+Tom will Hello! I am the owner here. Yes the car has been great for me minus the clunky old automatic gearbox haha. The Steering is a little slow for my taste but otherwise perfect, the feel is great, like any 90's/early 00's car once you load up the steering it becomes more responsive. I put a steering wheel from a Corolla S since mine was peeling like crazy (it was like ashes, bits of foam gathering everywhere LOL) and I absolutely love that steering wheel, better than any wheel in any car ive ever driven lol (G35, suburban, mustang ecoboost). At the time of the video I had pretty much brand new KYB struts, which were factory replacements for the corolla S. They were way better than my originals, but they were blown so I couldn't tell you the real difference between non-S and S struts. Body roll is a lot, but i've gotten used to it. It's actually a pretty grippy car because it isn't super stiff. I do want to put either some Koni Yellow's or stiffer springs but the former is too expensive for me, and the latter is illegal in stock autoX classes so *shrug*. What I did different for this year was get a set of 15" steelies instead of the stock 14" ones, and got some Sport Comp-2 tires (supposedly best for the $ in my particular situation). The amount of grip that little car has is waaay better, hopefully it will drive like it's on rails, at least until it understeers haha. I run my all-seasons on the 14's everyday and I'll bring the 15's along when I got to AutoX and swap em out. Great little budget autocross car! But like I said the one fault is the automatic, sure it's ok if I can do the whole course in first gear, but If I need to do anything else it's pretty bad. Also first gear is long so I get out of the powerband really easily (after every sharp corner lol). But I'm just making do with what I have and having fun with it :) The car is completely fixed up mechanically. That is the best part about it. I drive it 250 miles or more every single week and it's never let me down except one time at 11:00 at night while pumping gas the battery gave up haha, but that can happen to anything. it also burns a little oil but I just watch it like a hawk and fill as needed, and it just keeps on going. Haha I liked this huge paragraph. I have an identical cars to yours. White on black steelies no hubcaps and debadged trunk(I havent buffed out the sticky stuff where some of the letters where before they started to come off). I have 180,000 in mine and it still runs great. Just gotta keep your eye on the oil as it does burn some like you said. I love how easy it is to work on above all other things .Steering wheel is falling apart day by day though :(. All in all it has been a fantastic little car for me with no major problems. One question for you though, have you ever experienced a rough idle after you start it up or after you have been on the highway for a while and come to a stop?

+RumpLeINtiLINsKinnIN well I no longer have the car. But I had hubcaps, just took them off for autocross. The previous owner had debaged mine, I actually like OEM badges but I couldn't find any for a fair price. If you have a 2001 or newer you can get a Corolla S/MR2/Celica steering wheel and airbag and it'll pop right in. I did that when my steering wheel was shedding foam all over the place, looked like ashes lol (my dad actually asked me if I was smoking once LOL) as for your idle issue, mine wasn't rough but I did have bad motor mounts. I was actually going to replace them the week someone crashed into me. Typically the front and rear motor mounts fail first, the rear is the hardest to get to (requires subframe to be dropped) so that's a pain, but it's also the most likely to fail first. Only use OEM mounts as they are fluid filled (aftermarket ones aren't). Next time it's rough on you try sliding into neutral, if it's not as bad then it's probably your motor mounts.

I had a 94 LE, Same Motor. Keep that Corolla. keep the rust away and do your timing belts. 7th Gens were known for being the most Durable.

Parents had 2 of them, a 95 and a 97 and sold both at around 450,000/500,000 miles. Both were still running. And that’s even after dealing with the harsh winters here in Canada. Amazing little tanks they were.

Yeah, I have the 2001 CE version and this thing does not mess around. It's pretty fast for what it is. And fun.

@@michaeldavila8627 I'm new to Toyota Corolla and I rarely ever drove over 3 k but noticed, you need to rev this out, especially on hills. Had a 14 focus and I drove the fuck out of it 4-6k rpms regularly, engine lasted entire time even time I sold it. Had 245k. Is it safe to go over 4k?

@@remissiveslave With a Corolla? Yeah, I always revved the hell outta mine and it never gave out. Just maintain the engine and you'll be fine

I traded it in for a mustang gt a few years back and the mustang feels like a Rolls Royce of features compared to the corolla. It was the first time I had a car with power locks Haha!

I just got one 🤣 2001 I used to have a GMC Silverado V8 and daammm it was $ 200 of gas every week. So the Corolla is a gas saver I'm fixing it I want to slam the car I put a sound system need rims so hope too keep him For a long time peace

I have the same car. Shouldn't vibrate. Check your engine mounts. They do crack sometimes - one of mine did.

+bcredeur97 I'm just saying, power to weight ratios are things that not many people consider, sure you can have a powerful car but if it weighs two tons then it's kinda useless. In college I drove a buddy of mine's toyota matrix with a 5 speed and it was more fun than anything I had driven at the time, Toyota knows how to make a solid small car. Now if I could get a drive in an MR2.... If you get an XRS let me know! We'll make a round 2 video!

+Shooting Cars that is very true. Light cars are more stable when cornering as well. *cough cough mustang cough* I wanted a Matrix for some time as well, but I just rather a car over a hatch lol. XRS corollas are hard to find (the good ones, 05-06) but if I find one when the time comes I will definitely jump on it :) though another option is a 2ZZ swap and better suspension into the car above :O ok maybe not because it is basically a salvage, but if it wasn't I would consider it, especially since it's lighter lol

JL yeah both my 98 and my 02 burn oil like crazy. I have to add like half a quart every few hundred miles. It's by far my favorite car to own and work on though. Absolutely amazing engineering!

Same here, my 01 burns oil like nothing els I’ve ever owned. Give it a look every once and a while and you’re fine. My aunt passed away and left us this car with 70K miles on it. I never knew how much of a gem this car is until recently.

Mine has 193000 and has never used oil. Change ever 5000 with Mobil 1 10-30

If your oil is disappearing quickly.... I suggest you look for leaks. The most common is a valve cover gasket leak. It happends all the time with these cars. It could also cause many other issues if not fixed or addressed quickly! Hope this helps !!

Noah Hughes should be fine. Just know it most likely will consume oil unless it has had a newer 1ZZ put in it with the larger oil return holes in the pistons. Unless it's been run on a nice synthetic oil all its life... but that's rare with corollas. But so long as you keep oil in it, you can beat on the thing for s very long time. Highway driving is the best too/least harsh on any car.

Hey man props to you for auto crossing an eigth gen! Too bad she was crashed. Yeah people shit on the 1ZZ for burning oil but it is more of a maitenence related issue than bad design. If you treat it right and change the oil regularily then the burning should stay away/be minimum. My 2000 hasnnt burned anything yet in the 5 years I have owned it. I got lucky, it was a one owner lady driven car. :)

if you watch mcjuggernuggets he owned one and drove it from new jersy to south Carolina with no bother so yea should be ok
