW, one of my mates from years ago in England wrote a book on Cliff and I am wondering if he is the person Cliff referred to in this interview.
Cliff was the Elvis of GB, bless his beautiful Heart xx ❤️ Cliff & the Shads were the Best loved his Films. Mother loved Cliff in the 1960's we had a Minigram I cut my teeth on his great Music 👈.. I remember so well..Met Cliff at 6 yrs old at the Winter Gardens gave him some malteasers, coz my mum told me to....I lived in Bournemouth in the early 1960's. Move it sensational song..It was great to see you again in BIC on 19th Oct 2021>>>Cliff, Love You eternally 💕
Greetings, thank u for this successful interview with SirCliff!who continues to use his energy wisely. His Spiritual power is not about someone else-Or how effective he has/continues to become- constantly revolving in today’s musical environment! just phenomenal! He just continues bolstering us with his inspiration and enthusiasm! May our Lord and Saviour Jesus continue to bless you/him.
How I admire you in any conversation. But It is before my time because I am on your sites only 6 month. But in any case it for me geat pleasure to listen what you say. Thank you Sir Cliff Richard. Still love you❤❤❤
What a great interview. Really enjoyed watching it. Thank you so much. I love watching Cliff speak about his career and like Cliff said, you came across so interested and knowledgeable in what he was saying. It was great. I too would love to hear some of the lesser known album tracks live again. There are some excellent songs in his back catalogue. And he is so, so good live. I really hope you get to see his show. You will definitely go back again.
I live in America and I didn't know until today that you were singing at a young age. I had a song on an album that music came upon RU-vid and the group you had are guitar heroes. You're still good looking man. Elvis is dead, Michael Jackson is dead, you're still here. I love your music.
Amen...It is YOUR success that is predictable. I don't even think people who say your predictable as being a 'put down' because anything they say will never 'put you down' or bring you down and that's because Your success is predictably successful.
Have always been a fan of Cliff. I live in Australia and he has always been very popular over here. I've been to three concerts. I must say he looks much better letting his hair go naturally grey.
Fascinating interview. I started looking for Cliff Richard music only a couple of weeks ago after seeing the video on RU-vid of All I Ask of You with Sarah Brightman. I had no idea who he was( I'm in Canada) at first until I listened to " Here Comes Summer" and wow that took me back to when I was a teenager coming out of high school. We would sing that song all the time. It is sad how the music scene has changed. I grew up during a time when there was music playing in my house most of the time and of course I listened to rock and roll and pop music on the radio. OK here goes - They were the "good old days". Thanks for your music Cliff!
It is rare to find an interviewer, that listens and goes with it - not just sticking to rehearsed questions, who is knowledgable of their subject and who lets the interviewee expand and talk without interrupting. Cliff is a professional at interviews doing them for so long, but a bad interviewer can spoil it all, Tom is great with Cliff. Im glad, he didnt ask all the "usual" questions. Cliff comes across as per usual as honest, open and genuine, Really enjoyed listening/watching.
Dear Cliff! I barely understand what they were talking about, I just mean they were talking about records. But it’s so good to see you and I’m so glad you’re in the right color to look good, and this simple plaid shirt is so good for you too !! I was wondering if we will meet this yet in life ever, sometime ??? I do not know. But it's also good to see you that way at least ...
It would be great if Cliff did a tour or at least a show of half-forgotten songs like "Joanna". There are lots of great songs to choose from. "Love Is The Strongest Emotion", "Little Mistreater", "Real As I Wanna Be", "Butterfly Kisses" etc., why not revive them?
It's really lovely to see Sir Cliff getting respect from a young interviewer. This wasn't always the case in the past. Yes. John Lennon certainly knew who else was 'cool', including Sir Cliff and it was lovely of him to recognize that. Lennon had great taste. Good on Sir Cliff for, through sometimes some incredible odds, is still gracious and amazing. He deserves every bit of respect he gets. Arohanui and kia kaha to him from New Zealand. 🙂❤👍🌷🌻🌸🌺🌿
Shame when asked to name some 'deep cuts', Cliff didn't elaborate on anything from his golden period (for me at least) with the Shads - 1958-64 especially. But I must admit 'We Don't Talk Anymore' merits special mention from his post-Shadows career.
Siempre desde adolescente ha sido y será lo más hermoso una gran voz la mejor para mi seria lo más importante verlo y poder decirle que lo admiro y lo Estimo su gran admiradora Ma Dolores Real por siempre ❤❤❤
Top interview. Cliff loves it when people are interested in his music. I would recommend several albums to check out the mains ones would be the three Bruce Welch produced I'm Nearly Famous, Every Face Tells A Story and Green Light and the ones Alan Tarney produced I'm No Hero, Wired For Sound and Always Guaranteed the most important early album was Me And My Shadows and of the fan favourites of this millenium are Somethings Goin' On, Soulcious and Rise Up. He didn't mention that he also lost Olivia Newton-John as a backing singer. He usually tells a funny story about her getting too much attention on stage so he put her behind a piano and then put the lid up when he came on stage so no one could see her. He did it for a laugh not to end her career. He gave he a regular spot on his TV show in 1971 and it was all uphill from there for her and she returned the favour when it came to singing Suddenly on the Xanadu soundtrack which is one of my all time favourite recordings.
