Thank you buddy you just saved my day, you make me save a lot of money just when you say to disconnect the sensor and it's going to give me 500 extra pounds I do that on my truck starts right up.
Second “sensor” is not a sensor it’s a valve, IPR valve injection pressure regulator. And yes the do go bad. First one is an ICP injection control pressure sensor, by unplugging it the ECU runs on “desired” pressure which is well over 500psi. You need 500psi to run. Your mostly right but I just though I could help you and your viewers with correct terminology. Good video.
Well made video, but functionality description incorrect. IPC sensor tells computer what the pressure is and the computer then commands the IPR valve to get the desired pressure based on a bunch of other sensors. I believe when the IPR is energized, it closes the valve allowing the pump to build pressure, until it is de-energized or the pressure relief valve spring force is overcome. The computer typically sends energizing pulses to the IPR, of varying length and frequency to keep the pressure at the desired level. If the coil is still good and working, you can disassemble the other part and clean it. That usually can get it working again. Had same problem with mine. Test was no oil at all at the IPC plug, when the IPC sensor was removed. Cleaned up the IPR and worked just fine. The two halves of the IPR can be unscrewed. Careful not to lose the small pin and make sure you put it back in the same way. One end has a smaller diameter and that should point to the end that goes inside the pump. There is also another bigger pin inside as well. I have heard with the IPC disconnected the computer defaults to a pulse length and frequency that should result in 2000 PSI. That may vary some depending on the individual pump, and how wore out it is.
Gracias amigo, When I disconnected the ICP the truck starts but then immediately dies, I suspect that my Ipr is bad because the injectors are new, and the hi pressure oil pump is full of oil and have good pressure, so tomorrow I'll replace it, thanks for your video.
Lack of oil pressure caused by failed ICP or IPR will cause no start up problems. Also the is an exhaust back pressure sensor that is common to failure and the tube can also get clogged up. If your truck shuts of randomly check your fuel pump. My truck start ups but due to lack of fuel was slow with barley any power. Struggled to get 35 mph I checked the fuses they were good was getting 12v power to the fuel pump but my truck would shut off no randomly warning a few minutes into driving. If this happens to you do not drive the truck you will suck in air and damage the fuel injectors $$$$$. If your truck dies like mentioned buy a can of starter fluid open the air filter box and as you turn on your phone truck have a buddy spray some in there if you notice your truck has more power and drives and stays running while it's taking in the starter fluid. It's a lack of fuel due to most likely a bad fuel pump even though it's getting 12 v battery power second can be clogged filters in the fuel bowl and or fuel filters inside the sending unit which is inside the gas tank. Open the fuel sending unit housing you will see the small filers about the size of 2 AA batteries clean then with brake cleaner or replace with new ones. Hope this helps any one out there. My truck is a 2000 F350 7. 3 L Diesel V8. It's old so I don't mind buying parts for it because it really needs them. Its got over 300,000 miles it's a head ache but I would not sell or trade it for any of the new fancy over priced computer on wheels today. It's Diesel or nothin. Run it until it truly dies.
I’ve changed my icp my ipr my hpop and when I try to start it my oil pressure is at 200 and 65% I’m lost my truck will start with starting fluid but it stalls out
I have a 2001 same model brother truck was running when it died on me after that i haven't been able to start it up it cranks bit no start .... Does de check engine light come on with that sensor being bad?
I have a 2003 7.3 l f 350. It started dying going down the road, but would start back up. Now it's cranks but won't start. Replaced the oil pressure regulator like you did in your video I changed out the regulator coming off the fuel bowl, I replaced the crank sensor, and I replaced the fuel pump. I bought some diesel engine starter, and it will start when I spray that. Any ideas that might help me? I got this truck when my father passed away, I've never owned a diesel, and really don't want to let go of his truck yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
99 f350 7.3 drove to work loss of power shit off on me looked things up icp sensor an pigtail was full of oil so changed icp cleaned of pigtail an ipr sensor Changed oil... strts up runs normal for a min then very rough idle check engine light comes on when that starts happening but goes off after i turn it off an key on says no codes on reader help!!!
Hello.. my name is Mannie I liked your video very informative I have a 2000 f350 7.3 I was driving it and all of a sudden died 1st I changed the CPS nothing then I changed ICP still nothing then I changed IPR value and still nothing... I need advice on what to do ... Thank you...I would really appreciate it
I would start with check if you have fuel pressure Injectors remove the oil cap and have someone crank the truck check n see if the lifters are moving as it cranks( make sure its not the timing chain) Or possibly a timing sensor
I’m having an issue getting my 02 excursion with the 7.3 to start I have changed the IPR and unplugged the icp sensor still no start batteries are strong
I’ve changed my ipr my ipc my hpop a new fuel pick up when I try to start it the oil pressure is at 195 and my ipr is at 65% anything will help PLEASESSSSS
hey 7.3L OBS a got a question i replace the fuel bowl housing, glow plugs, heads injectors harness wiring,IPR & ICP sensor bran new oil and fuel filter AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON... just when get warm up. (never came on before with the stock parts an sensors.) may day may day hellllpppp.,please (97 f250 7.3L powerstroke obs.)
Very nice info....I have a 2000.f250 diesel..7.3....new batteries...if I get my a jump...will start..but if left undriven.fir a week....it will crank.but no start.....but if not driven fir one day will start...what u think..need help
My 2000 f550 wrecker cranks but wont start. I’m not very mechanically inclined when it comes to diesels. Both batteries are from 9/20. Where should I start first?
Quick question, I parked my truck for about a month without starting it now it does not start. It will crank but then the battery dies, however when I test them I have the correct sitting voltage. I tried getting a boost but that did not work either. It is a 2001 F550 7.3 L diesel. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start?
replaced the IPR but didn't fix it , talked to a guy on here up north and he told me before I got back with him it problemly won't fix it. He told me to check the glow plug solid then to check the glow plugs. A Rod was right checked the glow plugs and the 2nd one back was the problem I think.I haven't got all it back together but all the glow plugs show to be working now. Had to quit sun was killing me couldn't see what I was doing so back at it after the sun goes west a bit.
7.3 died out like it ran out of fuel while driving. Cranks over but won’t start, sounds like it out of fuel. Replaced the cps and there’s no communication to the pcm, white smoke comes out and have shocked fuses under steering wheel and hood. Please help
Oil pressure was not moving when the truck would crank over. It usually bounces on the dash when the truck is cranking over another thing was when I disconnected the sensor the truck would start up after a 4 second crank up
Hi, I have a 2000 ford 250 with 104000 miles. I bought it not running, it cranked it for about 39 seconds and it finally started but shut right down after about 30 seconds running. Would these sensors do this? Thanks, Richard
I would look into the fuel pressure. Try replacing the fuel filters first and ofcourse check n see the injectors and the heater elements are all working
