200 Year Old Tattoo Ink Compliments Of Johnny Appleseed ~ Primitive Tattooing Ep 2

The 200 year old tree, used to make the
primitive tattoo ink, was planted by Johnny Appleseed (John Chapman). That's how the family story goes anyhow. And I have seen enough evidence to know that it's at least feasible and believable, if not definitively true. So today I’m utilizing that special ink for my third primitive tattoo. If you choose to replicate anything I do here, just be smart about it. Intentionally wounding yourself is no laughing matter, especially if you have certain health conditions or don't take proper precautions.

Please keep this series going! Im going to do this aswell but at this point im just not confident enough in what i know and youre helping immensly. Only problem im still struggling with is figuring out how to do this on the back of my shoulder lol

Definitely will. Time depending, I may film another session this weekend. Sorta a catch up video on how my work is looking, how I’m progressing, and filling the gaps I left. Then moving on to a little bit more new work and talking a few new things. I’m actually working my way toward the skill and understanding I feel is needed to work on my back. I’m going to work my way into it though. I’ll get there. It will involve some interesting experimenting with the right tools.

Can we use any alcohol product in the place of vodka?
@EccentricArtisan
@EccentricArtisan Год назад
There are a variety of liquids that can work as a carrier, but it’s important that what you choose is sanitary and won’t cause any adverse reactions for you. If using alcohols, I recommend isopropyl or vodka as that’s what I have worked with. I can’t speak on other options from personal experience.

Would charcoal from a willow tree be safe?

Also, what are the measurements for the charcoal and liquid?
@EccentricArtisan
@EccentricArtisan 8 месяцев назад
@@vilis6262 As long as you have no allergies to the wood, you should be just fine using willow. With my mix I aim for a thick liquid. Works best if it isn’t too thick and isn’t overly runny. Sorta a slurry. And I just add more of each component and mix to that consistency as needed.

Thank you! I'm going to try a pin print before doing a whole tattoo to make sure I'm not allergic. I appreciate you still responding to comments on a video this old@@EccentricArtisan

Which is the charcoal of the tree
@EccentricArtisan

The charcoal came from an old apple tree.

I burned the wood to make charcoal then I mixed it with alcohol. I’m not sure if that answers your question. If not I apologize.

@@handpoketattoo368 anything that is not toxic or won’t cause an allergic reaction. I would say most fruit trees are safe. Coconut or mango would probably work if you have those.

Вообще-то, краска тушь пигмент состоит из сажи, а не из угля, надо собирать сажу. Сажа это самый чёрный пигмент.

I appreciate the input. I think once I start working with some other needles in the near future, faster will feel easier to achieve. I’m planning on bone and antler next. I don’t know how much experience you have working with thorn needles or if you tattoo or not, but one issue is their relative sharpness compared to something like a steel needle. They are much larger and significantly blunter, making it harder to break the skin. Sometimes when it looks prolonged it’s due to the skin stretching and the video not capturing that well. I also want to get some longer thorn needles and cactus spines that are easier to handle. Poking with tiny needles is awkward as hell. All that to say, I am one hundred percent organically learning as I go. That and the fact that I’m not using anything modern may seem weird to most, but it’s just what I wanna do. Thanks for the advice though. It’s always appreciated!

Yeah you do not need to be going that deep. If you go so deep it bleeds the ink isn’t going to stay well you want the ink to get between the layers of skin right before it’s so deep that it bleeds
@EccentricArtisan
@EccentricArtisan 10 месяцев назад
I actually haven’t had any issue with the ink staying put. I can understand how the video may not translate well to show it, but I wasn’t going very deep. I’m looking at the same tattoo currently and it’s exactly the same as when it first healed. Looks great.
