Did my 2005 suburban today and I've never done anything like this. Got to buy a good floor jack, jack stands, and a 35mm socket (get the deep kind if you can). I watched two different videos and one had you pull the brake apart. I pulled the unit off intact and it seemed to work. The three screws (15mm) that hold the bearing thing (see I'm not real technical) were a PIA to remove. This video took a better than average computer guy a mechanic. Well, will closely monitor the wheel for a couple of weeks to make sure. THANK YOU!
Great job! I've reviewed several how tos for this and yours, by far, has been the most clear and concise. it was very refreshing to not have the foul language as some do as well. It is much easier to follow your work with how bright the work area was and clean the shop is. thank you and keep up the great work!
Very well done sir. Clearly and accurately illustrated and explained. I've watched many automotive videos, this one is at the top for clarity and accuracy and is just the perfect length.
Excellent video, it is easy to replace but I always like to look repairs up ahead of the job to see what tools I will need so that I don't have to look for a tool I don't have when I have everything half disassembled and above all I want to do the job correctly, this video is very professional, hub nut and bolt sizes and torque specs would have been nice but the axle nut preload was the important one, I can look the rest up, again excellent video and I Thank You very much
At 6:22 in this video there is a "buffer boot" of some kind left of your torque wrench head. It sits left of the front shock. What is that piece and can it be replaced? On my 2002 Chevy Suburban they are almost worn completely off or down. I've noticed some steering irregularity and wanted to know could those be a culprit. Please let me know because I'd hope it can be fixed before having to dwell into costly other measures.
stewnta that is what is reffered to as a Bump Stop. It is used to limit the travel of the suspension as it moves up towards the frame of the vehicle. It also dampens the A-arms on hard impacts, so if yours are worn out you will experience harshness when hitting bumps.
Hi Marisol, unfortunately we do not specialize in bumpers, so there is not a video on changing a bumper on this type of car. Thanks for checking out our RU-vid channel, good luck with your bumper!
does this 2002 suburban 4x4 have rear abs sensors? thanks after replacing the hub I noticed the abs and the brake warning light come on at the same time intermittently someone said the rear abs wheel speed sensors prob. bad
gonepriused The 2002 Suburban has 4-wheel ABS. The professional thing to do if you have an ABS light on the dash is to use a scan tool to determine what code is causing the malfunction.
Dan - Thanks for viewing! The correct axle nut torque spec. is 177 foot lbs for this vehicle. You can view your application or any other vehicle needs by reviewing the SKF Torque Specification Guide (457377) (www.skf.com/binary/30-66360/457377.pdf)
