I would have never thought of drilling a hole and using a screw. I used an m4 machine screw. You saved me a bunch of money, but it's still a pita getting to it. :-D A shop quoted me almost $900 to replace the ac controls This cost me nothing. I otherwise would have had to buy a replacement off eBay and disconnect/reconnect all the wires. You really saved me a bunch of trouble. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a great idea!
I just used a screw. The screw head is all that touched the slide. I don't remember seeing anything that looked like it would rub in a bad way. My biggest concern was the piece I put the screw in. There's good bit of pressure on that screw head when the control is manipulated, and I hope the plastic doesn't break around the screw hole.
i have three plugs in the inner console that i dont know where it goes. One is a 2 pin connector. One of the other connects has sqaure hole in it. And another one is like a 5 or 6 connector pin.
Watching this without the sound on (circumstance... you've been there) it looks like a fellow who has the gloves and a go-pro on his head learning how this all comes apart, and the tricky bits are just jumped over. After 12 minutes I stopped for a beer. Maybe I'll resume... maybe.
