Your not Far off, '05 Was Technically* NASCAR'S Peak but I agree that '00-'05 is my Favorite time but I'm partial because I've been a fan of Jr's since he raced my Local Track MB speedway. *Ratings
@@ronmartin3755 The Chase didn't ruin anything initially, and it was a great concept that offered the cream of the crop to fight for a title. However nascar just couldn't let a good thing alone. First they raised it to 12 cars, ok a little bump to go with the competition, but then it got raised to 16 cars and anyone with a win. It just added so much garbage to a playoff system that still rewarded the good of the old system, while having a higher chance of an exciting end to the season. I mean look at Stewart and Edwards. Edwards with 1 win on the season and Stewart with 5 in the chase alone. They tied and the breaker went to Stewart. The original chase still offered rewarded consistency. Now it's just a mess. Playoff points, brackets, etc. It offers an exciting season finally, but its all gimmicks. It's like watching someone a group of teenagers came up with.
Easy to look good with a car that’s clearly out classing the field because NASCAR gives it an advantage. They needed to get him a win to sell tickets to the retards….sorry Earnhardt fans.
Just watched this whole race while being sick, man did the broadcasts of yesteryear, and racing package was so much better than anything Nascar can sniff at making now. Awesome race, not only because who won but the real racing action. No playoffs. No stages. 43 real men, 188 laps. No bs. 👍🏻🏁 Nascar died after 2003
It's been 7 years and you may not care anymore but I've watched every single race since 1998 all practically original broadcast from pre race to end. Simply Google what years NASCAR schedule then RU-vid that race. I typed 2003 Aaron's 499 and bam.
I first started watching NASCAR in 2003 myself. I remember jumping up and down in my house when Junior won, and I hurt my thumb in the process of celebrating.
One of Junior's most masterful performances, he was still able to pass-at will and win. The yellow line deal, it was legal and they weren't going to get him all day. This race was epic.
I never understood why Jimmie Johnson said JR was the reason he was passed. MK was the car that ran him way up the track not DJ. Johnson is incredible but he was butt hurt that JR won this race, I guess JJ wanted it bad.
This race was a tough one to swallow- Sadler (I was an RYR guy) and Harvick (my favorite non RYR driver) were right there at the end, but they just couldn't outspeed Junior. The next day in high-school, I got an earful from the female members of Junior Nation that repped my school.
skankuser They were annoying, but I had nothing against Junior himself (Liked the car, loved the paint scheme, he was a cool customer at the time). In other words- respect the driver, can't stand the fans
@@hyperkid321 Unfortunately Junior's ruling was the exception. Too many drivers got penalties for stuff as severe as that. NASCAR couldn't stand to lose a chunk of the fan base if they flagged Junior.
@@badbooking3221 I mean you can say that but they were happy to let Junior lose in 2004 with like 5 laps under caution. If NASCAR really had a Jr bias he would've had 7 straight wins at Talladega
@@jimbozitron also in 2015 at Dega NASCAR threw the caution/checker flag when Jr was about 3 inches behind Logano costing him a spot in the final 4. People that think there was a bias are just seeing what they want to see.
Even if he did pass Kenseth illegally, he would have been cleared of the black flag because JR. went under the line, passed Kenseth, Kenseth passed him back and then Jr. Passed him again thus nullifying the penalty.
The earliest Talladega Big One it was only Lap 4 and they did it end result, The Largest Cup Series Crash ever 27 cars. 6 of those are NASCAR Hall of Famers. 5 of those former Cup series champions. note they did Robby Gordon was in the wreck nope it was actually Dale Jarrett who got a piece of it too.
So Jimmie Johnson was Complaining about JR.'s Pass below the yellow line which During that season Under the Official Rules, It states Quote "Once a Driver is in the Act Of Passing and is Forced below the yellow line, It Is a Clean Pass." And that's What NASCAR seen it as, Jr. Was FORCED by Matt Kenseth because Jimmie Johnson Pushed Matt Down.
I wonder. They included Robby Gordon in the wreck but not Dale Jarrett who was hit by Tony Stewart in the wreck. I wonder if it was a mistake. I would switch #31 with #88 since Robby Gordon wasn't anywhere near that wreck.
The Jr haters kept saying he should have been black flagged for passing under the yellow but 1 he was forced below it and if I recall the rule correctly all 4 tires have to be below the yellow.
Just a week before this, Brian Vickers was penalized at Texas for passing before the green waved in a Busch race. NASCAR says it cannot assume intent, and that a violation is a violation: Doesn’t matter if you get forced below the yellow line here. Jr. passed below the line... NASCAR can’t assume intent, right?
@@gregdeemy3005 It was a missed call no doubt, and the car directly behind jr did the exact same thing too (Sadler), so they would have had to penalize two drivers at the same time. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not but it was noteworthy. Jeff Gordon got away with it in the 2007 daytona 500 as well, so even several years later they would let a scattered driver slide with that POS rule that shouldn't even be there in the first place lol, hardly anyone remembers that one though because it wasn't for the lead.
Ethan Weeter The problem is it’s a judgment call. The penalty is based on when the driver begins the pass. See the 2001 Pepsi 400... Tony Stewart was penalized for passing below the yellow line, with two or three laps to go. He began his pass on Johnny Benson and was then forced below the yellow line in an almost identical fashion to the Jr. / Kenseth pass / force. Simply put, NASCAR wouldn’t dare to have penalized Jr. in that situation. It is what it is. I’m not a Jr. hater, but he clearly got the benefit of certain types of situations. In this case, similar to the Stewart situation that I referenced, Jr. began his pass, was forced below the yellow line, and advanced his position. The rule, while a judgment call, is back and white in that regard. He should have been penalized, and Kevin Harvick should have been declared the winner. Doesn’t matter 16 years later.
Today's NASCAR, Dale Jr gets a penalty, why half the attendance than at this race. Back in 2003, they let them race. NASCAR killed the sport with too many rules.
He mentioned a mechanical problem, a cut tire, had caused the big one in the Busch race the previous day, and right as he says that, you can see Newman get loose going into turn 1, because of... you guessed it, a flat tire. Irony is weird sometimes.
About that Hermie Sadler car, this was back when you'd see a car promoting autism awareness that didn't have Autism Speaks on it. Sucks that they previously sponsored the Dover race and everyone watching at home thought "oh they support autism awareness" because of what those Fox Sports yahoos said without researching what they actually stand for. At least they don't sponsor it anymore. Just another reason why I prefer NASCAR on NBC.
I know they don't sponsor/endorse the race anymore (Autism Delaware does now, I don't know much about them) but I still didn't like how because of that, Fox Sports was doing the same by saying "those of you watching at home, we'd appreciate it if you supported this organization for Autism Awareness Month" while most people who saw that took their word for it and thought "oh, they support autism awareness" while not knowing what they actually stand for.
Yeah, Jr should have been black flagged for passing 17 and 48 with 5 to go. he was not forced down as there was s til a line width between Kenseth and the yellow line. Guess they didn't want the fans to throw stuff on the track or riot if they black flagged him.
Good race with a total bullshit finish, that win should not of stood. Only did because it was Jr. Everyone else before and since has had penalties despite being pushed under the line or not.
Right around the 21 minute mark, Chris Myers says it best, Dale Jr's popularity is because of his dad. Of course fans will get mad if he left it at that, so he goes on to say he's got great driving talent, but in reality, Dale Jr is only popular because when you think of nascar and you're not a fan, you think of Dale Earnhardt Sr, not Richard Petty, not Jeff Gordon.... well, Maybe Jeff Gordon. But they mainly think of Dale Sr. they see Earnhardt, and they say, "Oh me must be good, I'll root for him even though I know nothing about the sport." and BAM, Jr's a 12 consecutive most popular driver award winner. All because of his daddy.
YOU MUST NOT KNOW THAT POPULARITY EENT FROM BILL ELLIOT TO DALE JR.. NOT SENIOR..DALE SR. IS WHY NASCAR IS SO FUCKED UP NOW RACING DIRTY AND WHRN HE DIED NAS CAR PUT A STOP
Okay little kid, you have got to pay attention in English class because if you could read properly, you'd know that I never wrote about popularity being given to Jr from Sr. I wrote that Jr got his popularity because of his name. His daddy died and everyone freaked out because Sr was the intimidator, everyone thought he was indestructible, so when he died everyone was sympathetic for Jr, as he was now racing with out a dad at a very young age. Dale's death brought attention to the sport and for almost every race in 2001, after Sr's death, someone always talked about their sympathy for Jr and practically put Jr in the spotlight. Then after NASCAR's "feel-good story" when Dale Jr won the first race back at Daytona. He hasn't earned his popularity. That's the main point. If you looked at his MPDA wins, he started in 2003 and has won it since. If you knew the history of the sport then you'd know that from 2005-2013 he barely managed 4 wins in those 9 seasons. Had his name not been Dale Earnhardt Jr, he wouldn't be in the cup series right now. And this year, both of his wins came at restrictor plate tracks where he had an engine that nobody else had, so he basically had the wins handed to him. Not deserved. You can try all you want to prove me wrong, but the truth's the truth.
@@Chestickles Overall he was a Good driver. 2 time Busch series Champion. He Un-officially won the Championship in 04. Best Racer at Talladega. 2 time Daytona 500 Champion. He was nowhere near his Father or Racers like Gordon, Johnson, etc. But he had a Great Career, exciting driver to watch.
