I installed mine on yesterday 2007 5.9 Took me about 3.5 hours but I cleaned my radiator, inercooler, ac condenser real good x 2. When I removed transcooler I covered everything with double sandwich bags and taped off openings. Cleaned real good. Very simple install. I just took it to my transmission shop. For service drop pan tighten bans, filter and new fluid. I have that done yearly. I pull a 40 foot fifth wheel. After adding the mag tech deep dish pan and this trans cooler. I hope to see better temps pulling when is 100 degrees out side. Time will tell.

did you ever see a big increase? are you still running the factory heat exchanger also?

Will be buying one of your trans coolers very soon for my 03 Dodge 3500. Been on the Cumminsforum following this thread for some time now.

Got it via UPS a few days ago and can't wait to install. Am glad the kit uses rubber hose instead of the factory conmections as my aftermarket I.C. and boost tubes rub the lines. I can route the runbber hose to avoid problems. Thanks again Mishimoto!

So the 2008 trans cooler does indeed have a thermostat for cold warm up .This explains my erratic behavior with temps and the dealer said early year 6.7s did not have a thermostat for cooling bypass for cold warm up, well it's not the first time a dealer told me wrong. May as well replace the stick unit with an upgraded one ...lol... it always make the time spent feel less of a waste when it's upgraded parts going back in .

Does anyone have some real world numbers on this installed? How does this compare to added an aux electric fan cooler under the truck?

So Tran’s cooler is in front then intercooler is behind?

Our transmission cooler sits in the OEM location, between the intercooler and radiator.

Does that requere additonal fluid on the trans? Because I assume that this one is a larger one, meaning less oil avaiable on the gear box...

How much in temp will this allow for in additional cooling
@mishimoto
@mishimoto 5 лет назад
We saw a temperature reduction of 10°F at the cooler inlet and about 13°F at the outlet vs the stock unit.

@@mishimoto for only 13°F it's not even worth the effort and let's not even include the huge cost attached to Mishimoto products.

@@sssfs9418 for a fix all and a stock upgrade because the stock thermostats are known to stick, running a but trans, mine runs at least 20°f cooler with the bypass valve installed. I've not had the trans fluid hit temps anywhere near where stock cooler was while off roading, towing or idling in stop start traffic.

Will this work with the factory heat exchanger deleted?
@mishimoto
@mishimoto 5 лет назад
As long as your lines still lead to the OEM point used you should have no issues.
@Mjb317
@Mjb317 5 лет назад
Mishimoto Automotive okay so might need to run extended lines, is there enough room for an E fan?
@Redsfanatic32
@Redsfanatic32 4 года назад
Yes. Just make sure you keep the thermostat in. I’d also recommend running a derale remote cooler with a fan on it for additional cooling or you’ll have issues during warmer months.
@91rangerturbo
@91rangerturbo 2 года назад
@@Redsfanatic32 even with the factory heat exchanger deleted and no thermostat?
@Redsfanatic32
@Redsfanatic32 2 года назад
@@91rangerturbo yes. Especially when towing and not in lockup, or in heavy traffic. One of the heat exchanger’s jobs is to keep torque converter heat flashes down. Fluid heat exchangers have a lot higher BTU rating than air to fluid ones. Even without a thermostat I would regularly see 170-180 if I was doing a lot of stop and go driving. I never towed with that setup though. I put the thermostat back in the mishimoto cooler and installed a remote cooler under the transfer case and even when towing heavy in the heat of summer the highest I see is about 170. I recently bought a thermal bypass that 6.7 trucks use because my remote cooler is a free flow cooler without any provision for keeping heat in the fluid, so it’s going in line to bypass that cooler unless I really need it. 48s and 47s absolutely hate cool fluid temps. Anything below 130 and mine seems to shift sluggish and lockup is really spongy on the apply. So I highly recommend you use a thermostat

@@mishimoto The valve in the cooler has to have a preferred flow direction doesn't it? That's why I am here. 4:20 You labeled the top one as feed line in this vid.
