I used to play this game at my childhood friend's house every day after school, back in 2002 when we were 10ish. As hardcore GTA Fans, we had been waiting for this one ever since we heard rumours of it on internet forums. His parents were cool enough to let him have a TV & computer in his room, and they would also let me sleep over whenever I wanted to. He had a PS2, and I was a PC kid, so needless to say that I basically lived there for 7 months, as the PC version only came out 7 months after... We would play that thing all night, taking turns, waiting for each other to die, reading aloud printed cheat codes to each other, and I would ALWAYS be the last one up, just so that I could explore the game at my own pace, trying to uncover those crazy Vice City myths and legends that popped up on internet forums, easter eggs and so on. That city seemed endless. It was crazy, and we were very young. Anyway we were already modding since Gta3, but that's when Vice City came out that we actually started doing our first fan websites, with our mods and so on. Then we started doing Counter strike maps, fan forums, warez sites, anything under the sun, we did it. Nothing to write home about, and some of it most likely wasn't legal, but we were kids, and that was it, we both got bit by the tech virus and we would never stop building stuff together. Then, came middle school, highschool, we had our first nights out, met our first girlfriends, and even though our friendship kind of drifted apart in our late 20's, we still worked together on tech projects, got early in crypto together back in 2014, and built our first startups together around that time. We had a bad falling out in 2020, nothing serious besides a lot of unsaid thoughts about work stuff ( I'm not the nicest person and certainly not the best friend ). But thanks to that, we didn't speak for 2 years. I mean, he ghosted me for 2 years. Fast forward to May 2022 ( we were already 30 by then ) he contacted me back, simply asking me if I wanted to work with him on a crypto project, from scratch. Frankly, I couldn't have been happier, so I said yes and we started brainstorming twice a day, every day, just like old times. A week after that, as I was cooking a burger, getting ready for our afternoon video call, I received a message from his wife, informing me that he passed away during the night, killed on the spot by a hit-and-run driver, as he rode his bike on the highway back home. Actually, I'm the one hoping that he was killed on the spot and that he didn't suffer. I don't know about that, I didn't ask about that, and I didn't want to hear it, none of it. The aftermath isn't fun, I'll leave it at that. Anyway, he'll be 30 forever, and I got to keep going on. But I will always remember the exact image of that old CRT monitor, playing Vice City at his parent's place, back in 2002. When the world was, somehow, a much, much simpler place. At least for us.

Game came out when i was 13 and now im about to turn 30. I was in grade 7 and i remember inviting 4 of my best mates everyday after school to play this. We didn't do homework or anything...just played this for hours until dark. Now we all went our separate ways in life. What i would do to go back to those days but life moves on 😭

The good days... When you could just pop in that disc you bought from the local game store and start playing. Kids born today missed out big time on those days.

Vice City needs a remake, it’s really sad how it got overshadowed by San Andreas and not so much people are familiar with it (despite selling very well but still lol) because of its small map and insanely hard difficulty but overall the game was amazing! Great aesthetics, perfect view of Miami especially at night time, bomb ass soundtracks, characters are hilarious and memorable, etc.... Vice City and TBOGT will always be my favorite GTA games.

My favorite thing about this game is the music and the over all world and feel of Vice City. It makes me feel like I went back in time to the 1980's. :D

I was 2 years old in 2002 when I watched my brother play it, and by the time I was 6, I was playing it on his windows XP!!! All I did was pressed the front arrow (accelerator) while my brother pressed the left/right arrow on his keyboard controlling the direction... And I felt awesome thinking I was playing it all by myself. Then in 2008, I was 8 years old and realized there was more to the game like missions. Then in 2011, it was the first time I won a gta vice city game all by myself!

I was just 4 years old when i played VC for first time, and i didn't play any mission, i just was hanging out by the streets inside of an Infernus changing radio stations until find songs like "Cum on feel the noize" "Africa" "Working for the weekend" "Raining blood" "I wanna rock" "Video killed the radio star" "Billie Jean" "Japanese Boy" "Self control" etc. When i turned 9 years old i could finish the entire game, good old days, and good old game, people would say San Andreas was most iconic game of GTA saga, but Vice City lives in a special place in my heart
