You’re awesome man! I’ve done a lot of things from oil changes to transmission replacements. Wiring is one of those things that just gets me nervous😬 you explained everything well and I among a lot of others here appreciate your video. You went in depth and made it sound really simple
Awesome Video. I learned a lot. Helped me trouble shoot. I ended up tapping the starter motor with a hammer. a few light taps and she started right up.
As a mechanic I seek to learn something new each day. This was today’s lesson. Thank you so much. You’ve just gained a subscriber. Looking forward to seeing your other classes.

Lehew I have a 2001 honda accord lx. So my key quit working I bought a new ignition switch I changed them out but my car still doesn't want to start. I took the chip out of the old key and taped it to the steering colum ( from one of the shows I watched on here ) and I still got nothing. My car ran great before the key went bad what do I do?
i’ve replaced my battery and starter on my ‘98 accord. i bypassed the clutch safety switch with a little wire that connects the two connections together, which gives me an audible click from the starter relay, (which i’ve been told is a good relay). i check the ignition wire that connects to the starter’s terminal and it gets 12 volts when the key is in start, and the cable from the battery to the starter also gives a constant 12 volts. all signs are leading to a bad starter, but i had it tested a day after installing this new one and it was good and not faulty. am i missing something?
I’m my rolls I can just get a coat hanger and bypass the relay shoul I connect power and ground together ? On the relay we’re u said tap tap while some one trying to start with key ?
Thanks I appreciate your attention to details. It makes your information useable. Wire colors and location with variables. Great job. You should do a HONDA series of videos. Thanks again.
Any direction you can't point me, I have a new ignition switch the old was connected to one of those crime stopper things, what do I have to do to return to stock, if I plug that switch it what was spliced into the old one and where does it go lol!?
i have a 2004 Honda Accord. I put the key in the ignition, and it wouldn't turn. it wasn't the steering wheel lock or anything so I pulled the ignition out and got it to turn over with a screwdriver. do you know how to bypass the box for the key fob?
What does it mean if your car cranks over but won't start I've replaced the alt and battery and connectors all replaced the spark plugs and wires fuel pump works and the fuel pump relay and also when I try to crank it over I smell gas
I have the same car. Cant get igniter on distributor to blink, i replaced already. I connect my test light to the positive side of batter and touch light on negative side of igniter (yellow wire black stripe). Do you have a video to trouble shoot that? Thank you!
I'm having this problem now with a 2007 Honda accord and can't figure out exactly why it won't start ,all my power is on when I turn the key but the engine won't turn on need advice
I think this is what happened to mine. I put the negative battery cable first then the positive. That cause sparks. Gonna try changing the fuse and see if it helps. The 100 amp fuse on the main box is like $6 on OReilley
I have the same problem. Actually it's with everything I own, a gazillion videos and nobody owns what I have. It's very unique, I own many one of a kind things. It's really hard trying to fix things though.
Hello, please please i have 1999 honda accord manual, I have no positive or negative to the starter relay ( the 2pins you said it always should have +- on) I’ve check the power coming for the ignition switch and all have postive and negative, And the sensor for clutch interlock switch also has negative. I’ve check everything to see why I’m not getting power to the starter relay, May you please tell me what I could be, and I’m willing to answer any questions
My 2000 honda accord keeps shutting off while driving, sometimes they won't even start I have to let it sit for 5 minutes before I start it again. I have already replaced the fuel pump, battery, starter, spark plugs & wires. Help needed please? I'm ready to replace the distributor cap
Awesome info. I was instaling the batería and the wrench touches both terminal of the batery, and the car doesnt turn on, what could happen? Thanks. Starter or fuse dead?
2000 3.0 VTEC Honda Accord. There's a green light that's the shape of a key on the dashboard. This light is sometimes on and sometimes off. When off the car will not start. It'll turn over but not start. This has been going on for awhile now. But the other day I couldn't get the green light to come on so I removed the ignition key assembly; now I'm lost as a bat. And the assembly is over $300 that I don't have... The car is in the middle of the yard with the windows down. It has the OEM security system on it (fully loaded model).... Question - is there any way to straight wire the car and eliminate the key altogether? Maybe I can install a toggle switch? Thanks for your time. Subscribe & liked. Hope to checkout more of your videos.
@@alexmccall997 it took a week but I finally got it figured out.... It wasn't the security (in the beginning) it was the main relay switch but by the time I figured that out I destroyed the complete ignition assembly 😂. But thanks for replying & reaching out brother! 👊🏻
Make sure it's in neutral, I ran over my foot when I started it. I was straight stuck, phone was in the car, no one was around. I was screwed and screaming for help. Embarrassing but lesson learned
3:20 At this point he points to the wrong wire for the starter. The starter is the Black/white wire, so solid black with a white stripe. Hope your tinkering goes as well as mine did.
Hello my accord will crank but no start. The green key won't come on and the check engine light won't come on either also I tried shifting into neutral too start the car but shifter will not move. Its an automatic
i was putting the intake on and one of the clamps touched the positive terminal and popped the battery and now my car wont start i changed the battery and the 50 Ig1 main fuse but it still wont start...Any suggestions ?
Out of nowhere the key wouldn't turn anymore then 1click, I ended up being able to pull the ignition switch out got the car started and back home turned the car off with the screwdriver. Now when I go to use the ignition switch to start it there's nothing. But my battery is still working the dome light comes on the clock cones on the stereo too. No dash board lights no chiming where should I start
I have a 1999 accord LX 2.3 vtec cold starts are fine, after the car reaches normal temp if you shut the car off it’s a no crank no start until it cools down.
Thats a common symptom of a failing ignition coil. I would test the battery as a starting point. When the engine is warmed up and the car is cranking but not starting check for the presence of spark
It's the ELD(Electronic Load Detector). I have a 2001 Accord EX v6 3.0 and put the ELD from a later year v6 3.0 and it worked perfectly. I got it on Amazon and left a review saying it worked for this car.
My green light does the same thing. The green light don't show up and then car won't start. But if I hit the steering wheel the green light will pop up and then it will crank.
Did anyone figure that out. Same thing on mine. Mines a 5 speed manual. When the green light comes on and blinks the car won't start after I turn the ignition switch to the 2nd position ( 3rd position is when it starts or should start) the 1st position turns on the stereo no and the 2nd turn Is when all the dash board lights come on and when the green key light comes on and blink it won't start but when I turn it to the 2nd position and the key light comes on for 1 second then goes of it starts Everytime. The clutch has to be engaged for that to happen but it's hasn't started In a week now
have 2002 dx new battery new starter turn key starter just kilcs thats it ingation was change and re programe years ago new key s and all any help would be great have not tap on relay yet sercerity system works good imoblizer
car dies while driving and have to wait a bit before driving again. There’s a crack in the main relay circuit board. When hot the circuit board arks and so have to let it cool down to start car again. Been there done that! Get new main relay!
After going through this troubleshooting process I sat in my front seat about to call a tow truck to get my car “repaired”. My transmission stick was in reverse.
I've changed my starter on my honda accord 4 times in it just spins but not engaging Flywheel teeth look ok still I was driving fine then stopped to pump gas then tht is when it started to just spin not engaging
Ok Jesus fucking Christ, great video but if you’re here for what the title is suggesting, skip to 3:20. For some reason he put the relay location portion in the ignition switch time stamp.
I have a 2000 Honda Accord and the anti theft system will randomly lock the motor, and it won't start for hours, Sometimes it just locks , some times when I am inside and won't let me out for several minutes and sometimes will lock it on its own. There are times when I can drive with flashing lights and a honking horn. Mostly I know this is not something I caused; it is a defect with the car. I am 76 years old and Honda is holding me hostage. The car is completely useless I can't even get it to a dealership.where they want more than blue to "LOOK" at it. Don't buy a Honda!!
